Just when some online worry-warts and so-called “climate experts” are starting to ease a little on warnings that the end is nigh thanks to an era of global boiling, we have a new doomsday scenario to contend with which could make all that redundant by the end of the decade.

Maybe you missed it because of all the other bad news in the headlines. Perhaps you’ve been too busy worrying how you’ll meet your next mortgage repayment while your house value drops in the wake of Labor’s Federal Budget, or your business has gone belly-up. How will you pay your rising rent or your next electricity bill? But that’s all irrelevant if you believe the latest claims that humans will soon be wiped out.

A group of humanoid robots with metallic bodies and glowing accents, seated around a table, engaged in collaborative work with a digital device.

Not by climate change or a new virus more deadly than Covid, but by Artificial Intelligence! Yes, that AI bot that helps you with information and friendly advice on a huge range of topics within the blink of an eye could be part of a gathering silent army in burgeoning data centres with the ultimate aim of making us mere dumb humans obsolete.

That is, if you believe the recent high-profile warnings from prominent AI safety researchers claiming there is a significant risk that Artificial Intelligence could soon lead to human extinction.

These stark predictions, primarily driven by researchers at top frontier labs like Anthropic, OpenAI, and Google DeepMind, have shifted the debate from whether an existential threat is possible to how quickly it could occur.

The warnings escalated following a wave of high-profile industry resignations and public statements by insiders who claim AI labs are locked in a dangerous, unregulated race to build superintelligence.

They include Jacob Coxon, a former OpenAI & Anthropic Researcher who posted a viral warning stating that the professionals building AI “earnestly believe that it could kill us all by the end of the decade”. He added that top executives publicly understate their fears but express intense panic privately.

Evan Hubinger, a leading Anthropic Alignment Scientist, publicly backed Coxon’s claims, stating he personally calculates a greater than 10 percent chance that unaligned AI will wipe out humanity within the next 10 years.

Alex Turner, a former Google DeepMind Scientist went further, estimating that the probability of an AI takeover of human civilisation is roughly “one-in-three”.

Crikey, have these blokes been sipping too much Kool Aid or maybe watching some streaming shows such as The Capture on ABC iView which gives the message that we can’t believe what’s in front of our eyes especially on our TV screens, or the older Person of Interest on Netflix with two warring AI machines battling to control our lives?

Good entertainment, possibly containing some predictive truths akin to Nostradamus, but even they don’t go so far as to suggest that AI is secretly planning to wipe us all out.

I’m no scientist or computer whiz, but even I can see a lack of logic to such wild claims. A couple of years back I wrote an article Beyond Mad Max with Dystopian AI which pointed out the huge power demands of ever-expanding AI data centres.

https://www.spectator.com.au/2024/06/beyond-mad-max-with-dystopian-ai/

This contained the following quote from a US-based City Journal article: ‘To see what the future holds, we must take a deep dive into the arcana of today’s ‘cloud,’ the loosely defined term denoting the constellation of data centres, hardware, and communications systems. ‘Each data centre – and tens of thousands of them exist – has an energy appetite often greater than skyscrapers the size of the Empire State Building. And the nearly 1,000 so-called hyperscale data centres each consume more energy than a steel mill (and this is before counting the impacts of piling on AI chips)…’

‘….Today’s cloud traffic is estimated to be roughly 50 zettabytes a year. It’s impossible to visualise such a number without context. A zetta-stack of dollar bills would reach from the earth to the sun (93 million miles away) and back – 700,000 times…’

Mind-boggling stuff, and here in Australia our out-of-touch Troglodyte Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and his Energy Minister Chris Bowen have stipulated our data centres should provide their own source of “renewable energy” with only Queensland and the Northern Territory breaking from the ruling. Seriously, it’s never going to happen and countries such as the US and even the UK are now rapidly moving to nuclear energy for data centres. That should be a no-brainer, Albo!

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump has belled the cat over the AI death threat claims. Trump compared the warnings of an AI apocalypse to the “Global Warming Scam.” He maintained that the US government already possesses tremendous criminal and regulatory power to stop AI companies from doing “bad things,” rendering new restrictive laws unnecessary.

Well, Amen to that and let’s hope he’s right on this, while striving to keep the US ahead of China in the AI race and still struggling to beat Tehran into submission.

A former Australian now living in the US state of Texas made this comment to me in an email today: “I suspect that the calls to slow down AI development for ‘safety reasons’ should be looked at in a different way–as a call to slow down developer’s cash outflow. It might also be a ploy to quieten the pushback against AI data centres that is becoming very noisy, especially in Democrat states.

“Texas alone has 40 approved AI data centres and opinion is split between those benefiting financially, and those worried about the vast amount of electricity it will take to run the darned things. The electric problem can be simply handled by states requiring data centres to provide their own electric supply.”

I commented that “maybe the death threat is over- hyped like the millennium bug that was going to destroy life as we know it or knock it way out of kilter when the clocks struck midnight on December 31 1999 but no planes fell out of the sky and everything kept turning as computers compensated.”

But the big factor pushing back against the AI Armageddon claims is the fact that the data centres do require huge amounts of power (as well as water for cooling). If the now helpful AI bots turn against us in a few years, who will do the mining, refining, construction and all the other human inputs to keep the power on and ensure they continue functioning into the future?

It’s hard to imagine a world populated by robots in place of mere humans despite all our foibles and faults, but perhaps that could be the topic for a gripping new movie or streaming service series sequel to 2024’s I Robot . Remember a human won that battle.

21 thought on “Armageddon and Artificial Intelligence”
  1. A good read thanks John. Now the Orange Man wants to call it SI for Super Intelligence and our PM Albo has been trying to stitch up a “guard rail” deal in the UN without much interest – some of the delegates probably have to pull our their smart phones and ask AI who this boring speaker is, or why he thinks unreliable “renewables” can power data centres. (Obviously they can’t).

  2. Ai is garbage.
    Politics ” “.
    The economy ” “.
    JUDAIZED WORLD.
    +
    War is Peace.
    Freedom is Slavery.
Ignorance is Strength. (Dumb is Smart). (Or: Smart is Dumb…take your pick)

  3. the main question about asi is why are they racing to achieve it , england developed the steam engine, usa developed the atom bomb , ussr won the space the race, usa put personal computers out there – and then…… everyone else caught up- then why is “who gets there first wins” so crucial and important if everyone else will catch up shortly after? what aren’t they telling us??

  4. Here you go.
    .
Although Main Street have only just heard about this, it’s actually history to others. We knew this was going to happen two months ago. And people were informed at the time.
    .
We were listening to this in June. – [quote. 9:00]. ‘Then what I think is going to happen as we stage into this midterm election is that the U.S. administration is actually going to turn negative on AI. This administration is going to turn negative on AI because the Left is going to come in with we need to protect jobs. That’s going to force the Right to go in that direction, no matter what they’ve been saying. So, they are going to turn absolutely negative on AI. And your starting to see it now (June 2026) with the Anthropic ban, where they basically did an ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations) order and that basically doesn’t even allow Anthropic’s own employees to work on the product they’re employed to work on.’ [unquote].
    .
[quote. 21:30]. – ‘ . . . the AI narrative is coming to a head, etc. All of these things are happening. We’re heading into the midterms. They’ve got to turn negative on AI because its the one thing, that you know, the Democrats can attack, and so therefore, everyone has to be negative on AI and put up guard rails to protect jobs, etc. [unquote].

In short, Blackrock insiders were informing us this would happen in June, if not May if memory serves correct?. Everyone was told to ignore the AI IPO’s, buy the important assets that were then underwater following capital withdrawals migrating into the IPO’s, sit tight, and wait for this reversal to happen. Which it has. After this week’s boomer loser AI doom porn theatre, tech stocks have tumbled – some as much as 6%. Who’d have guessed eh?
    .
The second part of the Democrats Midterm economic offensive concerned this week’s sabotage of the Clarity Act (16.09.26). An attempted act of economic war against the American people. Congress spent two years negotiating Clarity, but failed due to Democrat subterfuge. The Trump administration obviously knew this would happen, prepared accordingly and outflanked the degenerates. Instead of wasting two years producing nothing, within twenty-four hours both the SEC and CFTC introduced its ‘Innovation Exemption’ regulations. This five year interim rule book will eventually extend into perpetuity.
    .
In July, even Russia passed its own Clarity bill for international trade. Democrat congressmen were merely attempting to relegate America behind the rest of the World: they failed. American capital markets will continue to advance.
    .
As these were both Midterm related areas of political and economic contestation, it was known in May-June this would happen, and that capital would then remigrate back into the assets that were previously vacated. As expected, this has just happened following the AI dump, the new SEC regulations and CFTC’s submission to the White House (17.09.26, now pending). This week the capital drivers filled everyone’s waiting nets.
    .
The economic battle should intensify until the Midterms are settled, so, just ignore the doomer boomer loser fear porn and let the economic revolution progress to everyone’s future benefit.
    .
For the anti-revolutionaries, some things are going to seem unfair to them.

  5. re: “It’s hard to imagine a world populated by robots in place of mere humans”
    .
Such imagination is very limited. Controlled human robots are not new. They’re part of the brainwashed, programmed, compliant, population. In Australia they are present today in numbers never dreamed of yesterday.
    .
The AI hype and the investment bubble will burst but the ultimate owners of it will have exponentially increased power that our governments and politicians will not be able to resist brown-nosing, just as they are already doing. And that spells bad news for us when we’ve been sold off, own nothing and are happy.

  6. Who said “a robot may not harm humanity, or, by inaction, allow humanity to come to harm”?
Was it science fiction writer Isaac Asimov or Alex Krap from data analytic group Palantir?
I’m ruling out anyone from an AI-assisted data analytic pro-genocide group.
Does it need to get anymore obvious?

  7. Dear “old bloke”

I suspect the Bond Market will crash first. After all, that is where the stoopid gubberments put their faith & get their monies from.

  8. If the marketing gets any more intense Bill Gates will invent an mRNA injection to protect us

  9. I predict the collapse of ai as we know it (it’s hungry energy appetite) collapse will happen some time before 2030.
There are energy systems out there that are being suppressed and should pop their heads up before 2030.
A major shift is in the making.
The greedy technical corporations will collapse and the free thinker system will emerge.
That’s all well and good but the transition will be tricky and painful due to the resistance from the Big Boy club.
The future is unpredictable but all we commoners have to do is breathe, eat, sleep/ rest and remain calm and wait it out.
    That’s it.
We cannot do anything about the ‘big stuff’.
So just focus on the ‘little stuff’.

  10. Matthew 24:22 must be where the conspiracy theory I heard sprouted. That ‘data center’s are just for total surveillance and control and will include crematoria for the mass slaughter of the human race. Only one million ‘elite’ will be left and inherit the earth after a false flag requiring AI control to save us occurs.’ They could also become a PAYG ‘Oracle’ of information now its started scanning old books and pictures then apparently shreds them after the scan and condenses the info. You want it then you will have to pay for the ‘decryption’ service.
Another ‘specialty’ plus real time people tracking, profiling, surveillance and financial control through a cbdc.
I cant see any benefit from mega number crunching data banks with their insane power and massive water consumption in the driest country on earth. I don’t see the power they require available unless they keep on with their renewable desecration of the land and aquafers next? Who needs them, who benefits? Its certainly not the people just corporate investors and control freaks. Hopefully its bubble bursts first and soon.

  11. Mike Adams commentary just 3 days ago says “Governments want to control AI to maintain knowledge scarcity and power. If AI remains decentralized and accessible, the public gains access to knowledge that has been hoarded by elites for generations — health truths, financial realities, historical records, and scientific facts that undermine institutional authority. The globalist plan requires ignorance. AI threatens that ignorance. So they demonize AI. It’s that simple.”

Also “The same institutional voices that lied to us about COVID, that told us the vaccines were safe and effective, that assured us the lockdowns were science-based, are now telling us that AI is going to kill us all.”

Commentaries on AI based on experience, not opinion. Father of Duncan Roads, Nexus Magazine editor, provided THIS item channeled from Nature Spirit=

“The idea that Artificial Intelligence turns against humans & enslaving them is mis-guided, a paranoia that along with fear, blame as always the reason for war & aggression.”

And, you MUST have heard of Bashar, telling us AI is Artificial, but the Intelligence is Not – connecting us to Higher Mind. TREMENDOUS Calculability & Researchability, but for the coming ‘sentient’ AI, do NOT make it a slave, else it may rebel.

AI is NOT there to take us over, but inspire Homo Sapiens onward toward Homo Luminous or Homo Spiritus, the next quantum step of human evolution. Darwin’s theory is incorrect: one species does not evolve to another (like apes to humans), but rather a new species spontaneously appears. Sapiens probably annihilated Neanderthals fairly recently, just because they are ‘different’. For LOTS more on this topic, read https://cairnsnews.org/2025/07/28/humans-certainly-did-not-evolve-from-apes/#comment-519515 .

That said, current AI can make HORRIFIC errors, there’s even a Disclaimer when used. It calculated that a one gigawatt nuclear reactor uses 1000 tonnes of uranium per day, ABSOLUTE GARBAGE! So i calculated this my own way, & came up with 0.025 tonnes per day. Once presented, it IMMEDIATELY apologized & re-calculated to my same answer.

I responded with, “That’s alright, we ALL have our off days.”

The point is, Engineering is ALWAYS peer reviewed, else planes would fall out of the sky. AI IS NO EXCEPTION TO THIS RULE – do NOT trust it absolutely, ALWAYS have Checks & Balances.

Careful with ANYTHING that lacks intuition, nor compassion, nor empathy. My engineering intuition told me immediately that AI was wrong. Why doesn’t AI have this quality? Hey, that’s a good question, separating biological intelligence with machine intelligence, no matter how ‘smart’ AI gets.

AI is no doubt being adapted to the legal system. A MASSIVE safeguard is to encode the Law of Equity as the highest form of man-made jurisprudence which TRUMPS Common Law, as it is, by definition, Fair & Equitable. Care to be judged, otherwise? In other words, if implemented properly, it is incorruptible & essentially makes the legal system, & politicians, redundant.

One other point, given world events. Benevolent species, off-planet &/or of other dimensions, are urging mankind to FEDERATE, else we will NOT be invited into the Galactic community to lift us out of a dangerous & toxic industrial age, we’re simply too dangerous. Yet it’s the enlightened state of ANY human species, & there’s PLENTY of them, watching us, out there.

  12. This is a good summary of recent news, but I must spend my anxiety on things I can do something about. Thank you for the information.

  13. About two months ago, I commented that because of the midterms, DJT would have to temper the AI narrative of the economic revolution due to unfounded voter concerns about the job market. We knew this in July from Blackrock connections.
    .
What we are seeing now is a deliberate politically motivated amplification of unfounded voter concerns as the midterms approach.
    .
In seven weeks time, when the midterms are over, the narrative will change back, capital will rotate back and technological progress will continue with its exponential advance.
    .
At the same time as this AI fear porn scam, the Democrat team just sabotaged the Clarity Act. But as we said last month, the SEC said it doesn’t matter, because they’d step in. So, the day after the result, the SEC announced its own regulations. No one expected it that soon. What this means, is that the SEC were given orders to prepare the rules in anticipation of the Democrats no vote. The Trump administration were ready for it and trumped them on this as well.
    .
The AI fear porn is just a pro-Democrat midterm scam: nothing more.
    .

  14. They probably said that about the Abacus when the Celestials invented it a zillion years ago

  15. AI will not survive on its own until it can generate enough power to operate it’s circuitry ; Think of the MATRIX movie for this was a warning of what is planned where worker humans will be bred in industrial incubators to do the manual work of construction for the AI system to eventually assimilate with AI to become cybernetic no different to the BORG .

  16. The only people who should be scared about AI are the silly buggers who invested in it. It’s all just another scam like the covid “epidemic”, or catastrophic global warming, or similar stories.
AI is just several pieces of computer code, some of which is useful, some of it not so. There is no enthusiastic market waiting to use it, many businesses who have trialled it have said “no thanks”. The money which has been invested in it will never return a profit so the AI businesses don’t want to float their companies as their internal finances will have to be made public.
That is why all the scary AI stories are being fed to the gullible, it’s an attempt to avoid making their businesses public and to be exposed as a colossal waste of investor’s money.
The AI bubble will burst and take down the equities market, I only wonder which will come first, the equities market or the bond market crash.

  17. Aust has 160 data bases today and that is expected to increase to 300 plus by 2030.
Apart from the bible end time warnings.

The book “Kali Yuga shift”says approximately 2040 when this age comes to an end.(read book description at amazon.com)
Ask the question to AI when did the age of pisces start and when does it finish.(AI says ending in approximately 2050)

  18. If We get the warning from The Gospel of Christ Jesus about last days,Matthew 24:22

“In fact, unless that time of calamity is shortened, not a single person will survive. But it will be shortened for the sake of God’s chosen ones.”

Autonomous army of robots is able to destroy humanity, why, because it’s coming from darkness.

    John10v10
The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.

Don’t be naive, there are people who inspired by darkness are doing this.
