Farage joined with the establishment to condemn the style of the protest at Dover, where hundreds of men in black and with face masks turned up to protest Britain’s continuing open-door immigration policy, exploited by mainly Moslem men of military service age.
Farage says he supported the anti-migrant sentiment of the demonstration, but explicitly condemned and “deplored” the protesters wearing masks and balaclavas, and then called for a complete ban on all face coverings, as if to sanitize his stance with some anti-Moslem sentiment.
A protest employing the same tactic was repeated last weekend at Portsmouth, another southern coast port of call for illegal immigrants who cross the English Channel in rubber rafts supplied by people traffickers operating out of northern France.
In contrast to Farage, Rupert Lowe, leader of Restore Britain, openly supported the men in black, and pointed out in a personal video message that Britain’s illegal immigrant crisis was being facilitated by Britain’s Labor Party leadership under new Prime Minister Andy Burnham.
Lowe’s solution for immigration is a secure island with a tented camp and “bowls of porridge and absolutely no benefits whatsoever” – a tactic that would probably dissuade 75% of the Channel crossers.
Lowe’s message is clear and straightforward: “What we want is secure borders, a sovereign nation and one that is governed in the interests of the British people,” he said.
“It’s now got past platitudes and niceties. We now need action and delivery from those people who are paid to protect the interests of the British people.”
The masks and black clothing serve a very practical purpose in helping shield the identities of protesters whose faces will be scanned by the totalitarian UK government, which is responsible for the arrests of at least 62,000 people in England and Wales for “communications-related offences” over a recent five-year period (averaging over 12,000 arrests annually or about 30 a day).
