The truly greedy grocery gangsters take full advantage of the truly needy customer. All Australians need to watch this video then shift your grocery shopping away from the supermarket cartel.
Woolworths and to a lesser extent Coles, have sent many farmers broke over the years and the cartel should be broken up. There now seems to be broad-based political support to remove the monopoly thus reducing prices and ensuring farmers can stay in business.
Senior independent federal parliamentarian Bob Katter has long fought against the duopoly’s unscrupulous dealing with farmers and their excessive mark-ups for fruit and vegetables featured in the ABC expose.
Katter has long been critical of LibLab’s unwavering support for the Woolies Coles oligopoly but he believes the cracks in this support are widening. Queensland and federal Labor have begun inquiries into the supermarket chains.
Woolworths is a known predator of family businesses having sent many to the wall with their unscrupulous trading practices. Price cutting for select lines particularly fruit and vegetables at below opposition prices in shopping malls and keeping their prices well below cost eventually forcing the family-owned businesses in shopping centres out of business.
This predatory behaviour has been reported to ACCC for years yet no action is ever taken. While the grocery monopoly is being taken apart the ACCC should be replaced with an agency that has scruples.

Cooee Anzac, interesting video. Hard to believe that was done 13 yrs ago. An up to date one would be good to see.
Yes thanks Joe, I’ve already done that and have saved where everyone is in SE Qld!
Nothing worth while is close enough to this heavily populated spot I’m in.
Look up farmer’s markets, there are more than you think, they are usually only one or two mornings per week, if you don’t have one ask the local council why not
I understand and agree but what to do when there’s really no alternative? They have the monolopy of the ‘Westfield’ centre where I am. A really good fruit and vege market finally sold a few years ago and the new owner tried to run it on a very much lower budget and failed. I can get quality organic carrots and apples at W’worths but most other ‘healthy’ lines I buy from Coles. I wish I didn’t have to and also that I knew where to move to that is a good local fresh food growing and market location.
Haven’t seen this yet – am downloading to watch tonight. I rarely buy at Coles or Woolies (Woolies are my local about an 85km round trip with Coles about 260kms). They don’t sell FOOD. Just a plethora of chemicals, additives and colorants etc. NOT for my body. About a fortnight ago I did buy some carrots at Woolies as mine are growing. Within 4 days, I have a mouldy one and the rest have gone soft and only fit for the horses. So many times I have walked into that “shop” and walked out as emptied-handed as I walked in!
I buy Australian Wheat flour, non bleached, no additives $15 for 10 Kg bag. That’s 4+ times cheaper than bread in the supermarket. Sold at Middle Eastern shops. Just add salt and water. Make flat bread like the Palestinians do. Higher in protein; You can just about live on this “Man shall not live on bread alone”(Matthew 4:4)
Screw both Woolworths AND Coles. They now have their customers working as their UNPAID checkout operators.
Meanwhile, they’ve hiked up their prices for the privilege and facially identify every customer while recording every purchase they make.
Talk about profiling and tracking people and their habits!!! Like Google on the internet.
Soon enough we’ll be living our lives in someone’s fishbowl.
Resist, Aussies! Resist being someone’s goldfish!
Of course they’re in collusion, folks.
Aside from ALL THE REST of their racketeering malfeasance, take note of their “specials” collaborations.
Coles and Woolworths ALTERNATE the “specials” on selected items, like a game of ping-pong, by PRECISELY THE SAME AMOUNTS, but on ALTERNATING FORTNIGHTS. Coles will have “specials” on specific items for a fortnight, and when they stop, then Woolworths has the SAME “specials” on the SAME items for the NEXT fortnight.
They CLEARLY play the game to SHARE the herding of the sheep BETWEEN them.
This isn’t a “free market”, folks. We’re being SCREWED to the maximum extent that these bastards think they can get away with.
And just BTW, they’re BOTH already geared up to bring in the WEF’s GREAT RESET as soon as Klaus and Smeagol give the nod.
As the German elections are gaining pace, a large supermarket chain owner from Dresden thought it was a good idea to express his inner self-delusions of being ‘holier than thou,’ so decided ‘to do the right thing’ and launch a political advertisement campaign against the AFD, thinking it would give him some Brownie points with ‘the people!’
Unfortunately, the little Kraut Cockwomble doesn’t appear to have spoken to his customers since Pink Floyd’s Berlin Wall concert in 1990, so much to his horror, Herr Simmel has recently discovered, that around 40% of the local population said they will now boycott his Simmel Supermarket chain. A classic case of not knowing your customers.
His Supermarket advertisements said, – ‘For democracy against Nazis,’ – but since the 40% drop in customers and profits, the grovelling self-righteous little shrimp-dick has now retracted his advertisement and apologised by now stating, – ‘I’m sorry that my use of the term ‘’Nazis’’ was aimed at people who don’t agree with our current government, . . . that does not make you a Nazi.’
Oh Herr Simmel, – you don’t say?, – but what he really meant, was that he was ‘truly truly sorry,’ that he is so very close to destroying his life’s work through publicly expressing his inner Bekloppte!
In response, many campaigners gathered at Simmel Supermarkets, filled their trollies with groceries then left them at the tills with protest leaflets against the exclusion of different political views. The unhappy shop workers said they would express their anger to the top, so both supermarket staff and owner have now got the message.
Hitting these money-orientated jerks in the income department is where it hurts, as Simmel now knows, as I know, that not only has he just lost 40% of his company income, but at the same time, – his competitors have just gained his lost market share and accompanying profits. With absolute public solidarity and unified intent, these traitors can be targeted and destroyed overnight and their business loss returned to small local traders.
This recent German example, shows the power which the people wield, when their minds are united in solidarity and recognise their enemy in its various forms of expression.
Hopefully, the 40% of boycotting customers will shop with outlets who support their own people, stick with those who have now gained his lost market share, and let the traitor go to the dogs, because if he financially supports charities or whatever, as most do, we now know that he is financing the enemy of his customers with the money of his customers: – ‘permanent boycott’ is the only reasonable punishment.
If Coles and Woolworths had not both at about the same time gone to electronic self serve machines, maybe price increases would not be necessary. In the same vein buying out other businesses would not help profits.
At the same time Coles has installed more surveillance supposedly because of more shoplifting. However have you ever noticed when going via a counter chick, how many times she has to swipe the article before it registers. Is this the cause of the supposed extra shoplifting because the scanners are not working correctly when shoppers do their own scanning?
In my area Woolworths have recently bought out a tavern and bottle shop which also has a TAB license. They are now erecting a large building on the property to house Dan Murphy. This is at the expense of their customers across the road. Somebody has to pay and we don’t expect the international shareholders to cough up, so in reality shouldn’t the shoppers be considered shareholders of this new venture.
“Elbow brought it into the debate by saying Australia was not the Soviet Union”
And he’s quite correct. The Soviet Union was quite devoid of the Blackrocks, the Vanguards and the Wall Street money corporations and bankers running the economy and having the state politicians in their pockets.
Looking at it another way, the Soviet Union never sold off state assets to private capital holders as the LNP-Labour/Greens have been gradually doing in Australia.
In the Soviet communist system the State acquired power over the capital holders, the capital holders didn’t acquire power over the State as is the case in Australia.
It’s not a matter of definition but of observation and fact.
re Commenter dd2 on communism
Elbow brought it into the debate by saying Australia was not the Soviet Union, his implied denial was clear to see. As for precise definitions, everything is mixed and nothing is pure, your example of the 3rd reich is a case in point where the socialists, once successful, became infiltrated by fascists. In the case of the 3rd reich I have been known to call it communo-fascist and other bloggsters have disputed that. But Elbow’s big government and his predecessors too, are too big to justify themselves, and too bloody minded and ruthless, to be called “normal”.
Woolworths and Coles are good examples of communo-fascist enterprises. Farmers should take their produce to the streets like they still do in Asia, where a pickup truck full of watermelons or other fruit will appear on the main street about 6pm and sell all the surplus produce cheap. Other times they have mobile fruit and veg vendors going all over the place. This type of thing used to work in Australia about 100 years ago, but I can just hear the load whine nowadays, “it wouldn’t work”. Of course the vicious fully owned local councils would do their best to make sure it didn’t work, and keep receiving their kickbacks from the aircon mall operators, with their “hygienic” communo-fascist home delivery schemes.
What the bigger concern is shills controlled opposition and censorship on free speech.
Same old people with big noses behind every counter wollies and coles have always been criminal enterprises ..https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f8TUKDO4qsw “The Hungary Beast”
The big con with Woolies is their claim that they are ‘The Fresh Food People’. In reality, the food to which they are referring WAS FRESH when it left the farm gate of the rorted supplier, but after it has spent time under transport, then been in and out of the supermarket coolroom and controlled atmosphere facilities, then sprayed with water to make it look fresh up to the best before date then any pretense at freshness is false advertising and propaganda.
We may have seen the CEO resign under pressure but to see who is pulling the strings on our duopoly Supermarkets all we have to look at are the 3 or 4 major shareholders in these 2 companies.
Australiansuper Pty Ltd
BlackRock Group
The Vanguard Group,Inc
State Street Corporation and subsidiaries
From this group two are creating most of the chaos in the world, Larry Fink’s Blackrock and Vangard. As asset managers with Trillions of dollars in their managed funds they pull the levers. Blackrock alone if it was a country is the third largest in GDP behind the US and China but because of their web of infestation in every region in the world one would have to say they are the controlling party.
The sooner Nations and governments understand the influencing and destructive powers of these corporations and how they siphon and milk National wealth creating a broader socio-economic class of citizens living below the poverty line, the sooner we can take back our Sovereignty.
The ACCC role is what?
To monitor the MONOPOLY of Coles and Woolworths supermarkets over our food supply?
To monitor the MONOPOLY of Coles and Woolworths petrol stations over our fuel supplies?
To monitor the MONOPOLY of Coles and Woolworths purchasing power against the little guys?
“a syndicated effort, to try to tame all the commentary about Elbow’s party the decrepit and rancid ALP, being communist. ”
And tamed the “communist” commentary should be!
Ask the Mussolinis, the Hitlers and the Francos how the difference between communist totalitarianism and fascist authoritarianism works.
The ALP is in fact SOCIALIST at its core, and that puts it much closer to FASCISM than communism. It was the socialists who carried the swastika, the ancient symbol of prosperity which later became the modern symbol of fascism.
Just sayin so peoples don’t get confused about wot’s wat.
If the stock market was entirely owned by BlackRock and they bought all the other shares at $X and sold them at $Y at a markup they pre-determined at BlackRock HQ, would that be called a stock market, no !!! It would be called a capital raising fund or something like that.
So why is a super grocery conglomerate allowed to call itself a super market, when it’s not a market at all, it just looks like one !!! Sort of anyway, like Joe Biden’s coherent doubles look like Joe Biden. Sort of.
OK I confess to watching the 4 corners show the other day and I thought it was a piece of crap but for Normie out there it may have been a revelation, who knows.
Off the back of the communist Elbow government’s ABC-TV came a bit of supermarket bashing from Elbow himself who could well use a diversion, he said “We’re not the Soviet Union”, whatever that was supposed to convey what it means is he wants us to think he is not a communist and Russia is bad.. It’s two-pronged or more likely three-pronged if anyone can deduce the original intended meaning. I can’t even be bothered to think about it. Given the timing of Elbow’s outburst I am wondering if the entire supermarket spectacle from start to whimpering finish was a syndicated effort, to try to tame all the commentary about Elbow’s party the decrepit and rancid ALP, being communist. How else is he going to work it in.
He really loves those speechwriters, he is like a dog that’s just had a tin of food opened in front of him.
Every time the price of soft drinks go up at Woolies or Coles, you can bet the other has risen theirs, to exactly the same price, on the very same day. It is just a coincidence, I am sure…just because it happens every time for years doesn’t mean anything right?
Something that 4 Corners did not include in the expose of the prices that the super markets charge is the cost of diesel for the farmer and the transport company who carts their produce to market .
Many transport companies have had to cease operations and sell their trucks and trailers because they can’t afford to operate all thanks to the Federal government who gouge the most out of everyone .
Great news! I understand that the laws in the US do not allow such big companies is that right?
Yes, I watched it the other night and have not shopped at either since then. There are plenty of other places to shop.
What about IGA,They are the Biggest Rip Off C###Ts Going, No competition in Rural areas, Why arn’t they been investigated. You can buy a Whole Rump for 10 Bucks a Kg and then they Slice it and sell it for 28 bucks a Kg and this is only one Example
