I find it hard to disagree with Missy.
I could agree with you if the 1946 referendum question stated, civil conscription of medical and dental practitioners, and was a question to be answered by medical and dental practitioners only, but the question was directed at the people for affirmation or refutation.
In saying that, I doubt the question could be argued not to mean, both individuals being forced into accepting a compulsory medical or dental service of Australian governments against their will, or medical and dental practitioners being forced to work for Australian governments against their individual wills.
It would be interesting to see what was written in newspapers and letters to the editors, leading up to the referendum to determine the question’s true meaning, as it is impossible to trust the words of politicians and their lackeys.
I wish Miss Congealed Reality was right in saying that Section 51 (xxiiiA) of the Constitution states categorically that ‘parliament can make no law that conscripts Australians into any ‘ “medical or dental treatment” ‘.
Unfortunately I have to concur with the auspublaw.org/blog folk and conclude that these strange words in parentheses at the end of the clause ‘Parliament shall, subject to this Constitution, have power to make laws for … the provision of medical and dental services (but not so as to authorize any form of civil conscription)’ were designed to allay the fears of medical practitioners that they might be conscripted into working for some sort of National Health Service. Those words in parentheses were inserted in 1946, just as the UK was
creating the original NHS. I have got quite a strong legal background – but I would be delighted if I were to be proved wrong and Miss CR vindicated !

When/if the sheeple wake the hell up, they will need to take a lot of the blame for the mess we are in.

New Zealand is a strikingly beautiful place, as I discovered during a six week backpacking trip in 1976. From the tip of North Island to the tip of South Island, the people, land and government were second to none.
