LONDON (Reuters) -The World Health Organization does not believe the monkeypox outbreak outside Africa will lead to a pandemic, an official said on Monday, adding it remains unclear if infected people who are not displaying symptoms can transmit the disease.
More than 300 suspected and confirmed cases of monkeypox – a usually mild illness that spreads through close contact and can cause flu-like symptoms and pus-filled skin lesions – have been reported in May, mostly in Europe.
The WHO is considering whether the outbreak should be assessed as a “potential public health emergency of international concern” or PHEIC. Such a declaration, as was done for COVID-19 and Ebola, would help accelerate research and funding to contain the disease.
Asked whether this monkeypox outbreak has the potential to grow into a pandemic, Rosamund Lewis, technical lead for monkeypox from the WHO Health Emergencies Programme said: “We don’t know but we don’t think so.”
“At the moment, we are not concerned of a global pandemic,” she said.
Once monkeypox has been contracted, the duration of the rash emerging and scabs falling off is recognised as the infectious period, but there is limited information on whether there is any spread of the virus by people who are not symptomatic, she added.
“We really don’t actually yet know whether there’s asymptomatic transmission of monkeypox – the indications in the past have been that this is not a major feature – but this remains to be determined, she said.
The strain of virus implicated in the outbreak is understood to kill a small fraction of those infected, but no deaths have been reported so far.
Most cases have cropped up in Europe rather than in the Central and West African countries where the virus is endemic, and are predominantly not linked to travel.
Scientists are therefore looking into what might explain this unusual surge of cases, while public health authorities suspect there is some degree of community transmission.
Some countries have begun to offer vaccines to close contacts of confirmed cases.

The history of smallpox and the first vaccine has been extensively researched then recorded in the (2015) book:
‘Dissolving illusions, Diseases, Vaccines and the Forgotten History’ by Suzanne Humphries MD and Roman Bystrianyk.
This book gives the context around Edward Jenner’s experiments with inoculation for smallpox which were challenged by many Doctors at the time including a claim that the British Government had financially supported Jenner’s vaccine experimentation to the tune of 20,000 pounds.
Journal reviews at the time in the 1800’s showed that a great many people who had undergone vaccination were still suffering from smallpox.
Numerous Medical journals detailed how smallpox could still infect those who previously had smallpox and that those who were vaccinated could also be infected.
There were more admissions to the London small-pox hospital in 1844 than during the smallpox epidemic of 1781 before vaccination began.
One third of the deaths from smallpox were in people who had previously been vaccinated.
Newspapers constantly reported deaths from smallpox in vaccinated citizens as well as deaths from other conditions after vaccination.
For example, from a skin condition called erysipelas.
The book also describes how even modern smallpox vaccines do not actually contain cowpox or smallpox virus, but a human/animal hybrid agent that never existed in nature until the era of vaccination. It has been cultivated over time by passing pox material back and forth between animals and humans….an unknown broth of hundreds of thousands of non-cowpox microbes…
The present smallpox vaccine is noted to contain African Green Monkey Vero cells, HEPES, 2% human serum albumin, 0.7% sodium chloride USP, 5% Mannitol, USP, neomycin, polymyxin B, 50% Glycerin USP, 0.25% phenol USP.

Interesting to note, that in March 2021, the Munich Security Conference and Nuclear Threat Initiative (NTI) announced that Monkey-Pox would be released on 15 May 2022.
They actually give advance notice to what they are doing. Just run of the mill tests I suppose.

Seems a lot like shingles which is rife in vaccinated people… is it a cover for that? In any case in the beginning they said the symptoms are hard to transmit and only last a couple of weeks… Just like all the ads on TV for IVF telling people that being unable to conceive is common – sterility being a common side effect of jabs..
I don’t think its anything to worry about – however there will still be plenty of people lining for whatever jab is available for this pox…! Will they never learn.
