Catherine Deneuve leads group of 100 women denouncing #MeToo campaign for ‘puritanism’

Actress Catherine Deneuve and 99 other French women have denounced a backlash against men following the Harvey Weinstein scandal, saying the #MeToo campaign against sexual harassment amounts to “puritanism” and is fuelled by a “hatred of men”.
In the aftermath of accusations against the US movie producer, millions of women took to social media to share their stories of being sexually harassed or assaulted, using the #MeToo hastag worldwide or #SquealOnYourPig (#balancetonporc).
“This urge to send men to the slaughterhouse, instead of helping women be more autonomous, helps the enemies of sexual freedom,” the 100 women, including 74-year old Deneuve, one of France’s most famous screen stars, said in a column published by Le Monde daily.
The man’s right to “pester” a woman was an essential part of sexual freedom, they said, describing the campaign as “puritanism”.
Marlene Schiappa, the French minister tasked with cracking down on violence against women, said the Weinstein scandal forced a rethink of attitudes towards sexual harassment in France, a country that cherishes its self-image as the land of seduction and romance.
Ms Schiappa kicked off nationwide consultations on a law that is due to include steps to fight sexual harassment on the streets as well as extend the statute of limitation for rape of minors.
In late October, protesters in Paris disrupted the opening of a retrospective of Roman Polanski’s work following new rape allegations against the French-Polish film director.
But for Deneuve and the other signatories of the letter, including writers and journalists, this went too far.
“This vigilante (online) justice has punished men in their jobs, forced some to resign, when all they did was touch a knee, try to steal a kiss, talk about ‘intimate’ matters in a work dinner,” they wrote.
“We defend a right to pester, which is vital to sexual freedom.”
Sydney commentator Stewie Jones-Cartwright said the campaign against men had gone on for too long, leaving a trail littered with wrecked lives and broken families over often false accusations by women.
“The Family Court is known among men’s groups as a forum to legally denounce mostly innocent husbands or defactos as child abusers, rapists or worse,” he said.
“The Craig McLachlan case is one of the worst media circuses I have seen in decades similar to the Rolf Harris acquittal on appeal in the UK on some charges which were false allegations of sexual abuse.
“The men-hating lesbians in the media should be sacked and prosecuted for their long campaign against often innocent men.”

Dick Smith says Australia’s agricultural land is becoming more valuable and should not be sold to foreign investors.

Australian entrepreneur and aviator Dick Smith has called the imminent sale of Australia’s largest landholder S.Kidman & Co to a Chinese company an act of madness and says that with the value of agricultural land rising, Australian super funds should be competing to buy the cattle stations.
Speaking from his 1214 hectare property outside Canberra, Mr Smith, who funded the first major book on his “hero” Australia’s greatest pastoral king Sir Sidney Kidman back in 1987, said he was shocked that Australian investors could not compete with foreign investors.
“I am totally opposed to a sale to the Chinese. It’s complete madness,” Mr Smith told The Australian Financial Review.
“Farming land is going to be incredibly valuable – it is going to generate a lot of wealth into the future so you don’t want all that wealth creation to go overseas.”

S.Kidman & Co, which has cattle station holdings covering 11 million hectares, was placed on the market for sale in April last year with EY. The company was expected to sell for more than $325 million.
Chinese group Shanghai Pengxin, which has successfully purchased large farming properties in New Zealand where foreign investment rules are much stricter, was S.Kidman & Co’s preferred bidder for the business.
But the sale was prevented from going ahead late last year on the grounds that part of the landholding was within the Australian Defence Force’s so called “green zone” – the lowest security rated area of the Woomera rocket range.
The land that was within the security area, namely the world’s largest cattle station Anna Creek, has since been carved out of the overall S.Kidman & Co portfolio of land, allowing for the sale of the remaining business.
However Mr Smith said using the security concern as a reason to prevent the sale was a “furphy”. “I really don’t understand why the major parties are ok with still selling it off. Nine out of 10 people I speak to are opposed to it.”
Other Australian investors have been enthusiastic about buying part or all of the S. Kidman & Co landholdings including transport magnate Lindsay Fox.
Mr Smith became one of the top ten shareholders in Australia’s second largest landholder – the Australian Agricultural Company – back in 2012 because he didn’t want to sound like a hypocrite for suggesting that Australians compete with offshore buyers for our agricultural land. He still has that shareholding.
“The Australian super funds surely they could buy Kidman. Even the prime minister could put in $1 million, I could match it and put $1 million in.”
At the same time that Mr Smith opposes the sale of S.Kidman & Co to the Chinese company – he is also against the sale of Australia’s largest dairy farmer known as the Van Diemen’s Land Company. That company is currently owned by a New Zealand local government but is about to be sold to a Chinese businessman Lu Xianfeng.
“Don’t get me wrong if that Chinese businessman wants to be an Australian citizen and bring his money in and live here and have his wife become a member of the Country Women’s Association and he becomes a member of the Rural Fire Brigade then he should be allowed to. But selling to offshore is just wrong – you may as well not have borders.”
The Chinese based company looking to buy S. Kidman & Co – Shanghai Pengxin is controlled by Hunan Dakang Pasture Farming – a $3.4 billion listed company, majority owned by billionaire Jiang Zhaobai. It has been looking to add beef cattle to its agricultural operations.
On Tuesday, the Board of Hunan Dakang announced that its chief executive Gary Romano had resigned. It is understood that Mr Romano would continue as a strategic adviser for Dakang in Australia and on the company’s S.Kidman & Co transaction.

02 March 2016: Federal Member for Kennedy Bob Katter today joined Great Australian and Entrepreneur Dick Smith and ABC radio personality Ian ‘Macca’ McNamara to open a market garden for First Australians on Mornington Island in the Gulf of Carpentaria located in Mr Katter’s electorate of Kennedy.
Mr Katter has long championed community market gardens as a simple way to improve the health standards of First Australians by providing cheap locally grown fresh produce to tackle the diabetes epidemic.
Yet he said today that it took a private donation from Mr Smith as well as the will of the local Mornington Island Council to achieve what successive Governments had failed to do.
“We deeply appreciate Dick helping out here because with Dick comes national attention,” Mr Katter said.
“Our nation has to be measured on how we treat our poorest people and this is one of the most important things that needs to be done.
“I recently asked all of the Shire Councillors in a First Australian community how diabetes was affecting them – sadly every single one of them had a close relative dying of diabetes.
“The problem was simply not there 25 years ago, but it is now, and something has to be done about it.”
The majority of grocery shops in First Australian communities in Queensland are State Government run operations. While the food is subsidised, it is often still prohibitively expensive and due to the long distances travelled, not fresh.
Mr Katter cited examples of his trips to Aboriginal communities 25 years ago where the mal-nutrition problems of today simply did not exist.
“Diabetes is just another name for malnutrition.
“I was the Minister for Aboriginal Affairs for the best part of a decade and when I went north to say the Torres Straits, 90% of the food that I ate was fresh local food – fish, turtle, crayfish, yam, taro, sweet potato, bananas, mangoes and coconuts.
“But the restrictions by the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority on fishing has almost completely destroyed First Australians’ ability to fish and removed a source of income.
“On the other side we’ve gone and closed everything down on the basis they say that disease could get into Australia – so they have no source of income and they are not allowed to grow their own food.
“The net result has been that if First Australians want fresh fruit and vegetables they have to buy them from the mainland, but they do not have enough money.
“I’ve said time and time again that market gardens must be reopened and I pay tribute to Dick Smith and the Mornington Island Council for taking this first step,” Mr Katter said.

Two Indian Mathematicians are credited with developing it.

Much of the learning of the ancient Greeks only survived because of the Arab scholars. Islam is a great tradition.
During the Islamic wars where they swallowed surrounding cultures, the pre-existing sciences, philosophies and learnings were absorbed into Islamic culture and eventually translated into Arabic. The massive Christian contribution in translating the sciences were later identified as Arab Islam, when in reality the greater percentage of real science was developed from the prior teachings of Greek, Indic, Assyrian, and Persian knowledge.
It is important for us that we promote and encourage Islam traditions that are moderate, that support freedom support democracy and support Australian Values.

Due to religious direction of marrying cousins for 1,400 years the end result is devastating inbreeding, infant deaths, deformities and low IQ. The end result as determined by several overseas courts and recently the London Coroner’s Court ruling shockingly deformed babies that died were the result of serious inbreeding genetic defects and had no hope of survival and not discrimination and neglect by white doctors/hospitals as claimed. The ongoing problems of inbreeding also create intelligence rationale difficulties used by their leaders to incite them into shocking acts.
US and UK defence experts all tell the same story of the extreme difficulty in training Moslems because of low IQ from inbreeding (generations of cousins marrying cousins marrying cousins) they found that most pilot trainees had very limited night vision, even on the brightest of moon-lit nights. Their training retention rate was minimal, including maintenance personnel. Some had dim memories and had to be constantly reminded of things that were told to them the day before. The western instructor gets burned-out quickly due to the futility. It actually took Moslem pilots years before they could fly in the dark safely and then would be reluctant to leave the lights of a city. Ask any Marine, airman or Army personnel who’s been trying to train Iraqis and especially Afghans. European governments tell the same story these migrants unable to learn a new language, hold employment or meet entrance qualifications for the military. This was indelibly displayed for all the world to see during the current ISIS attacks in Iraq where government force who outnumbering ISIS ran away because of inbreeding mental difficulties they could not rationalise the situation and what to do—all their training could not be remembered or applied. As senior US generals said on TV “They have no fight in them and little ability”. Thus to overcome this problem it is critical for ISIS to recruit foreign fighters who have not been inbred and can rationalise and think.
Editor: The Q & A program aired every Monday night at 9.30 has long been accused of being hosted by Marxists with hand-picked Bolsheviks in the audience. After serious public criticism of the show for allowing a terrorist to appear on air, the ABC tried to ‘cover its arse’ by asking another prominent socialist and anti-firearms campaigner Ray Martin to investigate the claims. What do you know, Mr Martin says the show is unbiased and “straight up the middle”. We believe he was serious with this deduction, but few mainstream viewers took any notice of his learned opinion, as derisive comments on the ABC pages and letters to the editor will attest.

Senator Eric Abetz Senator says the media had treated him and his conservative colleagues, in particular former prime minister Tony Abbott, ‘unfairly’.
Liberal senator Eric Abetz has unleashed an attack on the Canberra press gallery, arguing it is hostile to conservative, Christian politicians while giving favourable treatment to left-leaning or Muslim MPs.
Senator Abetz said the media had treated him and his conservative colleagues, in particular former prime minister Tony Abbott, “unfairly”. He said the media felt comfortable vilifying politicians like Mr Abbott because of their Christian faith, but would never dare speak the same way about people of other religions.
“Journalists will need to explain why they do this, but it is very clear that if somebody swears their oath on the Koran, this is a wonderful expression of diversity and to be encouraged, whereas if you swear your oath on the Bible then you’re an old fart and not to be taken seriously. Well, excuse me, what’s the difference?” he said. “There is a special negative-sentiment override for those that profess the Christian faith.”
Senator Abetz referenced a description of Mr Abbott as the “mad monk” that often appeared in the media. “Just imagine making fun of somebody else’s religion of a different nature, as in if you are a Muslim, Buddhist or a Hindu,” he said. “There is the double standard that you can basically vilify anyone from the Christian side of the tracks but don’t you dare touch anyone else.”
Senator Abetz, an employment minister under Mr Abbott who was dropped from cabinet by Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull, said Australian political reporters did not give fair treatment to conservative policies, such as stopping the boats, scrapping the carbon tax and opposing gay marriage, often mocking the conservative point of view.
He indicated that compared with other prime ministers, the media had treated Mr Abbott and John Howard far more harshly.
“The public can make up their own mind as to the coverage and treatment by the media of John Howard and Tony Abbott as prime ministers in comparison to others,” he said.
Members of the Canberra gallery gave more positive coverage to politicians and policies they agreed with, Senator Abetz said, arguing that journalists hardly ever referred to the far Left or the extreme Left when discussing the Greens or the Labor Party, but frequently referred to him, Cory Bernardi and other conservative politicians as being from the far, extreme or religious Right. “I’ve been referred to as from the religious Right a number of times in the media and when I’ve thrown out the challenge, when are you going to report on the godless Left? The answer is never,” he said.
The ABC was one of the worst offenders, he said, providing coverage that was markedly different for the politicians it supported. “I’m terribly loyal to my new leader but you might comment on the flirtatious approach of Leigh Sales when she interviewed Turnbull. Just ask yourself the question, did Leigh Sales ever apologise for interrupting Tony Abbott?” he said. “If you’re a conservative, you’re fair game to be interrupted.”
Senator Abetz said that when ABC host Tony Jones interviewed Joe Hockey on Lateline, he interrupted him 33 times. However, when he had Wayne Swan on the previous evening, there was barely an interruption.
“Then they say Joe Hockey is unable to sell the message. Well, with 33 interruptions in one interview, one might understand why it is difficult to sell the message,” he said. Senator Abetz found the “groupthink” of political journalists had worsened since he entered federal parliament in 1994. And it was to the detriment of democracy, he said.
“If you promote conservative policies, you are immediately demonised and conservative policies are demonised,” he said.
“If you have a Christian, conservative point of view to offer, the media will have this negative-sentiment override which will simply be critical of any views that you may seek to express and that has, regrettably, been the case now for many years in the media gallery.”
The result, Senator Abetz said, was that some politicians were too intimidated to admit they agreed with conservative policies. “Parliamentarians are intimidated from stating their point of view because they know, no matter how sensibly they present it, it will somehow be misrepresented or a negative picture, negative commentary will be presented,” he said.
“I think the groupthink of the media gallery has got worse as the years have gone by and the concept of a diverse range of opinions or interpretations is now lacking.”
When asked if journalists were reflecting the view of their audience, particularly when it came to issues such as gay marriage, Senator Abetz said he did not subscribe to the view that conservative Christian values were unpopular with the public. He said they were unpopular with the media, which was unrepresentative of the Australian people.
“If you go to the footy, you’re a man or woman of the people, but if you go to church, what a strange individual you are. Yet around Australia, as I understand it, a lot more people go to church on a Sunday than go to football on a Saturday.”
Senator Abetz said the press gallery tended to report on issues in the same way.
“The genuine diversity of reporting just does not seem to be there as one would have hoped it might,” he said.

Well you have gotta hand it to Charlie, ABC Radio’s indefatigable rural reporter for the Far North. She covers a multitude of mundane, populist issues some of which really don’t affect the bush or primary industries.
Once a Liberal Party candidate for the federal seat of Leichardt, which takes in Cape York Peninsula and northern Cairns, Charlie McKillop could one day reach the soaring heights of her namesake, the Catholic Saint, Mary MacKillop.
Providing she learns how to think out of the square.
Never one to let a good story get in the way of political ideology, Charlie was remarkably noticeable by her absence on the Atherton Tablelands in the aftermath of the panama disease outbreak that could have decimated the entire banana industry.
The Australian Banana Growers Association was caught napping when word got out about the Panama outbreak at Mareeba that was later proven to be a false test by Bio-security.
But the quarantine procedures hastily stuck together by government and industry still apply and have cost growers dearly.
During the false outbreak Charlie dutifully reported every nuance of the government departments and the ABGA.
Professors of plant life, agronomists and farmers unilaterally agreed once a farm was infected with the doomsday fungus, it was curtains, all over, finito.
Then ABGA joined the chorus assuring farmers and the public that Armageddon had arrived on the Tablelands.
Then a quietly spoken soil nutritionist from the Kingaroy area contacted Katters Australian Party with the news that Panama disease was not an atomic bomb for bananas.
The KAP, fortunately had some rather experienced farmers in their ranks who had heard of the peanut grower, John Koehler from the South Burnett who 25 years ago had managed to produce exceptional dryland peanuts without any measurable occurrence of aflatoxin, caused by a fungal disease that is quite toxic if consumed.
Koehler had transformed previously unusable and ‘flogged out’ peanut paddocks into viable growing areas once again with the diligent application of minerals that were either non-existent or long-missing from most Australian soils.
News reports from the Sunshine Coast district recently carried a similar story about the ailing ginger industry that has been flayed with disease leaving most traditional growing country unusable due to a virile fungus.
Koehler and an agronomist colleague had reversed the ginger fungus problem in trial plots and increased yield by up to 1000 per cent.
The Tableland party organised a seminar at Mareeba for Mr Koehler to assist banana growers in rejuvenating their paddocks by applying the correct minerals in a balanced formula.
Local newspapers and radio stations carried different stories and were excited that “Panama is not a death sentence” as one headline declared.
This was big news in the north, that the $700 million industry could be saved.
Unfortunately Charlie and her Townsville counterpart Craig Zonka were missing in action. The ABC let down its country listeners by denying them some hope of preventing the disease to strike.
Charlie’s Liberal ideology stopped her from reporting on this proven solution for hundreds of desperate farmers.
Not to be outdone, KAP on August 31, hosted a meeting of 300 desperate and dispossessed cattle producers at Charters Towers. Smack bang in the middle of the ABC’s largest rural audience.
ABC Television News from Brisbane turned up at the Towers meeting, giving it state-wide coverage in the nightly news.
Charlie was not going to give any credit to the KAP or Bob Katter for organising such an important meeting(Cairns News Sept 3) while her ‘champions of the bush’ the Liberals tossed many hundreds of family farmers onto the scrap heap.
The meeting heard from Facebook sensation Charlie Phillott who forced the ANZ Bank to return his Winton cattle property, amid a blaze of publicity on 60 Minutes.
It seems the bank had been caught out by Katter and Phillott engaging in unlawful, asset stripping activities.
One resolution, passed unanimously, condemned the Liberal National Party’s so-called drought aid assistance package as “bullshit” and an “unwanted loan at higher than normal bank interest rates.”
Not much of a story, Charlie must have reckoned, but the three television stations and various other news services who turned up thought it was a tremendous show of force by farmers who spoke of their battle with banks and their terrorist receivers, such as Korda Mentha, locally known as the Greek mafia.
Well indeed, Charlie has missed the boat, instead reporting on humdrum issues and flogging the United Nations policy-driven Natural Resource Management group and largely meaningless and costly Landcare programs.
This jaded reporting by the ABC is its hallmark, and if you are not a blackfella, Muslim, a gay or member of the Greens, ALP or LNP, or some defrocked climate change dodo, then any important message won’t ever hit the public broadcaster’s rural airwaves.
Cairns News should say that Cairns ABC regional radio with breakfast programs such as that hosted by airwaves icon Kier Shorey are of the highest quality and perform an informative public service.
