The Australian aboriginal were hunters and gatherers of many tribes who lived in their own territories in this ancient land. Each tribe had a rich history of their own laws, elders, legends, rituals, art, story telling and a deep knowledge of the land and nature.
Our ancestors discovered Australia. We didn’t invade it. The majority of our forebears were given no choice and were sent here in chains, as convicts. This great land was always going to be discovered and populated by another Country.
The Chinese came here for the gold-rush. The Greeks and Italians were welcomed as migrants. The English were paid ten pounds to come here. And since then many other nationalities.
Every one of them has added a richness of culture to our nation.
How can you then put one above the other. This is a land of equal opportunity and we have many wonderful aborigine people in politics because of that.
The Australian aboriginal are an ancient people who need time to grow, we cannot expect a people who have lived in exactly the same way for thousands of years to just become like us. The voice would only be giving militant whites with a percentage of aboriginal blood,
power in Parliament, power over aboriginals and power over the white Australians.
