A man has been charged with eight counts of attempted murder after an alleged hit and run on the Sunshine Coast that has left a young woman fighting for life.
Detective Acting Inspector Peter Hocken said police believed a vehicle deliberately struck eight pedestrians on Aerodrome Road in Maroochydore just before midnight on Saturday.

Police said the 38-year-old driver of the Toyota Yaris fled the scene and was arrested in a nearby residence a short time later.
A 24-year-old New South Wales woman was flown to Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital where she remains in a critical condition.
“She came from New South Wales to visit some family members as a surprise and was only meant to be staying for a couple of days,” Acting Inspector Hocken said.
Two 18-year-old men and a 19-year-old man were taken to Sunshine Coast University Hospital in serious conditions, but they have since been released.
The 38-year-old man is due to face court in Maroochydore on Monday. – ABC

If it’s anything like gun control, you have to ban just the type of car that was involved, for example in this case, a ban on Toyota Yaris in Queensland. The crazy driver in Flinders & Swanston St Melbourne used a Holden or some such car, therefore a ban on that Holden or some such type of car would apply in Victoria. If you can’t understand this what are you doing reading newspapers. It’s perfectly clear.

Apparently those over 60 will now need a sign on their cars to say they are seniors. Unspoken language ‘seniors are dangerous. Watch out.

How strange. Hardly any cars around when I come home late from a show.
Perhaps they may have seen the warning sign on my car and gone into a back street until I pass.

A motor vehicle of any sort is obviously a potentially far more deadly weapon than any gun, but as such devices can’t be used to defend oneself against government thuggery and as they present infinite taxation potential, a ban would be not only pointless but detrimental to a useful control mechanism
Yes, your headline is correct. Albo has already announced a complete ban on all private cars by 2030 so that this heroic decision saves our planet from complete destruction due to out of control global warming.
More likely they will use this as a pretense/ excuse, to install more surveillance cameras, in order to keep us safe & to protect us etc.
