The officer holds it, and it can be discussed with a scrutineer, but NEVER TOUCHED by them.
2. At the close of voting, it is a mad rush to do the House of Reps first…results have to be sent to Head Office by about 9pm.

At the last federal election, I made a mistake on my ballot paper so I went to get another and one of the female electoral officers told me it was ok to cross it out as long as it was initialed. I tore it up in front of her after asking her if she was kiddin’ me, threw it in the bin and walked out.
