UAP, KAP and PHON should form a coalition instead of combining as one brand because that would be like putting beetroot, sliced peaches and sardines all mixed in one can. They can identify areas of strength and stay out of each other’s areas and they should be thinking about this right now. They should stick with their successful brands but let it be well known they will be working nationally coordinated as a coalition for state and federal elections. Looking at some lower house seats for example PHON should get WA because Mark McGulag white-anted Clive Palmer quite badly and Katter did not make any impact there. UAP should get the capital cities excl Perth and Katter should get the rural areas.
They will have to work out how to carve up SEQ by themselves. The reason is because lower house seats are effectively first past the post – only the preferences for the TWO LEADING CANDIDATES are counted. This can’t be stressed strongly enough because people don’t understand the system, with “you must number the boxes 1-8”. This is wrong and you should be able to mark as many as you like then put an X over the rest.
