THOUSANDS of Britons, mostly the same people who support Tommy Robinson and oppose Keir Starmer’s authoritarian Labor regime, have come out on the streets of London to celebrate Donald Trump’s win of the 47th presidency of the United States.
The crowd chanted “We love Trump” in front of the Parliament buildings while a man on loudspeaker declared “just know that the Great Deplorables of the United Kingdom love Donald Trump”. During the night as Americans voted, fireworks were let off in Trafalgar Square when Trump’s win became apparent.
A gleeful video by social media commentator Katie Hopkins, celebrating the win, was repeatedly posted on X. She said it was the best day ever and the BBC were “in absolute ruins” and unable to announce the Trump victory at 7am, saying Kamala still had “a narrow margin of a route to victory”.
Hopkins also noted that Starmer had actively sent Labor Party activists to the US to work for Harris “and we have a Foreign Secretary who called the new President of the United States of America some of the worst names under the sun, so we can look forward to Trump punishing both of them very hard in the near future.”
Starmer recently pledged to keep the Foreign Secretary David Lammy for at least the next five years despite Lammy calling Trump a “neo-Nazi sympathizer” and “tyrant in a toupe”. Starmer himself was quick to send Trump a grovelling congratulatory letter.
Meanwhile the Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán led the celebrations among Europe’s rising populist movements, saying he would be popping champagne corks. He posted on X: “The biggest comeback in US political history! Congratulations to President @realDonaldTrump on his enormous win. A much needed victory for the World!”
Andras Laszlo, a Member of the European Parliament and the Patriots for Europe group posted: “There is only one candidate that risked it all for America: his reputation, his wealth, his life! There is only one candidate who Americans can count on to make America great again! Let’s go, America!”
NBC reported that “most world leaders were always going to congratulate Donald Trump on his presidential win, as they did early Wednesday before he was even officially declared the victor.”
The Harris-supporting media outlet went on: “Some – like right-wingers and populists in Israel, India, the Gulf and Europe – were gleeful. Many of America’s traditional allies, meanwhile, hinted at their unease but also a pragmatic determination to make the best of their new reality: four more years of a man who has undermined Washington’s friends and boosted its autocratic foes, attempted to overturn the 2020 election and denied basic climate science.
“Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said it was “history’s greatest comeback!” while his ultranationalist National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir posted “Yesssss” followed by the American and Israeli flags and a strong-arm emoji,” said NBC. They also noted that India’s populist Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave his “heartiest congratulations my friend.”
How the anti-war Trump handles his warmonger friend Netanyahu will be interesting to see, as will his handling of Zelensky and the Ukraine war which he has pledged to end. Trump is a deal-maker and is not stuck in the Orwellian East vs West mindset of most western leaders.
