Months ago, Trump made it quite clear, that the ultimate point of his tariff agenda was about bringing industry back to the United States, meaning a reversal of the industrial offshoring of U.S. industry by previous administrations.
Although extremely early days, the MAGA program is already showing positive signs of incipient reversal, where for example, Hyundai has announced a massive $20 billion investment with plans to open plants on U.S. soil, including a steel plant, Eli Lilly and J&J have committed over $55 billion to domestic manufacturing, GE Aerospace a massive $500 billion, etc, and then we have possibly one of the most important, which was firmly in the administration’s sights due to its pivotal role in the U.S. economy’s leading Mag-7 companies and dominant industry, – Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC), which will invest $165 billion, opening new plants and R&D centres in the U.S.
Nvidia is another and the list keeps growing.
Although the return of industry will prove positive in many respects [but not all], it will still not be enough to offset the impending recession, – that was set in stone by previous governments, so has nothing to do with the Trump administration. People just have to accept that and adapt appropriately.

It’s a lot more than tariffs, I have only heard Trump mention transitioning to a Multi Polar Global Order once, making him in my opinion well aware of where the US and the West have to change in global economics and trade to compete against an established BRICS + environment. The placards he held up with reciprocating tariffs in all countries is his answer in the short term in challenging BRICS + nations whilst the West readjusts to sovereign sustainability. We should all follow suit with similar reciprocating tariffs. For those that noticed, reciprocated tariffs between AUKUS nations were all similar, around 10% putting us on a level playing field.
On BRICS, at the moment, this is just another foreign exchange platform running parallel and independent to the existing West’s Swift system currently pegging their currencies to the U.S. dollar. They don’t need to introduce their own independent BRICS currency at this stage as this system just allows them to trade fluidly without the fear of economic sanctions, tariffs or any other regulatory barrier that limits their activity.
As for gold, the global market as like all other commodities determines the price of gold which at the moment has risen in price due to it being bought up frantically by central banks propping up their own reserves as an extra layer of national security should FX rates hyperbolically fluctuate. Gold in my opinion will never come back as a gold backed reserve or reach the US30000 an ounce as some gold buffs keep speculating due to its need in industry and in particular the jewellery markets that consume approx 50% of all gold produced annually.
There are so many economists out there that cannot see this taking place or are silent on this monumental change being played out live, which will become a historical moment on our calendar. We need our politicians and companies to understand and prepare for change.
