It is not our plan to occupy the Ukrainian territory. We do not intend to impose anything on anyone by force. At the same time, we have been hearing an increasing number of statements coming from the West that there is no need any more to abide by the documents setting forth the outcomes of World War II, as signed by the totalitarian Soviet regime. How can we respond to that?

The outcomes of World War II and the sacrifices our people had to make to defeat Nazism are sacred. This does not contradict the high values of human rights and freedoms in the reality that emerged over the post-war decades. This does not mean that nations cannot enjoy the right to self-determination, which is enshrined in Article 1 of the UN Charter.

Let me remind you that the people living in territories which are part of today’s Ukraine were not asked how they want to build their lives when the USSR was created or after World War II. Freedom guides our policy, the freedom to choose independently our future and the future of our children. We believe that all the peoples living in today’s Ukraine, anyone who want to do this, must be able to enjoy this right to make a free choice.

In this context I would like to address the citizens of Ukraine. In 2014, Russia was obliged to protect the people of Crimea and Sevastopol from those who you yourself call “nats.” The people of Crimea and Sevastopol made their choice in favour of being with their historical homeland, Russia, and we supported their choice. As I said, we could not act otherwise.

The current events have nothing to do with a desire to infringe on the interests of Ukraine and the Ukrainian people. They are connected with the defending Russia from those who have taken Ukraine hostage and are trying to use it against our country and our people.

I reiterate: we are acting to defend ourselves from the threats created for us and from a worse peril than what is happening now. I am asking you, however hard this may be, to understand this and to work together with us so as to turn this tragic page as soon as possible and to move forward together, without allowing anyone to interfere in our affairs and our relations but developing them independently, so as to create favourable conditions for overcoming all these problems and to strengthen us from within as a single whole, despite the existence of state borders. I believe in this, in our common future.

I would also like to address the military personnel of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

Comrade officers,

Your fathers, grandfathers and great-grandfathers did not fight the Nazi occupiers and did not defend our common Motherland to allow today’s neo-Nazis to seize power in Ukraine. You swore the oath of allegiance to the Ukrainian people and not to the junta, the people’s adversary which is plundering Ukraine and humiliating the Ukrainian people.

I urge you to refuse to carry out their criminal orders. I urge you to immediately lay down arms and go home. I will explain what this means: the military personnel of the Ukrainian army who do this will be able to freely leave the zone of hostilities and return to their families.

I want to emphasise again that all responsibility for the possible bloodshed will lie fully and wholly with the ruling Ukrainian regime.

I would now like to say something very important for those who may be tempted to interfere in these developments from the outside.

No matter who tries to stand in our way or all the more so create threats for our country and our people, they must know that Russia will respond immediately, and the consequences will be such as you have never seen in your entire history.

No matter how the events unfold, we are ready. All the necessary decisions in this regard have been taken. I hope that my words will be heard.

Citizens of Russia,

The culture and values, experience and traditions of our ancestors invariably provided a powerful underpinning for the wellbeing and the very existence of entire states and nations, their success and viability. Of course, this directly depends on the ability to quickly adapt to constant change, maintain social cohesion, and readiness to consolidate and summon all the available forces in order to move forward.

We always need to be strong, but this strength can take on different forms. The “empire of lies,” which I mentioned in the beginning of my speech, proceeds in its policy primarily from rough, direct force. This is when our saying on being “all brawn and no brains” applies.

We all know that having justice and truth on our side is what makes us truly strong. If this is the case, it would be hard to disagree with the fact that it is our strength and our readiness to fight that are the bedrock of independence and sovereignty and provide the necessary foundation for building a reliable future for your home, your family, and your Motherland.

Dear compatriots,

I am certain that devoted soldiers and officers of Russia’s Armed Forces will perform their duty with professionalism and courage. I have no doubt that the government institutions at all levels and specialists will work effectively to guarantee the stability of our economy, financial system and social wellbeing, and the same applies to corporate executives and the entire business community. I hope that all parliamentary parties and civil society take a consolidated, patriotic position.

At the end of the day, the future of Russia is in the hands of its multi-ethnic people, as has always been the case in our history. This means that the decisions that I made will be executed, that we will achieve the goals we have set, and reliably guarantee the security of our Motherland.

I believe in your support and the invincible force rooted in the love for our Fatherland.

27 thought on “Putin seeks to demilitarise and denazify Ukraine, as well as bring to trial those who perpetrated numerous bloody crimes against civilians”
  1. Daviddd2, Seriously? NO in actual fact, I wasn’t referring to YOU.
And yes, I’ve said in a number of my posts that “contrasting view points stimulate and challenge, enabling personal growth”. But when some people become rude, aggressive and omniscient in putting forward their case, I find that unnecessary and counter productive. I’m sure you’ll agree.

  2. D Johnston: Nobody is turning on anybody if you are referring to me. 🙂 I’m simply stating what I believe to be facts. Anybody is entitled to question my beliefs if they care to. It’s a rather healthy situation to be able to test and review one’s own perspectives from time to time. 🙂

  3. Oh man! The fur and feathers sure are flying on here all of a sudden…even regular contributors now turning on each other. Who needs trolls.
    W T ?!
    Very revealing.

  4. lindseysymonds: “The majority demographic is Ukrainian and the state takes its name from them”

Entirely ill advised statement, I’m afraid. The “majority demographic” takes its name from the regional geographic name. Look up Україна and what it means.

The ethnicities of the people in the region have varied over centuries but that has not prevented any of them from referring to themselves as “Ukrainians” even though their ethnicity may be Russian or Polish or Lithuanian or mixed.

I shan’t belabour the point but you may find it useful to distinguish between nationality and ethnicity.

  5. Daviddd2, But WHO?? with any intellect still listens to and/or goes anywhere near MSM with a barge pole for any reason anyway? I excised (or should that be excorsised) them from my life well over 2 yrs ago. If you develop an intolerance to nuts you don’t eat them. Easy.

  6. daviddd1 your argument is absurd

Europe does not have a melting pot, mongrelization model of society which is a Jewish subversion for White demographics and only White demographics. Refer to the writings of Israel Cohen, Kalergi etc. . Ukraine rejects melting pot type of society.

One has to have lived and traveled in Europe to have experienced the reality of its ethnic populations.. It doesn’t matter what European nation you live in – the citizenship of a state might be offered to many ethnically distinct demographics living within the borders of the country, the state might take its name from the nationality of the largest demographic that forms the state, but distinct people know who they are historically, culturally, linguistically etc and hold to their culture. .

Like every other nationality the Ukrainians know who they are as Ukrainians – as do other demographics living in Ukraine and neighbouring countries.

The majority demographic is Ukrainian and the state takes its name from them. They are a European folk. And like every other European nation they are governed by Jews because their state is owned by the Jewish Money Power – its financial pyramid – just as Russia is owned by the Jewish Money Power.

The Russian demographic in Ukraine – in the East – does not support the Ukrainian state and wishes to be governed by Russia. Whereas Poles, Lithuanians, Slovakians etc living in Ukraine and holding citizenship of the Ukrainian state still hold their ethnic identities and in many examples different churches like the Ukrainian Orthodox and the Polish Catholics, but they support the Ukrainian state as a polity and their stake in it.

  7. I agree David: ‘They are still pursuing their historically unfulfilled ambitions.’

This backward thinking mentality is all about the reunification of the old Roman Empire (in their minds).

The original Empire headed by the Emperor (Caesar), symbolised by the one headed eagle, eventually collapsed and split into two, i.e., [i]. The Eastern Roman Empire and the Orthodox Church in Constantinople, under the Eastern Caesar, and [ii].The Western Roman Empire and the Catholic Church in Rome, under the Western Caesar. Their respective standards now had the twin-headed eagle, symbolising the one empire under two caesars.

During the Middle Ages, with the fall of Constantinople, the centre of the Eastern Roman Empire re-located north into Russia, along with the Eastern Caesar (i.e. ‘Czar’), whilst the Western Roman Empire moved northward into Germany/Austria, along with the Western Caesar (i.e. ‘Kaisar’), – the Holy Roman Empire.

In their antiquated minds, western leaders still fantasise about this imperial reunification under one caesar, – a western caesar of course.

Someone should tell them, we have computer games for this kind of stuff now.

  8. “Ukraine has been a distinct nation / ethnos on its own land for centuries.”

Does that include the Poles, Russians, Lithuanians, Turkics, Hungarians, Romanians, Cossacks, Vikings, Khazarians…. all who lived in that region and ran the region on a revolving door basis at one time or another?

Anyone living in the ethnically mixed region identified geographically as Ukraine was a “Ukranian”, as much as anyone living in Texas is a Texan. Being Texan is a long way from being of Texan nationality/ethnos.

Sounds like you may have fallen victim to some historical rewrite. I’d appreciate it if you could reference it given that on any historical matter I can always be convinced otherwise.

  9. The West didn’t need to withdraw its military when the Soviets withdrew. All they had to do was not expand. Instead they pushed for their military forces as far as even in Georgia.

Given that the Warsaw Pact was in fact a RESPONSE to the formation of NATO it becomes clear who is pushing forward to mutual destruction.

But at least we know it’s not the first time, don’t we! No amount of spin and bellicose rhetoric can defeat the reality which is so observable to anyone who chooses to keep an open eye on what’s what.. You don’t have to be a Russophile to acknowledge reality.

  10. Hermann, Precisely… but they’ve already well and truly crossed that line. Russia has contingently and strategically prepared for this inevitability and any further retaliatory actions by the West will simply be water off a duck’s back. Their astounding arrogance and stupidity as illustrated in Putin’s candid and erudite address, will result in their long overdue demise.

  11. First point – who uses the slanderous label ‘Nazi’? Communists/The Left/anti-Westerners/Jewish extremists. Why is Putin using it then? Johnny Gat/Vigilante Intelligence had a video exposing Putin’s support of BLM, his channel was deleted.

Second point – If Ukraine needs to be ‘Denazified’, what is their Jewish president doing?? “Volodymyr Oleksandrovych Zelenskyy was born to Jewish parents on 25 January 1978 in Kryvyi Rih, then in the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic.”

Third point – Where is the analysis on whether or not it is possible that we are facing Soviet Union 2.0? Have we all forgotten the lessons taught to us by Solzhenitsyn, Bezmenov and Golitsyn?

Fourth point – If many are of the opinion that our governments and institutions have lied to us about nearly everything, why do we still believe the lies regarding the National Socialist Germans? Please read Tell the Truth and Shame the Devil by Gerard Menuhin. What is it about the National Socialists that they do not want us to know? That they provided a way out of the system we’re currently in now?

Fifth point – If we understand there to exist a Deep State, then why do we constantly attack America? It would mean that it is not America behind many of these evils, but the Deep State that is embedded within American institutions, and other Western countries.

If you truly want to understand the current system, please read Tell the Truth and Shame the Devil by Gerard Menuhin, and also check out Brendon O’Connell’s youtube channel.

  12. What the… What’s with the West’s fetish of threatening or striking at Russia, starting with France and Napoleon, Austria and the Habsburgs, Germany and Hitler and all the way to the current and persistent NATO creep towards Russia’s border?

Having lost SEVERAL TENS OF MILLIONS of Russians since Napoleon’s expeditions to Moscow do people really expect Russia to sit back and hang out for yet another assault?

In view of the historical background of assaults on Russia, peace and security in Europe are not served by placing nuclear missiles on Russia’s borders. It’s likely to invoke a little too much deja vu for anyone with any sense of self preservation.

The “brains trust” behind this latest development must be aware of that much. Yet they inexorably insist on shoving history down Russia’s throat as if they are still pursuing their historically unfulfilled ambitions.

We’ve already had TWO World Wars, do we need yet a THIRD World War to satisfy the very same ambitions of two centuries ago? It is clear that it matters little to the “brains trust” whether the Czar, the Soviets, Putin or anyone else is in power in Russia.

  13. I think it was 1997, when the West agreed, that if Russia withdrew its military from Europe, they would likewise withdraw.
But instead, as Russia honourably withdrew (according to the treaty), the West not only, refused to withdraw, but on the contrary, advanced its military into the regions vacated by Russia.

The West is simply re-enacting a cold-war version of Operation Barbarossa, which could now turn into a hot-war.

Ukraine is Russia’s Stalingrad moment, where they are forced to make their stand. Their fight for the right to exist.

The delusional bully-boy West, will eventually cross the line of no return, and ultimately, suffer the fate of the Nibelungs.

  14. Always good to hear both sides of the story. Why are we forbidden to hear the above information in the MSM? It’s not as if Putin is an irrelevant bit player. Thank you Cairns News,

  15. Ukraine has been a distinct nation / ethnos on its own land for centuries. It might have been part of larger polities like Poland Lithuania – but if they are not a nation , no one is a nation. They fell to the Bolshevik Revolution (the Jewish Communists) in 1922. Just as the Jewish Communist regime genocided millions of ethnic European Russians in Russia itself and changed the demographics, they genocided millions of the ethnic European Ukrainians and carted other millions of them off to the gulags.

So they had a long stint under Communist rule from Moscow. If the Communists again take over Ukraine and incorporate it – they will still be right up against Europe – namely Poland, Slovakia and Hungary. These were the folks who were handed over to Communist rule by the Allies after WWII. They don’t want to be under Communism either.

So it looks like Vlad is going to have his war in Europe.

I seriously doubt the above English trans speech was broadcast in the Soviet Union in Russian. It sounds to me like it was crafted for Western consumption. I think the Russians are pretty much aware that the ZOG wars in the Middle East (Sionistskiye Gosudartva) were managed / co-ordinated by Israel with the US and the Soviet Union working together to regime change 7 nations and put Zionist occupied governments in those nations.

  16. At the risk of sounding like a micro-echo, America, you have bled the world long enough. Return to your borders or face world revolt.

  17. Here’s an article from today’s RT-News [27 Feb].

Australia to fund lethal arms for Ukraine

Canberra said it would provide lethal military assistance to Kiev with the help of NATO
Australia to fund lethal arms for Ukraine

Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison has ordered the funding of lethal military assistance for Ukraine – a step up from his previous commitment to non-lethal aid – as the military conflict between Kiev and Moscow continues.

Australia would start supplying weapons to Ukraine through its NATO allies, Morrison announced on Sunday morning.

“The Australian government will continue to stand up for what is right when it comes to Ukraine,” said Morrison, adding that though the country was “already providing significant support in terms of non-lethal aid,” he had decided to “provide whatever support we can for lethal aid through our NATO partners, particularly the United States and the United Kingdom.”

Morrison said that Canberra would provide military assistance through the US, UK, and other NATO member states rather than shipping arms from Australia directly “because that’s the most effective way to do it.”

“They are already providing support in these areas and we will be assisting them with what they are doing,” the PM said.

Australia is the latest country to pledge weapons and other military aid to Ukraine, following in the footsteps of the US, UK, Germany, and other NATO allies.

This week, Germany promised to send Ukraine 1,000 anti-tank weapons and 500 surface-to-air missiles, while Belgium and the Netherlands vowed to deliver 2,000 machine guns and 200 missiles respectively.

  18. Hi Editor, Thanks so much for retrieving this Federation address after the site was taken down. I will save it this time! For the candour and linguistic eloquence it should be ranked as one of the greatest of all time surely.

  19. Can he come to Australia next.
Our government has been shooting civilians on the streets and using microwave weapons on unarmed peaceful protesters.
