A bankrupt Queensland Labor Party has resorted to sending its motor vehicle compliance hitmen (colloquially known as Mermaids) into privately owned car parks at shopping centres fining pensioners and lower socio-economic groups for having a minor crack in a windscreen or a worn tyre that could be down in tread but quite safe.
While we could say the Transport Department compliance officers are only doing their job, we should say they are being directed by Labor Treasurer Cameron Dick to strip as much loot as possible from hapless motorists who can barely afford to keep their vehicles on the road. In a private car park? Any smart solicitor should be able to tear up these tickets.
Queensland Labor’s Treasury was forced to repay several hundred thousand dollars it ripped off Malanda motorists in November after tenacious Katters Australian Party member for Hill Shane Knuth took on the Main Roads Department and its dodgy, inaccurate speed camera which was set up on the edge of town.

Fuel at $2 a litre in the Tablelands town of Mareeba, which includes a federal excise of 49.6 cents a litre plus GST, is just another Labor/UN attack on transport and the food supply chain. Coupled with registration and insurance costs, add on exorbitant car repair charges and tyres going through the roof it is almost impossible to keep a car on the road, and for a town council that refuses to introduce a local bus service, pensioners again feel the full brunt of the spiralling cost of living.
Local supermarket shelves are often more empty than full, red meat charges of $25 a kilo for inedible steak coupled with Coles and Woolworths’ ‘million mile’ fruit and vegetables after local produce is shipped 1800 klms south to Brisbane markets then suffers another 1800 klms return trip to shelves in the far north with a 100 per cent or more markup.
Any spare money the Labor socialists get their hands on is funnelled into the bottomless pit of the 2032 Brisbane Olympics preparations.
Don’t think voting for the Liberals in October will make any difference. They too support the Games that in all probability will never take place.

It’s the French again, the frogs as my ex WWI soldier grandfather used to call them. They have no complied with these demands, and so their contracts are all null and void.

We didn’t sign up for it, it was foisted on us from birth in such a way that there was only one system and that was the contract law ( admiralty ) system, now the government has fingers in the till every move you make and next with the CO2 bullshit credits they intend to be charging for the air as well, which people used to joke about 50 years ago, well now it’s coming true.

We can’t complain about what they are doing because we signed up for it and agreed to all their rules and regulations and even attached our image to the signature so that there would be no mistake or misinterpretation of our contract with the corporation to comply with.

It is true that they make it very difficult for anyone to operate without their issued Driver License however, it is not impossible if you really are that incensed about their seeming abuses.
As long as we keep to the rules and regulations and are honorable and courteous with their agents, we can be okay plus there is a safety factor involved which no one can deny.
It is not that hard to stay within their rules (the ones we signed up and agreed to when we took out the driver license), and complaints about their agent’s behavior can hardly gain traction when one lives according to honor and righteousness.

Hey guys when you are reporting, please tell the truth and don’t put something up for click bait. The Malanda speed camera issue is still ongoing. No one has been refunded any money, certainly not “hundreds of thouands of dollars. No one has even gone to court yet. Member for hill Shane Knuth has asked the transport minister several times for a calibration certificate, but one has not been produced. This is our defence WHEN we take them to court.
It’s much more profitable to penalise as many people as possible, that’s why we have to pay crash insurance about $500 per year every year as part of the registration fees even if we never crashed into anyone in our lives, but people who do crash and put someone in hospital what happens, nothing, they are free to go out and do it again. In the same way it’s more profitable to punish victimless “crime” such as speed traps and “infringements” while the actual problem cases who are often teenagers, late at night, drink and drugs, country roads, recent immigrants etc are not targeted because it’s just too hard to make a buck that way. I could get around in an old jalopy with no safety features including no seat belts without incident but nanny state would be on my case straight away to suck out a bunch of dollars. I don’t know how people live and pay rent on $80k since tax and the whole spectrum of government bills takes up most of that, I guess they have to go to “food bank” after work.

Don’t believe this BS about police work being dangerous or even hard. A young man I met as a bus driver told me he was a policeman and left because it was too stressful. 2 or 3 months later he had resigned and was going back to the police force (Qld). Oh, why was that? Bus driving in Brisbane is too stressful!
Hey, what can be stressful about driving around in a nice sporty car all day and booking drivers etc, or operating speed traps. Hey, gotcha! 1kph over the limit.
One bus driver was booked for doing 61kph measured by the speedo of the copper following behind. The driver claimed he was very carefully sitting on 59kph as he always did. (I always did too). The depot tested the bus speedo and it was spot on. The union took it to court and won.
But personally, I do admit that I have never been unfairly treated by Qld police. I’m always friendly.
