I was really hoping it would not come to this, but now I’m being sued for defamation in the Federal Court.
After my email in July, so many of you wrote asking how you could help.
The truth is, I can’t face this fight alone – I do need you with me.

This case stems from a media release I issued about the Central Land Council – a release I published in good faith, because I was elected to raise the issues that matter to you and to speak for those who have no voice.
I did my duty as your Senator.
But this case isn’t just about me.
It’s about you – and whether I can continue to be your voice.
If they win, they could bankrupt me.
And that means I would lose my seat in the Senate – and your voice in Parliament would fall silent.
I cannot let that happen. But I can’t fight this alone.
The legal fees for a Federal Court case are enormous.
To have any chance of standing up, I must raise as much as possible by the end of August to fund my legal defence.
That’s why I need you now.
Every contribution will go exclusively to fund my legal defence.
The trial begins in October, and I will walk into that courtroom with my head held high – because I’ll know you are standing with me.

Financial audit coming
Cairns News contacted a source in Canberra asking why the Central Land Council has not been financially audited. The source said a governance audit was conducted in 2023 and the CLC agreed to:
- conduct fraud risk assessments regularly, in accordance with its Fraud Policy; and
- implement a fraud control plan to manage fraud risks identified during the assessments.
The source said a financial audit had not been conducted by the National Audit Office in 2023 but it was expected the CLC would undergo a forensic, financial audit before the end of this year.
We asked who would be conducting the audit but the source said it was yet to be determined.
Once the defamation legal process begins Jacinta is entitled to complete discovery which undoubtedly would find many irregularities within the CLC.

As a senator doing her job I cannot see how she can be sued. Surely she has protection as a Member of par;liament. Otherwise they would all be sued for their lies and false statements. Is this even true???
It seems Central Land Council has not changed in 3 decades!
In 1993 we travelled around Oz in a caravan, and when we reached the Plenty Highway, stayed at Gem Tree C.P.
The owner told us many tales about the local Aborigines and one that sticks in my mind is the following.
There was a large, local cattle station nearby, worked solely by Indigenous people…their books were in the black and the station was making money.
In comes the L.C. who told the station workers to take ” sit down money”! and the L.C. would take over the running of it.
You can guess what happened?
Very soon the books were in the red and the whole thing was a mess.
These Land Councils are thieving criminals….they should be audited every year like anyone else!

Drongo, Financial audits are not in real time inspections, A Harley Davison motorcycle can be brought as an agricultural motorcycle!
A RAM truck can be brought as a agricultural vehicle!
Despite the people on the Land councils not living on Country or Native tite lands or the property, nore do they do any physical work on Country or Native title lands or the property that is the primary source used to acquire the grants.
I live on Native title lands, on a property under lease from a Aboriginal corporation in Cape York and I can tell you first hand it’s all corruption, fraud, deception, theft, and it’s millions of dollars every month going to people on land councils and Aboriginal corporations that live it up in City’s and major towns fleasing the system every bloody day.

In any court, simply file a Requisition for Trial by Jury, which is “a demand for something by virtue of a right”, and have “the lawful judgment of your equals” sort it all out.

Just a few problems with this article.
– the picture shows no one from central land council. It does show the Chairs of Northern and Anindilyakwa land councils though.
– JP is not being sued by central land council. The CEO is suing her for defamation in his personal capacity. For publicising statements about him in his role as the CEO.
– the NT news which published an article with similar statements removed the article and published an apology soon after. JP refused to do so.
– JP has dropped the truth defence and now is relying on qualified privilege which seems like a long bow to draw.

– the statement that a ‘forensic financial audit will be conducted by the end of the year’ is pure fabrication.
And obviously the statement that ‘once the defamation process begins…’ is ignorant that it was filed on September 2024 with orders on the federal court website at NTD17/2024.
Bibi (a most unfortunate handle in current times), I dont know if English is your first language, however ‘throw, toss, chuck a penny’, or a dollar, a maybe a shekel’ is Australian vernacular meaning to contribute financially. Not a literal penny. We havent had pennies in Australia since decimalisation in 1966. They may still use them in England, though I doubt even that. The USA is stopping making copper coins.
This was my point. I dont know her, I dont follow politics. I cant cast a vote, or a penny, or aspersions in any direction without the info.
The point I was making was that there was not enough info in this article to help me decide whether she had a case or not.
The article wasnt ‘self-contained’.
Seemed like begging with no substance, as there was no claims, nor background info, nor quotes of the suspected defamatory statements.
This ‘Help, I need money, this land council is being an asshole’ article doesnt give me a whole lot to go on.
All land councils need to be extinguished along with grants without receipts.
These scumbag land councils come into Cape York baring gifts and promises for signatures to obtain grants or fraudulent job security for the scumbags.
All that money and kids in the Cape still got no bread to make a sandwich but all the land council scumbags driving brand new landcrusers or flying about in choppers.
I personally know of many grants that were fraudulent but this one took the cake, an Aboriginal corporation got a grant for New beginnings on land, this one person went and brought a Harley Davison.
Tell me how do all theses Murray’s on land councils and Aboriginal corporations with land leases where there are no cattle or farming practices done continue to obtain grants to by RAM trucks, Flash motorbikes, you name it and nobody checks up on it?
Tes… If all you are going to throw Jacinta’s way is a penny.. forget the whole thing & move on. Jacinta needs backing from those who trust her integrity & character.
If Jacinta and her followers had a brain, they would realize that the Admiralty Court system is not legitimate, and she does not have to answer to it.
Instead, she would form a Common Law court and charge the government with gross fraud and deception.

I have no way to get a feel as to whether her comments were justified, or whether they were defamatory.
So, hard to call for donations without stating the case.
Until then I’ll hold my wallet, and if/when more comes out on this I’ll decide where I might throw a penny, either to Price or to the land council.
This is exactly the type of gracious and informative letter one would expect from Senator Price who represents her constituents. She is a credit to her people and Australian of the Year material.
I think all of us who support Senator Price should work to ensure that the CLC undergoes a full audit.
Sorry Jacinta. I lost my respect for you a year ago.
