Queensland primary producer organisation Agforce is taking on Swiss mining giant Glencore and Qld Labor over destruction of the world’s biggest underground reservoir of fresh water and not a peep from the Greens
This all encompassing interview with VOF’s Carl Liebold and CEO of Agforce Mike Guerin is as good as we have ever posted regarding the ongoing decimation of agriculture.
Agforce warns it is only a matter of weeks before Federal Environment Minister Tania Plibersek gives the final approval for Swiss miner Glencore to pollute four state’s lifeblood water with 330,000 tonnes of coal mine waste.
Mike gets right into the guts of just about every aspect of food production that is being systematically destroyed by the unholy alliance of Labor, Greens, Teals, Animals Australia, WWF, WEF and many of the other usual suspects.
The Agforce CEO tells it just how it is and does not paint a nice picture for the future of farming. Reckless Renewables, massive intrusions of power lines and solar panels taking up millions of acres of viable farm land, loss of inter-generational farmers, and the Woolworths and Coles monopoly which has left Australia as a net importer of food, particularly seafood.
Mike Guerin points out that once upon a time Australia produced sufficient quantities of food for domestic production, leaving a large surplus for export earnings.
Now he says, due to the massive overlay of environmental and other governmental imposts over the entire agricultural industry Australian producers can no longer produce cheap and abundant food.
He gave the example of the dairy industry which was all but destroyed when the Federal Agriculture Minister Warren Truss deregulated it in 2000. Now Queensland suffers from an acute shortage of locally produced milk and milk powder and farmers are unable to make sufficient profit to carry on.
Mike tells how the destruction of Queensland’s once world-acclaimed agricultural training organisations at Longreach and Emerald have been disbanded, sold and had their multi-million dollar assets liquidated and pumped into Labor’s slush fund for inefficient and expensive renewables.
He is worried there will be no starters for farm successions as the last generation of farm kids will be financially unable to carry on with the family farm or limited-life renewables will have displaced farm land reducing available areas thus making food production economically unsustainable.
In effect Australia is already suffering from a brain-drain of experienced farmers as their average age has risen to 63 as of 2023. The junior farmers have already disappeared.
Agforce says it will take the GAB destruction by a foreign mining company to the Federal Court as a last resort however it could cost up to a million dollars to save this reservoir, estimated at 130,000 times the size of Sydney Harbour.

I would have thought that part of the application by Glencore to participate in their mining venture they would have had to inform how they intended to get rid of their waste products. If they did, why has Government waited until the last minute to allow the public to know the outcome?
