Buckle Up, Cairns, the cowboys are coming!

The adrenaline is set to surge when the 2025 Monster Energy Cairns Invitational storms into Cairns next weekend, bringing with it over $40,000 in prize money, world-class bull riders, and some of the fiercest bulls in the sport.

This year’s event is shaping up to be one of the most thrilling yet, as the best-of-the-best descend on Cairns for a night of non-stop action.

Mareeba’s Kurt Shephard is leading
national rider

“With the PBR Australia season reaching its critical final stages, every ride, every second, and every point counts,” said Glen Young, PBR Australia Managing Director.

More than 40 elite cowboys have entered the competition, including a fierce international contingent from Brazil and New Zealand, all chasing valuable championship points in a bid to secure a spot at the $150,000 PBR Grand Finals in Townsville this November.

Riding in Cairns and leading the national standings is Mareeba’s own Kurt Shephard. He holds a narrow edge over Brazilian sensation Luan Camarra, while 2023 Rookie of the Year Zane Hall and three-time New Zealand Champion Riley Ward are making late-season surges in pursuit of the top positions.

Joining them is Victorian Sam Woodall, who clinched the Origin Series win for the Blues, and Beau Willis from Bowen, as well as a heavy-hitting international crew including Brazil’s Diego Galdino, Alison Aguiar, Joao Rigaard Franco, and Kiwi stars Rylee Ward, Darryl McPherson, and Koby Parsons.

The competition won’t just be tough—it’ll be ferocious, thanks to the six premier bull contractors bringing their best stock to the event:

  • Dittmann Bucking Bulls
  • CF7
  • Finch Rodeo Bulls
  • Dunne Bucking Bulls
  • Kleier Bucking Bulls
  • MJ/Keliher

The spotlight will also shine on the unridden phenom, Alpha Blokes Warden, the MJ/Keliher superstar bull that has already racked up five High Point Bull titles this season. Will this be the night someone conquers the unrideable?

“The Cairns Invitational is where legends are made,” said Glen. “This is more than a competition, it’s a battle of grit, heart, and bullpower. The crowd can expect an unforgettable night filled with edge-of-your-seat drama and world-class athleticism.”

From the first bull of the night to the final whistle, the 2025 Monster Energy Cairns Invitational promises an evening of high-octane, family-friendly entertainment, and the kind of intensity only the PBR can deliver.

Buckle up, Cairns. The PBR is back—and it’s bringing the thunder.

From the land of Australians

9 thought on “Australia’s best bulls and bull riders headed to Cairns PBR July 19”
  1. The great irony of being a bull is that you pack on so much meat to be the toughest around but it just ends up making you more attractive to the pie-makers.
The irony of being a middle class Australian or cashed-up bogan is a similar thing, where the pie-maker is Elbow & his cohort of minions: Claire Oneill & Andrew Charlton (WEF), Sharon Burrow (Club of Rome), Teals party (Baron S. Hacca), Keating (Epstein connection), and all those aspirational minions the stoopids voted for.

  2. Is that all the Aussies rodeo cowboys do? Ride bulls? Real cowboys rides broncs!
    Real cowboys rope cattle!

Riding bulls is not part of a cowboy’s job description. I hope at Mareeba their will be actual cowboy competitions also and not just this ridiculous bullriding fad.

  3. Hey folks,

Fun facts about Bovaer 10, the feed additive which supposedly reduces bovine methane emissions, which at least one major Australian supermarket chain is ALREADY marketing in their meat and dairy products…

    1. It’s a DEADLY POISON, any handling of this chemical requires FULL BIOHAZARD PROTECTIVE GEAR.

    2. Bovaer 10 induces cancerous tumors in mammals, is a proven INFERTILITY agent, but has NOT BEEN PROPERLY TESTED for any other adverse effects.

    3. At least 16% of the Bovaer 10 fed to dairy cattle is expressed IN THEIR MILK.

So maybe don’t be trying to milk any of those butch beefers if they’ve been fed Bovaer 10 – and maybe don’t be trying that anyway.

P.S. If you want you and your family to DIE, just feed them “carbon neutral” beef and dairy products.

  4. Well folks,

What I wanna know is have these butch beefers been fed on seaweed and Bovaer? Probably not relevant unless they’re destined for the butchers, but might impact their “carbon footprint” – for anyone who subscribes to that BS.

And if they’ve been injected with the mRNA Bioweapons, then how is that fair when the poor bastards are more than likely to drop dead in the combat pit?

Get the lowdown from Maria Zeee, folks…
