How did the federal government of Liberal PM Harold Holt in 1966 change over our currency to dollars without referendum because the currency in our Commonwealth Constitution Act 1901 remains in pounds.

The “Chinese” came up in Aussie papers after Holts disappearance.

I wish we would go back to the original currency. It came in just before I was born but the sooner that returns and our proper constitutional monarchy the better. Get rid of the Australia Act frauds and all their acts of treason with this Covid garbage. I think they are getting close to their final act which won’t be pretty.

It does not allow the parliament to change a currency. You should not take a cursory reading of an act as gospel. Ask Harold Holt, he had to leave the country over it. Ed

Section 51 of the Constitution gives power of the parliament to make laws such as:
(xii) currency, coinage, and legal tender;
Legislation is passed to make it legal through different acts such as the Currency Act 1965.

It will be interesting when you show more about this subject. But considering we are dealing with politicians, we can expect to find out about their dirty deeds. It seems contrary to what I was brought up to believe, they are a pack of kaniving wheeler dealers. So much for the respect I once had for them.
The thing I would like to know is where did Harold disappear to ? Now that would make interesting reading.

As one who was forced to calculate pounds, shillings and pence for 33 years, I miss it not one jot. It should have been abandoned two centuries earlier.
