“Australia’s culture is multiculturalism.” This was the answer my high school teacher gave when my class was discussing what Australian culture is back in late-1990s. Apparently, Germany, Lebanon, France, and every other country in history had a culture, but not Australia, which was merely a collection of co-existing cultures. At the time I believed my teacher – and he was a great teacher. I have since been told by countless people ranging from many of my fellow late-Gen Xers down to the Zoomers that they were told the same thing: “Australia’s culture is multiculturalism.”
This myth of multicultural essentialism must rank near the top of the list of the most pervasive and detrimental pieces of propaganda inflicted on Australians over the past thirty years. Not only is it false, but it has proven to be severely detrimental to the well-being of our nation.
Australia was not settled by a tossed salad of Italians, Greeks, Lebanese, Chinese, and a hundred other nationalities; it was not even settled by Australians. In 1788 Australia was settled by the British (including the Irish). In other words, Australia’s formative ideas, language, political institutions, expressions of Christianity, tastes in sport, economic system, literature, forms of entertainment, security alliances, and even sense of humour have been most powerfully shaped by Great Britain. This simple and obvious historical fact is the key to understanding who we are as a nation, even to this day.
As long as this truth is repressed, we will never know who we are; and if we do not know who we are, we will be powerless against false narratives about who we are. Indeed, the very point of telling Australians that our culture is multiculturalism is to weaken our sense of national identity in order for ideological movements such as multiculturalism, Aboriginal grievance, cultural Marxist wokeism, and Islamism to have an unopposed walkthrough in reshaping our laws, education system, and nation as a whole.
If the true answer to the question of who we are as a nation is banished from the public discussion, why should it be any wonder that Australians find it difficult to define themselves as a nation? It would be like trying to explain who you are to someone without being allowed to talk about your work, beliefs, interests, or family background. There’s not much left to say, not because there isn’t a truth to be said, but because the truth is the one thing that you cannot say.
The truth is that Australia is historically and still to a large degree a British nation, albeit one which has welcomed people in from cultures all around the world to enjoy the fruits of the British traits I listed above.
It is less cultural amnesia than it is a form of hypnotic memory erasure cast upon us by professional multicultural activists, the ABC, and educators over the past thirty years. In our school curricula, the British aspect of our identity has been consistently left out of accounts of who we are and replaced by a focus on Asia and Indigenous history. When the impact of Britain is mentioned, it is solely to highlight the sins of colonialism. In other words, Britishness equals bad, and who would want to be defined by the bad guys?
The most pernicious effect of the myth multicultural essentialism is an immigration system that has produced deeply divisive sub-communities and social trauma, every now and then exploding unto ugliness and violence – the 2005 Cronulla riots and their reprisal, and Islamist protests glorifying terrorism.
For decades no one has been able to say that our immigration policy should be guided by the need for immigrants to be able to conform to Australian identity, for apparently Australia has no identity other than multiculturalism. Thus, Australians have lacked the knowledge and vocabulary to say no to massive and rapid intakes of Muslim and Chinese migrants, for it’s impossible to argue that such irresponsible immigration will disrupt and threaten a pre-existing culture when we no longer are able to articulate what that pre-existing culture is.
In other words, when we wish to object to certain immigration schemes but lack the cultural-historical knowledge to articulate our concerns, our concerns are easily dismissed as simply racist and xenophobic. But they are not. And recent pro-terrorist, anti-Semitic protests should alert us to legitimacy of many Australians’ concerns with our immigration system.
Some have asked me why it’s even important to nurture the Britishness of our identity. The answer is simple. The positive and negative aspects of every society grow from deeper cultural roots. While Australia is not perfect, it is far more good than bad, as testified by the fact that people freely come from around the world to live here far more than vice versa. Australia’s political stability, social peace, and economic prosperity did not come from nowhere. They grew from deep roots in a British heritage that came to emphasise government by open reason, rule of law, economic efficiency, and Christian teachings.
These are the ideals that nourished our political, economic, legal, educational systems, and our daily interactions with fellow citizens. In other words, to ask why we should care about nurturing the Britishness of our culture is analogous to asking about why we should care about nourishing and maintaining the roots beneath the garden that sustains us.
Vague talk of Australian values does little to nothing to define who we are. At best it really just says we are not North Korea, Pakistan, or Saudi Arabia. Vague, abstract values are also easily manipulated to serve any ideological agenda. We must abandon the tedious, road-to-nowhere discussion of Australian values and lodge our identity in something more concrete and historical: our British heritage and its continued powerful effects.
This, to my mind, is the main reason Australians should wish to preserve our ties to the British monarchy now more than ever. Our membership in the Commonwealth is a spectacular declaration and reminder of who we are in a period in which our self-understanding has never been weaker and more under attack. Ours is a time when people wish to divide the country into racially-defined fragments, whether along lines of Indigeneity or lines of ethno-religion. The Voice referendum, the continued push for a treaty, the new (Islamic) Australian Voice party, unbridled, culturally-insensitive immigration, and the rising anti-Semitic and Islamic extremist movements are all threats to national solidarity and stability.
Once we recognise and understand our British heritage we can embark on a responsible immigration programme that ensures we do not nourish the growth of migrant communities that stand opposed to it. Australia’s immigration problem is not so much about individual immigrants, but the creation of immigrant communities so large, assertive, politically powerful, and insular that many within them fail to assimilate as well as they should. We can also make it very clear to migrants who we are and invite them to assimilate to a reasonable degree to that identity and to make their valuable contribution.
The question of who we are as a nation is becoming an existential issue for Australia, and the only answer that can be powerful enough to resist forces that would erode our national solidarity is the one grounded in our actual history and our present institutions. Australia is not essentially multicultural, it is essentially British, and if we wish to have a responsible immigration system and a cohesive society, this must not only be recognised, but unashamedly celebrated by all Australians, regardless of their cultural and racial background.

We behead newborn babies all across Australia, THOUSANDS of them, every single day, and they haven’t insulted ANYONE.
And then we chop them up into little itsy bitsy pieces and sell them off to all sorts of outfits here in Australia and around the world, without even a Get Well Soon card or any funeral or ANYTHING. They don’t even get a NAME, let alone any Last Rites.
And all that in hospitals and clinics manned by highly trained and VERY highly paid “healthcare professionals”, all with the latest gadgets and the SHARPEST scalpels, the PERFECT place to be doing some daily head-chopping. They’ll even chop YOU up and sell off all the bits if they catch you with a “Donor Card”, too, just like in the Monty Python sketch, and they won’t take no for an answer either, although they’ll make sure you stop squirming first, just to make the butchering process easier.
So why shouldn’t this character be waving around his adorable little head-chopping sign? God helps those who help themselves, after all. He’ll fit right into our genocidal Luciferian baby-eating Australian culture just fine. And millions more just like him, year after year, forever.
One possible solution to all this immigrant violence, such as the murder pf Sisto Malaspina, the cafe owner from Bourke St., melbourne, would be to hold those in the government who fostered this immigration to full commercialliabilty for these immigrant wrongdoings.
THEY in the governments let them in, and so should be held liable, personally and professionally, for the harm caused by these immigrant people.
Sisto’s murderer, like Man Haron Monis, of the Lindt Cafe siege, was on the terror watchlist, and should not have been on the streets, and so the government, state and federal, and the police, should be held to that liability and be forced to compensate affected victims-and in the millions of dollars.
And these parliamentarians, if forced to cough up themselves, would be out of house and home and with an empty bank account-so all it might need is one or two of them so affected and the rest might straighten up and start flying right.
The government and police mandate is to protect life and property, and are no doing that.
Same goes for the Courts, with magistrates and judges needing to be held liable for their decisions to send offenders back onto the streets.
And lastly, do not grant citizenship to any immigrant for a generation or few decades or so, so that we can see that they adopt our culture and behave themselves in accordance to OUR LAW and CULTURE.
The bloke holding the sign doesn’t appreciate how lucky he is to be in a Country that doesn’t behead him for holding up that sign! I think he should be sent back to where he came from, made to hold up the same sign, but change the ‘word’ to ‘christians’.
I am not racist, but our white Australia policy worked. Encouraging immigrants who would benefit our country worked. Welcoming migrants who integrate worked. The culture of these people has help to shape Australia.
The world has become too small and so many countries have lost, or are losing their identity because of this policy of allowing “all-comers” in! With Government’s now, it’s about money, power and big-noting themselves on the “world stage”. NOT about the welfare of their own country and people. Poking their noses into other nations businesses, aiding wars that have NOTHING to do with us.

as an australian born first generation wog, my understanding is that when the term “multiculturalism” was first adopted it was referring to the enrichment of existing culture through the blending of beneficial components of other cultures and post ww2 immigration policies delivered exactly this.

We will be celebrating Australia Day as I have for the last 15 years in Europe, UK and Lithuania. With a BBQ even though it was winter and with the large Australian Flag draped across our balcony in all places and on the back of our temporary car here, I have my Army Slouch hat from 1994 plus a mini Australian flag. Plus my personally flown in cabin on a private jet French Bulldog will be wearing an Australian Flag on Sunday, when it is still bearable temperature wise 27c. Monday will be too hot for him.

For that matter, I wonder how many know a certain Queensland politician often referred to as racist was given that title by John Howard for daring to suggest “perhaps the White Australia was a good idea”. I’m not sure if that was before or after Howard had that very politician’s office raided in search of a crime. The said politician popularity was increasing dramatically at the time so Howard dealt with the matter in his usual way.
PS, I lived and worked in Cambridgeshire from 2010 to 2018 via my Lithuanian Passport (European Union). My Aussie citizenship meant nothing in the UK other than 6 months residency without any rights. I loved living in the UK, I actually campaigned for Brexit for Nigel Farage, who I met at the EU parliament in Strasbourg as a guest of Tony Guoga who himself is an Aussie Lithuanian and was a member of the EU parliament. I was born in Melbourne in 1973, my grandparents from both sides arrived from Lithuania (via Germany care of the temporary Vatican passports) in 1949. Both grandfathers had to work for 2 years for the Government, 1 in the canefields of Far North Queensland, the other a qualified Doctor from the Munich University, luckily as an x-ray lab technician. The one in the canefields was a qualified engineer, the other a qualified Doctor of medicine. When I grew up in Templestowe in Melbourne, I was taught Lithuanian only until Kindergarten, where i didn’t know English amongst the Greek and Italian and Macedonian and Cypriot kids amongst me. At prep, I didn’t know English. I’m dinky die Australian, I served in the Australian Army amongst other men like me of different Eastern European backgrounds who had similar upbringings including Anglo Australian guys. My brother and I were discriminated at cricket at our school by being put 10th and 11th to bat. We used to wag the tale really good, many times getting around a 50 run tale. We both used to bowl well, only getting about 2 overs each and getting a couple of wickets. They called us Wogs. In Aussie rules we got better treatment at Bulleen-Templestowe Football Club, but always in the backline in the back pocket or whatever. I understand the Aussie Anglo Saxon hatred of anything other than English/Irish background. But I love Australia. I served her Majesty the Queen and Australia. I have lived in Europe for the last 15 years, coz I got sick of Australia. I have returned and find Melbourne has changed dramatically. My wife is from Lithuania and says it is great other than all the Chingas and Indis. We have a code for them that we use when talking. Lithuania is 90% white European with the same tollerance as the English/Irish/Scottish/Welsh. What I find is that all European background people are accepting of each other now more than ever. WOGS/AUSSIES are all the same now. The Vietnamese are part of us. I guess I cannot even say anything bad against the Afghanis who are here and I work with on a daily basis. But we are all Australian and there should be no more bias in sport or otherwise.

Talking about history…We had an Exhibition in Melbourne in 1854. Something like 300,000 visitors attended I remember reading.

Seems to me we should completely dismantle and eliminate the latter existential threat first, before we think about picking up the pieces and trying to repair whatever is left.
