Construction Costs Please.
Through your paper we would like to ask The Hon Chris Bowen MP Minister for Climate Change and Energy to detail in full the entire cost of construction of: –
A 2 MW wind turbine and a 2 MW solar farm.
Starting with clearing the land, and including the cost of extraction of all the minerals/metals/oil/ gas and diesel— in dollars, man hours and carbon footprint.
We, and many other Australians, would appreciate it if you would follow up this request and publish his reply. Many students will be waiting for his detailed reply.

I can assure you not many people take the time they rather look at pictures, so they don’t have to understand what’s being explained and very importantly what’s not being written down.
Often what is not explained that’s sometimes more important.
Yes in many essays the elephant in the room is often NOT mentioned, because that might implicate the writer.
Naming entities are not mentioned otherwise the contents might never be printed. This gets me to various writers and commenters at Cairns News that have disappeared for whatever reason. This is a pity…!

This is one of those elephants in the room that no-one can see.
Aside from inflating your power bill, that harmonic distortion will wreak havoc on much of the modern electronics built into home appliances – causing malfunctions, shortening service life and even frying gear in extreme cases.
It’s something I’ve encountered with the domestic solar power installations. The customer has no clue that – although nominal measurements show in-spec 240v RMS @ 50Hz on the mains, some inverters are feeding switching noise over 100v peak to peak superimposed on the mains voltage into their household. And (of course) their appliances start failing on them way sooner than they expected, with the cutomer none the wiser.
Unless you have suitable test equipment to monitor the power supply yourself, you’ll never know.
These issues aren’t being caught by the alleged regulatory authorities here in Australia. I wonder why? I wonder, I wonder, I wonder…
Isn’t about time someone took these political freaks and fools to task for the monstrous mistakes they make ? Why cost up a wind turbine when they do produce the essential and legally required 50 hertz energy.
The question that should be put is.
Can you determine the output of a wind turbine?
Can you determine whether the output is 50 hertz or other harmonics?
I have a friend with a power quality analyser meter which shows up to 90% total harmonic distortion and all added on to his power bill. Tests and calculations indicate at 90% he is paying 45% to much.

To Dandy above, I agree with what you say here. I believe that large dumps for dead solar panels already exist and one for dead windmills. No thought seems to have been given to it prior just like with plastic. It’s the next environmental disaster for the next generation to fix – if indeed there is a next generation.

Solar panels only have a short life of 25-30 years.

Dear Editor Further on this subject. Oberon is a small country town on the Great Dividing Range, not far from Bathurst. It services a large area of state forests and rural properties engaged in beef and sheep farming. The forests are also home to much bird life, including the majestic black cockatoos, and to wild animals like wombats. kangaroos, wallabies, echidnas and possums as well as feral deer, fox, rabbits and pigs. Yesterday, the attached flyer was in my mail box. These abominations planned for installation in state forests will be enormous – far larger than the average type or in waste of land and money – they will be a blot on the Range that cannot be avoided or hidden. Oberon Council is not known for eco-friendly living; they were foiled in a recent attempt to put fluoride into the water supply.
