UPDATE: Boycotting some 200 pubs and clubs across Australia was a tall order, but Australian Venue Company suddenly saw the light when the threat “go woke, go broke” came across their desks.
Just when we hoped that the ideological claptrap being pushed by these corporate boards was going out of fashion, along came Australian Venue Company, owner of the 200 pubs and other venues Australia wide.
The company slapped loyal Australians in the face by demanding that its pub managers not celebrate Australia Day, prompting calls for Aussies to boycott their pubs on Australia Day.
Sky News host Paul Murray was left dumbfounded by the company’s decision. Apparently a spokesman for Australian Venue Co said January 26 causes “sadness” and “hurt” for customers. Oh really? Cairns News asked Australian Venues Co. to tell us who is actually grieved by Australia Day being celebrated at pubs, but then the big back down was announced.
Isn’t it interesting how these corporate boards can come up with these great “moral stands” and then back down when their bottom line is threatened. Corporate entities could save themselves a lot of embarrassment and earn respect simply by doing their job well, keeping the competition honest and keeping employees happy.
Queensland was the state that would be most impacted by the company’s decision, with some 90 venues to stop Australia Day festivities, followed by Victoria (60), South Australia (20) and New South Wales (10).
Some of the business impacted include Bungalow 8, Cargo and North Byron Hotel in NSW, the Esplanade Hotel, Prince of Wales and Duke of Wellington in Victoria and Port Office Hotel, The Lord Alfred and Waterloo Hotel in Queensland.
The stupid “politically correct” decisions made by corporate boards these days has been staggering – for instance Coles and a string of meat processors deciding to contaminate cattle feed for their beef and dairy herds with a toxic substance that can damage male reproductive organs. Oh, but it reduces the methane in cattle farts and burps!
We strongly suspect Australian Venue Co decided to pull this incredibly stupid stunt on behalf of some whining neo-Marxist Aboriginal activist group pushing a grievance narrative about “colonisation” and “genocide”.
Perhaps Australian Venues Co. could take a more meaningful approach to appease the radicals and pledge 10% of all liquor sale profits to indigenous causes?

There is much trickery in the word usage itself.
A “Sovereign Nation” for instance really means a “nation-state” or “a corporate entity with sovereign powers” such as the two entities COMMONWEALTH OF AUSTRALIA [SEC filing in Washington DC in 1934 already].
From what I can gather it appears that the original system of the Constitutional Commonwealth of Australia [lasted only for a relatively short time period between 1900-1919, perhaps in original form] is still in existence to this very day, but laying largely dormant due to the now non-existence of Constitutionally-approved money of substance as per the terms and conditions of original Constitution which in any case, was nothing more than a debt-repayment contract for debts of the country accrued between 1850-1900].
Then came the COMMONWEALTH OF AUSTRALIA CORPORATION at least as early as 1929 if not before, which has a SEC filing in Washington D.C. filed as early as 1934, a few years after the 1929 bankruptcy.
