DAYLESFORD district small farmer Tammi Jonas is a leading voice in food sovereignty and one of Australia’s pioneers in on-farm meat processing.
As multinational corporations like JBS and Cargill tighten their grip on the Australian meat industry, farmers like Tammi are fighting back — by building micro abattoirs that put power back in the hands of local farmers and communities.
And in a major breakthrough, Jonas won a significant victory in the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal over 12 months after it rejected the conditions the local council tried to impose on the mini-abbatoir.
The VCAT judge ruled the council could not impose conditions on the abattoir that would prevent the (freehold) property owners from carrying out normal farming practices i.e. an abattoir is intrinsic to agriculture.
Jonas talked about her plans with Tim Thompson who runs a highly commendable online video series called Farm Learning with Tim Thompson.
Jonas’ yet to be completed farm abattoir is licensed to process six cattle, or six pigs or 48 sheep a day and is basically the logical extension of her farm-based butchery which employs seven local people at the Central Victorian property with a living wage. Fifteen local farms are involved in the project.
Jonas used to take animals to the Kyneton abbatoir, only 45 minutes away, but they were shut out when Kilcoy Global Foods took it over last December and imposed limits on kill batches provided. They still take pigs to Laverton in Melbourne but that arrangement is uncertain.
As a PhD she is well aware of the bigger meat industry picture which is driving meat processing into the hands of the few multinational corporations, and says that between December 2024 and March 2025, stock producers lost access to six abattoirs in WA, NSW and Victoria.
Jonas says the vertically integrated abattoirs, processors and growers lock out farmers who in the past would have taken their animals to an abattoir for a service kill in order to control their own supply chain and sell their meat directly to people. However there is a pushback happening across the country with increasing numbers of farms selling meat direct via social media.
Having had a look at Tammi’s work-an incredible number if articles from a true intellect-and having also phoned her last night, the one problem Tammi has is that she is licensed, which is anathema to true sovereignty. Everyone has an unalienable right to grow food, and also to travel, which eliminates the need to have a license for either of them.
“Driver” and
operator” are commercial designations, and are not required, as one does not need a license to travel, a license being, by definition, a permit to do something illegal, as in “licentious” behaviour.
Tammi-and everyone else-has every right to operate in “the private” and would only need to put a notice in the public Notices that she was going to begin to trade in the private.
One then only has to tell the bogus “authorities” that one is happy to observe their health regulations, etc., as one sees fit (you’re not out to poison anyone anyway, are you?) along with the appropriate food handling qualifications, and so on.
The trouble with “licenses” being that what can be granted can be taken away.
Your unalienable rights cannot, unless you allow them to be.
One needs to be a “hero” in the correct technical manner then.

The United States has joined 12 other nations in signing a World Economic Forum (WEF) agreement that seeks to engineer global famine by destroying the agriculture industry.
According to the agreement, which was drawn up by the WEF and the United Nations (UN), food production is causing “global warming” and must be eliminated.
To “save the planet” from “climate change,” globalists insist, farms must be shut down across the world.
The WEF agreement sets targets for how much farmland each nation must eliminate in order to comply.
Under the guise of reducing “methane emissions,” thirteen nations have signed the pledge to engineer global famine by gutting agricultural production and shutting down farms.
Announced earlier this year by the WEF’s Global Methane Hub — a cabal of crisis engineers who exploit public panic to destroy the world food supply — those thirteen nations are:

I saw some meat farmers here advertising direct purchase, if you can get produce delivered direct why do you need Woolworths and the other places. Why would small towns need to die if they followed a new business model, as hubs for this type of distribution as well as venues for weekend markets. You just go out there in your car occasionally, check out the produce, have lattes and pumpkin scones, put in a few orders and go home again and for the rest of the season all your stuff is delivered. If you’re a farmer and your shire council can’t make it happen maybe you should sack them.
