22 November 2017: Bob Katter MP, Federal Member for Kennedy, is furious former Deputy Prime Minister Barnaby Joyce took part in selling Adani to China after news the Adani Group is close to securing finance for its coal mine and railway track in coming weeks with Chinese state-owned enterprises, banks, and export credit agencies backing the venture.
Media reports a director of Adani Mining said just days ago they would no longer need funding from Northern Australia Infrastructure Facility (NAIF) and a formal announcement of a financial close was imminent. It was reported in The Australian on Nov 14th Former Deputy Prime Minister Barnaby Joyce and Trade Minister Steven Ciobo wrote to top Chinese officials to vouch for Indian giant Adani. The report said they sent a letter to the chairman of China’s powerful National Development and Reform Commission saying they welcomed “foreign lending to support the development of major projects in Australia”.

“If you sell your country out, then you’re a traitor,” Mr Katter said.
It was also reported Chinese enterprises and export credit agencies invariably require that materials for key infrastructure are sourced from China, effectively shifting work out of Australia and undermining Adani’s claims its project will create many thousands of additional jobs for Queensland.
“Half Australia’s coal reserves will be controlled by whoever owns that railway line. It was not good enough for the ALP and LNP to sell our coal seam gas, now worth $25b a year. This is enough money to restore our outpatients at our hospitals, and give every pensioner and young families 10 grand each and every year.
“We sold the gas for 6 cents a unit we are now buying it back for $16 a unit – our own Australian gas. And now we are going to do the same thing with coal.
“Does anyone think a spineless Government in Canberra are going to stand up to the Chinese Government when they take over all of our unexploited coal reserves? The Greenies think they will stand up to that? Do they think the spineless ALP Government will stand up against the Chinese Government? No, they won’t.
“This will go down as the biggest sell out in our country in Australian history, and will let all the world know that Former Deputy Prime Minister Barnaby Joyce and LNP PM Malcolm Turnbull will go down in the history of Australia in infamy,” Mr Katter said.
Joyce and Ciobo were never my headline be careful whom you accuse Wayne Tenni. Read the comments. If you want to discuss Joyce and Ciobo I don’t for reasons you should know.
There is no misinformation, I leave that to you, you are so much better at spin.

Thanks Wayne for your valuable contribution. The point missed in this offer of Chinese finance is the requirement by the Chinese mandarins for Chinese jobs tied to the project funding. There will never be more then 2000 temporary jobs for this mine including construction. How many will be overseas workers? Ed

Irene, why do you feel it necessary to continually propagate false information via the internet? Barnaby Joyce’s dual citizenship has been renounced, which is why he is now eligible to run for his seat in a Bi-election. Steven Ciobo’s citizenship to my knowledge has never been in question.
Chinese finance is a loan agreement between the Chinese and Adani – it’s not ownership of Australian soil. The State Government’s original offer was also in the form of a loan, not ownership. No one is promising Australia to the Chinese. Please make some attempt to be accurate in your assertions, otherwise they are just misleading and deceptive opinions.

Let’s stand up against these LNP traitors, the Adani and Chinese banks which is going to finance the Carmichael project. Joyce and Ciobo cannot sell our lands, Seas, minerals and employment to foreigners. Wake up Queenslanders, The Carmichael project will not generate employment for Queensland as foreign workers and infrastructure equipments will be imported!

Absolutely disgusting to have this filthy mine which will endanger the Great Artesian Basin. Put the money into renewables, there will be many jobs from them I’m sure. The damage this mine will cause outweighs any thought of letting it become a reality. Please all politicians have a conscience, don’t ruin our beautiful farmland and our precious water for a corrupt Company like ADANI.

This is an abysmal development. It shows complete contempt for the people of this land and scorn for the future of the planet. It is an ideologically driven action by those with a born-to-rule view of their position in life not to accede to any view of governance for all, instead to benefit themselves.
There is no benefit for this country or it’s people. Not employment, not the health of the GBR, not royalties, not clean energy, not clean air. There is only the stench of contempt for us. Now we have to resist.

Government is elected to govern the country not to make it easy for foreign takeovers. Australia needs Adani like we need a hole in the head. Thousands of jobs will be lost
in Tourism and our priceless Great Barrier Reef will suffer from the coal mining. The last time I flew to Brisbane I noticed at 30,000 ft, what looked like fat cigars in the sea. I realised they were coal carriers travelling over the Reef. If we allow the Adani mine, an Indian company on Chinese finance, we open the door to a Chinese takeover of Australia. In the 1870s Northern Australia suffered an invasion of Chinese miners which only the first bill in our newly Federated Parliament halted – it was the hated White Australia Policy. Are we ready to re-inact this Bill? The way we are going it may be necessary or the High Court could come to our aid as Steve Ciobo and Barnaby Joyce are both dual citizens and have no authority whatsoever to be promising Australia to the Chinese. by arranging Chinese finance for this Indian mine
