The world is in the process of building 1600 new coal-fired power stations many using Australian coal. Bring on all the life-supporting CO2 we can get
When China halted plans for more than 100 new coal-fired power plants this year, even as President Trump vowed to “bring back coal” in America, the contrast seemed to confirm Beijing’s new role as a leader in the fight against climate change.
But new data on the world’s biggest developers of coal-fired power plants paints a very different picture: China’s energy companies will make up nearly half of the new coal generation expected to go online in the next decade.
1,600 new coal-fired power plants are planned or under construction in 62 countries.

These Chinese corporations are building or planning to build more than 700 new coal plants at home and around the world, some in countries that today burn little or no coal, according to tallies compiled by Urgewald, an environmental group based in Berlin. Many of the plants are in China, but by capacity, roughly a fifth of these new coal power stations are in other countries.
Over all, 1,600 coal plants are planned or under construction in 62 countries, according to Urgewald’s tally, which uses data from the Global Coal Plant Tracker portal. The new plants would expand the world’s coal-fired power capacity by 43 percent.
The fleet of new coal plants would make it virtually impossible to meet the unrealistic and naïve goals set in the Paris climate accord, which aims to keep the increase in global temperatures from preindustrial levels below 3.6 degrees Fahrenheit.
The United States may also be back in the game. President Trump said he wanted to lift Obama-era restrictions on American financing for overseas coal projects as part of an energy policy focused on exports.
“We have nearly 100 years’ worth of natural gas and more than 250 years’ worth of clean, beautiful coal,” he said. “We will be dominant. We will export American energy all over the world, all around the globe.”
Whilst I agree with the sentiment, “PCWWP” is closer to the truth, and Robin’s comment about about pollies being gutless is also wide of the mark.
Our pollies, in the face of massive criticism, continue to steadfastly obey the commands of their masters,……..SADLY, WE ARE NOT THEIR MASTERS.
Once you comprehend that, the rest falls neatly into line.
“The Australian Government” is the name of a registered corporation. The job of ALL corporations is to make money for their owners or share-holders.
Look to the global cabal and follow the money!
Peter O’Brien’s comment in Quadrant Magazine says it all: “Our emissions represent 1.3% of global emissions and yet we are crippling our economy and driving manufacturing offshore for nothing more than a feel good gesture. The government has refused to say how much cooling our efforts will accomplish. That is because they don’t know. Who spends billions on a project without knowing what the delivered product looks like?” We are killing the Golden Goose because our politicians are too gutless to admit they got it wrong.
Damned if we do ….and Damned if we don’t……Climate change …reduce pollution …….Renewable energy……..COAL……great profits…from exports……India China ….great pollutions ……more coal power stations create jobs……Arguments for and against…….FREE ENERGY based on Nikola Tesla’s inventions ARE CLEAN AND NO …POLLUTION……this is the future…Nuclear Energy Power Stations are a very big danger ……There are many nuke stations in America which have gone past their Use By Date and are a danger of Meltdowns …..Free Energy has been demonstrated with an invention by 2 engineers …and they for their trouble received attempted assassinations by poisoning……as corporations in todays energy market ..would lose big time …..So we are back to stage one……
I also love the Malthusian reference..
We should have the cheapest power in the world – except we have a criminal political class taking orders from the Globalists who have designated us as a quarry.
