A powerful Senate Inquiry established into the Defence medals system has opened for submissions.
The inquiry initiated by a Senator Roberts motion will investigate potentially illegal medals awarded to senior Defence officers, the experiences of ADF personnel and potential improvements to the Defence Awards and Honours system.
Senator Roberts stressed that witnesses are protected in giving their evidence even though some Defence Personnel fear reprisals. Anyone coercing, interfering with or punishing a person for giving evidence to the committee could be held in contempt of the Senate. Submissions to the committee can be made confidentially for those wishing not to be identified.

Our only hope is to forget relying on fantasists and establish an Australian citizens defence force to protect Australian citizens in case of any threat to the nation, internal or external. .

The whole ‘medal game’ is a disgrace to the military. When I was in the US Army if you saw an enlisted man with a Silver Star, you knew he earned it. If you saw an officer with one, it was questionable.
We had a Captain whose father was a General in the Army put himself in for a Silver Star and two Distinguished Flying Crosses. He knew no one would knock back the medals because of his father. He had only flown about 6 months of limited combat, he had no significant combat experience.
I remember walking into the CO’s office and there were six officers arguing who should get one of the ‘Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry’ medals that the Vietnamese government had authorized for the unit. I spoke up and said. “Give them to the Observers, they are the ones hanging out the door and trading rounds” (being an Observer in a Scout aircraft was extremely dangerous). The Officers looked at me, ignored the suggestion and then went back to dividing up the medals amongst themselves.
After my experiences, I have a quiet laugh when I see some brass with a chest full of ‘fruit cocktail’.
The farce detracts from the deeds of those who rightfully earned them, not to mention all the ‘lesser’ grunts who should have been recognized.
Australia would be better off if it had a proper self-defence mentality a la Switzerland but instead our defence insurance policy involves running off to every overseas event the British need a few expendables for. I include Iraq since that was triggered by Bliar’s “Dodgy Dossier”, and extending from that the entire 7 wars in 5 years catalog + Greater Zion. Bliar is now an Order of the Garter, that’s the medal that really counts. Thank you Sir Tony for your role in the acquisitions of Greater Zion.
This has to include every senior officer who held the same position before Angus and got the same or similar medal.
I suppose we should give credit to Senator Roberts for ATTEMPTING to serve Australian interests, from within the belly of the beast, namely the emphatically ANTI-AUSTRALIAN FOREIGN OWNED COMMONWEALTH OF AUSTRALIA CORPORATION.
Just a little bit like a Coles or Woolworths supermarket employee trying to change their ruthlessly predatory and unconscionably greedy corporate policies toward Australian farmers and shoppers.

Whistleblower protection laws didn’t seem to make a single SHRED of difference for former army lawyer and whistleblower David McBride, and isn’t THIS “powerful senate inquiry” ALSO involving the very same corrupt-to-the-core sold-out foreign-owned Australian army?
