VARIOUS western and Middle Eastern sources believe Israel and the Washington establishment are behind the coup that has toppled the Syrian government of President Bashar al-Assad, leaving some 200,000 Syrian Christians at the mercy of a new “Islamist” regime.
However western media, including Al Jazeerah, are claiming it’s another dictatorship akin to Saddam Hussein’s former Iraqi regime being overthrown “for the cause of democracy”. An Al Jazeerah reporter at the border was surrounded by apparently happy Syrian men claiming “we are not terrorists”.
The narrative of western media is that Assad ran a “brutal dictatorship” for the past 50 years. But Assad has been repeatedly attacked by Israel and US-backed rebels since the so-called Arab Spring and the civil war that broke out in 2011. Russia will now lose its only Mediterranean naval base for its Black Sea Fleet in the Syrian port city of Tartus.
Syria has been in a state of civil war since 2011, but long before that, in the wake of the September 11, 2001 attacks, it was one of the seven countries that US General Wesley Clark said the US neoconservatives had targeted for overthrow in a five-year plan. The other countries were Iraq, Lebanon, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, and Iran.
UK journalist and historian Craig Murray says the “Syrian rebels” are “a creation of the US – funded, armed, and supported to destabilise Damascus and disrupt regional stability. This isn’t a revolution; it’s foreign interference,” he said.
HTS, or Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, which officially took over Syria over the weekend after Assad’s troops surrendered, is being described as “Islamist”. According to Middle East commentator Dr Richard Malouf, HTS announced Sharia law would soon be implemented.
“Christian families have also been told that they might search their homes in the next days. Syria will become Afghanistan 2.0,” he said. HTS is listed by the UN as a terrorist organisation.
Who this new Islamist regime is aligned with soon became clear. A video posted by a former UN staffer Aviva Klompas showed a representative of the “rebels” appearing on an Israeli TV channel begging for peace with Israel.
“Dear neighbors from the State of Israel…I’m speaking on my behalf and for all the free people of Syria. The next phase will be a phase of harmony and of peace with the state of Israel,” the Syrian rebel told Israel’s Channel 11 news station.
Sure they’ll have peace with Israel, as long as Israel has military and economic control of the country – so it in effect becomes part of “Greater Israel”. Let’s see how that works for “Syrian freedom and democracy”. Let’s also see how this new Syrian regime handles the Christian minority of Syria, who were previously supported by Assad.

The mists of time conceal many truths and one of them is the history of Khazaria, an empire that flourished from the 7th to the 10th century. An area known today as the southeastern section of modern Russia, southern Ukraine, Crimea, and Kazakhstan.

In 1943 he published his book Khazaria: History of a Jewish Kingdom in Europe. In his book, Polak asserted that the Khazars were the demographic foundation of the Jews who inhabited Eastern Europe in the late Middle Ages and who later evolved into the Ashkenazi Jewry.

Assad had been negotiating with the rebel opposition crew (not the foreign backed terrorists) for a number of days. His agreement to step down apparently took the Russians by surprise.
Nevertheless, they’ve provided Assad with asylum because it is obviously in their interests to do so.
It remains to be seen what the Opposition which will form a new government will do next. Will it be patriotic enuff to seek to unify the country and attempt to restore its sovereignty and independence or will it turn Syria over to the foreign backed terrorist brigades and their sponsors as a Ukrainian style beachhead?

I am not sure that Hayat Tahrir al-Sham is backed by the CIA. The SDF ethnic militias are certainly backed by the US. And it is certain that somebody backed the HTS ‘lightening offensive’ out of Idlib Province. They were right up there in N. Syria with the Turkish aligned Syrian rebel forces in Afrin. My guess is these two joined forces.
The Western media is insisting on translating al-Sham as Syria (like the modern boundaries of the Syrian state).
But it would be better translated / Englished as Bilad al-Sham which was the province of at least four Caliphates since the 7th century and included: Hatay province in Turkey, Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Palestine, Israel and Cyprus. This region is the Eastern Diocese of Nova Roma Christian Empire which arose in the footprint of ancient, pagan Rome at its furthest extent in the early 4th century AD after it was torn apart in the civil wars of the Tetrarchy. The Golan Heights was partly occupied by Israel in 1967, with a buffer zone separating territory they control and territory still held by Syria created in 1974.
Following the ousting of Bashar al-Assad on Sunday, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu said the end of his rule meant that the 50-year-old ‘disengagement agreement’ between the two countries had collapsed and ‘Syrian forces have abandoned their positions’.
‘I directed the Israeli military yesterday to seize the buffer zone and the commanding positions nearby. We will not allow any hostile force to establish itself on our border,’ he said.
He made the announcement during a visit to the Golan Heights, which is recognised by the vast majority of the world as occupied, with the notable exception of the US. …………………”
