Lyle Shelton welcomes NSW Liberal leader’s awakening to LGBTQIA+ ideology

You marched as a “Sloane Ranger” in the Mardi Gras, Kellie. What did you expect?

NSW Liberal Leader Kellie Sloane has discovered that LGBTQIA+ political ideology has consequences.

This week she labelled Parliament House’s new gender-neutral breastfeeding guidelines “completely nuts” and “a joke.” The guidelines carefully avoid the words “mother” and “female,” preferring neutral language about lactation and parental care.SW

Ms Sloane is right to object. Erasing the reality that only women breastfeed is absurd and disrespectful to mothers.

I welcome her awakening to biological reality. Breastfeeding is a female capacity.

Mothers are female. That is not a political statement. It is a biological fact.

But I am also bound to ask a simple question: what did she expect?

Earlier this year, Ms Sloane and other Liberals marched in the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras under the banner “Sloane Rangers.”

They joined a political parade that has long moved well beyond celebrating same-sex attraction.

Mardi Gras promotes gender-fluid ideology to children, the redefinition of sex, and the claim that men can be women.

It celebrates the idea that puberty blockers and surgery are appropriate responses to gender distress in children.

You cannot march under the rainbow flag one day and act shocked the next when government institutions follow the same ideological script.

Mardi Gras is not a harmless street party. It is an activist event with a clear agenda.

That agenda has already reshaped schools, classrooms and youth services.

Where was Sloane last “Wear it Purple Day” when school children across NSW were being indoctrinated into the gender-neutral language she now rails against?

Now Mardi Gras ideology is rewriting the language used inside the very building that makes the laws governing those institutions.

The removal of “mother” and “female” from Parliament House guidelines is not a random bureaucratic eccentricity. It is the logical outcome of an ideology that treats sex as optional and biological reality as bigotry.

Gender ideology is not neutral. It has consequences for women’s spaces, for children’s rights, and for plain language.

When institutions stop being able to say that mothers are female, they stop being able to clearly defend the sex-based rights that protect women and girls.

When they treat sex as fluid, they open the door to policies that put boys in girls’ sports, men in women’s change rooms, and experimental medical interventions in front of distressed children.

Ms Sloane’s belated recognition of the problem is welcome. But recognition without consistency is not enough.

The Liberal Party cannot continue to participate in events that promote gender ideology and then express surprise when that ideology turns up in government policy and institutional language.

Family First takes a different approach. We stand for the protection of women’s sex-based rights, the reality of biological sex, and the right of parents to raise their children free from gender ideology in schools and public institutions.

We want the child gender clinic which are conducting harmful medical experiments on our children closed.

We do not believe that affirming biological reality is controversial. We believe it is necessary.

Ms Sloane has correctly identified one symptom. The deeper issue is the ideology she and her party have helped normalise. Until that is confronted, the absurdities will keep coming.
