This is Wivenhoe Dam and the wall holding the water back is the road across the dam wall coming from Fernvale. You can just see the dam gates. This is why so much water had to be released. If this dam wall had burst everything from there to the ocean would have been wiped out and many would have died. This dam actually held back more water than hit Brisbane in the 1974 flood.-contributed
