BRICS keeps expanding, adding partner countries in January 2025, after admitting new members in 2024. It now makes up roughly half of the global population and more than 41% of world GDP (PPP). It’s an economic powerhouse, with top producers of key commodities like oil, gas, grains, meat, and minerals.
Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, the United Arab Emirates, and Indonesia have formed the world’s newest trading block and sanctions or tariffs against Russia or BRICS members by the US have not affected its growth.
Australia imposed sanctions on Russia, at the behest of the corrupt Biden administration three years ago and it seems Putin or Australia will not trade goods in the foreseeable future.
After US President Trump imposed crippling tariffs on Australian trade, we would have little to lose by applying for BRICS membership.
Indonesia, our nearest neighbour is the latest country to join up with nine other significant member countries. The US petro-dollar is almost dead in the water and world trade in dollars seems certain to come to an end particularly as its value is heading to the bottom after tariffs were imposed.

While Australia remains an outpost of the US being its unofficial 51st state, and it controls our trading policy and much of our political agenda, there could be significant ramifications for the ANZUS military pact and defence of the country could be shot to pieces should we join BRICS.
On the other hand if we joined as a trading and business partner having China as a member, their designs on our country would be diminished. Would we then need the US to defend us and from whom?
Meanwhile we could rebuild our depleted military without a US umbilical cord, negotiating new defence ties alongside that of our American arrangements.
Indonesia and India are members and already substantial trading partners with us for agricultural commodities and being a BRICS member, Australia could diversify and increase our markets.
The beef industry is already looking for new trading partners after Trump added 10 per cent to the cost of our beef exports to the US and now with bird flu being found in the American cattle herd, biosecurity agreements would never allow their beef to enter Australia under reciprocal trade.
In any event US domestic cattle prices are more then double that of Australia and our consumers would be unable to afford beef.
BRICS membership could see our grain exports expand and lift returns for our cereal, oil seed, sugar cane and cotton growers who have been stranded under stagnating prices for three decades.
The biggest hurdle for expanding our economy in the face of Labor’s de-industrialising of the nation would be a lack of political will.
Finding new markets for the relic of Australian manufacturing would be much easier for a BRICS member and would enable us to shrug off US apron strings while fortress America looks within.
We could re-invent our steel manufacturing which once produced some of the best steel in the world, double alumina and extrusions manufacturing provided the cost of electricity was slashed by a new government and not have fanciful US tariffs hovering over our heads. Crippling industrial laws would need to be revisited without union influence.
To keep pace with India and China, Australia would need to open more coal-fired power stations and offer significant tax incentives for re-emerging Australian-based industry including car production, all of which could be financed by our three trillion dollar superannuation fund.
Nuclear power for Australia is a pipe-dream of neo-Liberals which is unjustified considering the vast amount of coal we are sitting on and having unlimited fresh water next to already existing infrastructure..
Joining BRICS would be a venture only fresh political minds could contemplate and the current array of vision-less, political mandarins we are suffering at present are unable to see past their next pay check or backhander from Deep State.
We have such members, not of the political class but visionaries such as Bob Katter, Gerard Rennick, Clive Palmer, Malcolm Roberts, Alex Antic and Ralph Babet, et al who could join with the numerous entrepreneurs in the private sector such as Gina Reinhart just waiting for home-grown. low-interest development funds which would make Australia great again starting with nation-building projects like the ‘Iron Boomerang’.
Katter’s Copper String power line project has been supported by the Queensland Government and construction is up and running which will supply bulk electricity to the North West Minerals Province near Mt Isa which contains just about every known critical mineral and massive phosphate deposits crying out for reliable, cheap power.
Should Australia regain ownership of Darwin Port, the Northern Territory and West Australian minerals and agricultural production expansion could fire up with unlimited water from the Ord River scheme and huge untapped irrigation supplies across the Territory.
Australia could feed all of the BRICS member nations.
Joining the 10 BRICS members are eight partner countries that are on the path to full membership. These are:
- Belarus
- Bolivia
- Cuba
- Kazakhstan
- Malaysia
- Thailand
- Uganda
- Uzbekistan
Lets hope Australia can be added to this list before an adversary moves in.

It is the Global South (BRICS) that has the power now. I think Trump is realising that slowly.. hence the talks with Iran. If Israel/US attack Iran they will be attacking the Global South.. Belt & Road has 150 nations on board now. Australia will fall by the wayside and remain a backwater if they do not open their eyes soon.
The tariffs on China have backfired.

Onya Jase. On the ball big time. I do have a Woolies one street away and only buy the essentials I need, like tasmanian Mountain Water, which is the only water that goes down my gullet.
The basic rule is: “Do Not Eat Anything From China”, unfortunately, and grow your own if you can. I have some lamb coming next week straight off the farm from a bush cocky mate who I help beat up the local council.
And you may have heard that Coles beef is injected with that horrid cow flatulence rubbish. My country friend told me he had recently seen a coupe of peopel in lad coats injecting cows in a paddock, somewhere along hi travels. Suck, big time.
Hey folks,
Here’s an epic rant by Mike Adams aka the Health Ranger about Trump’s tariff destruction of the USA, going from about 19 minutes to 55 minutes in this 2 hour video…
[ https://www.brighteon.com/dc5176c9-de5d-4002-ab2c-a3b0cd227fa1 ]
Two observations…
1. Correlates with Martin Armstrong’s forecast of a world recession / depression getting well underway by the start of 2026 and bottoming out by late 2028.
2. Martin Armstrong has long warned of the fracturing and disintegration of the USA by sometime around 2030, with the EU also completely collapsing before then. Others are forecasting the breakup of Canada as well, although Mr. Armstrong hasn’t specifically commented on that in his open blogs.
So where will Australia be in all this when the Fat Lady finally sings? Maybe we should just hope to still be here after Exercise WWIII kicks off in late 2028.
Note that Saudi Arabia wanted to join BRICS but were not allowed.
China is a major founding partner of BRICS and Australia’s biggest customer, what supposedly changes ?
There is no utopia hiding around the corner, around any corner. We have already had the good times. Fortress Australia might be a better idea.

Rothschild’s the owners of the RBA and the Federal Reserve are the enemies of BRICS so their is no chance of BRICS having Australia as a member.
Could we do any worse than join the BRICS Nations? We already trade with many of these members if and when allowed. We are geographically closer to many of these countries than to Europe and U.S. so transport costs should be lower with trades in our own area.
If we are part of BRICS we are less likely to be pulled into a war against other member states that the U.S. or U.K would likely want us to be, as useful tools, as has happened over the last century.
The U.S. and Britain have already shown over the last century that they are not very reliable allies. When it suits them they go off in another direction and leave Australia out in the cold during their considerations. ( e.g. Britain to European Common Market in 1960’s)
The reason why Trump has to reinvent the US economy is because BRICS is an unbeatable attack on USD hegemony which the DeepState has been abusing since let’s say 1971, official dropping of the gold standard. Sometime after BRICS has demolished the hegemony ( already half dead ) Swissy will come in with wonderful convenient CBDC’s but that’s another story. Meantime BRICS is too disparate to have much relevance and trade will go on in various forms, the military alliances are another thing and Australia must be talking with the Philippines and VIetnam and Indonesia about low-key defence pacts, Look what they are doing in Indonesia they are so paranoid they are moving the capital to the east coast of Borneo, it’s happening. But Australia and the “5 eyes” ( remaining shreds of British Empire ) are going to get the 6uild 6ack 6etter treatment, which includes eradicating Useless Eaters, which is at least 50% of the population, and starting up new manufacturing, all the stuff we have been doing here is already obsolete and has been offshored to cheaper places, the new factories and mines will be full of robots and automation, send your kids to learn this stuff in tafe if you want them to have a chance in the cities. They will need to be useful instead of useless and anything resembling services will have to adjust to minimum wage since there will be no extra money around and service providers like lawyers, accountants and artists will have to compete with AI type of mush-brained creativity which is 1,000,000 times faster than them.
An iPhone costs $10 to make in China and it’s produced by AI.
‘Re-energising Australian-based industry [….] could be financed out of our three trillion dollars superannuation fund.’… “Hmmmm !!”
Back in the 1970s ALP Minister Rex Connor wanted to get
our hands of $4000 million Middle Eastern Oil money to
“Buy Back The Farm” that would be used to give Australia some control over its economic development. But that scandalous idea was soon shot down !
But the idea of having some soverign control over economic development didnt die, for soon it birthed the
idea of a national superannuation fund that could be used for the same purpose… But the private sector wasnt having it. In private sector hands such schemes, as we’ve seen, can be milked for lots of lovely profits…
“fanciful US tariffs.” To be fair, the 10% tariff matches the 10% Johnnie Howie’s GST [we’d never have] Australia charges US goods.
POTUS Trump wants countries to decouple their economies from Chinas’, or else tariffs will be imposed…
Australia is being asked “Which side are you on ?”
To avoid US imposed tariffs will the government wreck
Australia’s export industries, especially mining on which
so many Australians prosperity depends – China being
a major importer from the mining sector ?
Joining BRICS in my opinion would strip our Nation clean of anything we have left to offer coercively trading on China’s terms, not ours. We had a taste of trade restriction being placed on Australia in 2020 purely political in the sense of our government requesting an inquire into the origins of covid, this should have rung the alarm bells for any Western Nation where trade becomes the controlling arm of a dictatorship Government. One sole characteristic that stands out with China is their staunch manner of not loosing face on the Global stage. Do we want to be enslaved to a dictatorship of BRICS powers. We are a Western Christian nation in the sense of still holding some form of democracy and independent lifestyle to a degree, a culture worth fighting for. There is a misconception of feeding these BRICS nations in the article above, they do not need us, as they already produce from an agricultural sector all of what we have to offer, an oversupply of wine included.
The Globe is changing and should a transition to a multipolar environment eventuate I would rather be aligned to the existing western society of which we know where we stand.
And before someone raises the question on Trump tariffs doing as the Chinese have done to us above, that is more about the imbalance of of trade surplus and deficits between them. When we see China’s consumption status change amongst its own citizens economically allowing them to have the ability to purchase real estate in those ghost cities, then we may be all on a level playing field.
So no I do not agree with the article above.
Editor, cairnsnews said – “… there could be significant ramifications for the ANZUS military pact and defence of the country could be shot to pieces should we join BRICS…”
I call BS. Since when has the ANZUS pact ever been leveraged for Australia’s defence?
Here’s a fun fact, folks, where was the USA when Australia and New Zealand were busily “saving” East Timor in order to annex their oil resources?
Hint – the USA was on Indonesia’s side, folks!
ANZUS Schmanzus. The only thing that so-called “defence pact” has gotten Australia is involvement and culpability in every single one of America’s unprovoked wars of aggression against OUR near-neighbors across the Indo-Pacific region and beyond.
And Editor, cairnsnews said – “… On the other hand if we joined as a trading and business partner having China as a member, their designs on our country would be diminished. Would we then need the US to defend us and from whom?”
Defend us? Really? Dream on, and just BTW, good luck with that.
Meanwhile, Jase said – “… Putin has more brains in his sh#t than the 2.5 million unelected government employees in Australia…”
Granted, Australia would be far better off with a Putin poo sitting in each and every one of those chairs all across Australia, but in fairness to President Putin, it’s gonna take a LONG time for him to provide the necessary “personnel”. He’ll probably be needing one of those donuts by the time he’s done, if not outright reconstructive surgery.

It’s scary what people are eating obvious_bob, China have virtical Pig farming (high rise) the pigs are fed palatised human sh#t, then sold to centralised processing facilities like Colesworths in Australia.
Here is an article I wrote and was published by Cairnsnews.org on 10/March/2022.
obvious_bob, I buy my bacon from IGA, it’s called Noosa bacon. My beef and lamb also from IGA, Beef is Bingle Bay grass feed, and the Lamb is organic lamb.

One person gets/spreads Disease, Bacteria or maybe disasters like floods, fire, Power outages, or train derailment, road closure and Woolworths or Coles New centralised processing facilities grind to a halt.Hundreds of supermarkets all over Australia could run out of meat, fresh produce and groceries.
*We need local butchers back in the supermarkets for quality fresh guaranteed supply of local Aussie meat.
*We need local Aussie produce back on the supermarket shelves.
*We need quality 100% Aussie made food.
Meat and produce grown in Far North Queensland is now transported to Woolworths centralised processing facilities then sent back to FNQ doing more than 3500km (It’s near rotten before we can buy it)
Any idiot can see Woolworths end game here.
A) Monopolize the industry.
B) Price control local small business.
C) Dissolve market enterprise.
C) Force contract control on suppliers.
D) Centralisation of meat and produce processing facilities and distribution.
In my opinion Woolworths & Coles BIG plan is exporting quality Australian grown meat and produce overseas and import substandard second or third grade meat and produce for Australian supermarket shelves.
(Pork is already over 70% imported from China, Europe and USA)
Aussie’s have been asked to help and support local Australian farmers for years and in return is this what happens?
It appears the health departments are asleep at the wheel. If you think Covid is bad wait until our food has disease and bacteria (Remember the frozen Nana’s berries made in China that Thousands of Aussie’s got Hepatitis in 2015 ! *In 2016 10,202 or 6.5% of Deaths in Australia had Hepatitis)
The government should be watching this closely but they are having to much fun spreading fear with this bloody Covid crap or climate change (ABC), always a diversion while big corporations are playing with Australian food supplies.
Did anyone notice that all the big Virtue signalling donors to our major political parties sush as Woolworths, Coles, Bunnings etc also government employees NEVER LOST A CENT DURING COVID, Some actually doubled or tripled profits and wages.
(Fair dinkum Aussie’s can smell a rat)
Regards
Jase FNQ
A recent article in my local paper said that all pork in Australia is imported, which reminded me that I actually had an inkling about it and had forgotten. So no bacon purchases from Coles or woolies anymore, as the excellent local piggy boys and girls-Otway Pork is one of them- will get my business. I would not be surprised if imported pork is GMO stuff, so it is good that I rarely eat that stuff.
Another concern-and you can see this for yourselves-is the warning on Aldi prawns not to use those prawns as fishing bait.
A chap at the local Sunday market told me about it, saying that there is some bug in it that is not at all good for the fish in our oceans, but it seems it is okay for us dim-wits to eat.
Same for Basa fish, which is purportedly grown in the Mekong river which is apparently loaded with human excrement.
I told the federal fisheries and environment people about it but never got a reply.
Same bloke told me that in Victoria you cannot get your scuba tanks filled without a divers license. Never thought anyone would ever need one of those. What next, a license to have a swim???
The BRICS Portal posted this article a couple of days ago.
China and co don’t seem too happy with Canberra at the moment.
