Comments from Bob Katter following Electrolux’s decision to close its Orange factory which produces Electrolux, Westinghouse and Kelvinator refrigerators:
“Our thoughts go out to the workers and their families who will be affected by this decision.
“One of Australia’s biggest white goods manufacturers will be closing for good; which leaves little hope for our country.
“Today, the manufacturing industry has been dealt another mortal blow with another 500 Australian workers losing their jobs.
“The ALP-LNP ‘corporation’ that runs this country, does not seem to care that we will not have any manufacturing industry left.
“Right now, we are looking down the barrel of no steel manufacturing, no motor vehicle production, no tyre production, no white goods production, and no oil production.
“We will be a Third World country industrially and technologically.”
