Sorry Mr Spies but Russell Fry is not on our list of correspondents. And speaking of birthrights, the Liberals and Nationals have assumed this mantle for decades. The LNP only represents the big end of town,the Lodge and foreign interests. One does not need to be a Rhodes Scholar like Bob Hawke and Tony Abbott to understand these facts.
The LNP campaign was the worst in living memory and is a blight on what was once, albeit many years ago, a nationalistic party looking after Australian interests. I suggest you peruse the pages of Cairns News and ask Noelene Ikin the hopeful Dragon-Sayer of untruths, not to be confused with Dragon Slayer, why she doesn’t support the former Liberal and National policies on national banking and development and the host of other policies and Bills dealing with 457 visa workers, foreign government ownsership of prime farmland and the destructive coal seam gas industry that are sitting on the Bar Table right now that have been put up by Katter. – Robert J Lee

Misinformed comments by farnorthener shows the impact of the lying Liberal campaign on people who have not checked the evidence properly. For the last time the only seats preferenced by KAP were Capricornia, Flynn, Herbert and Hinker. Why these seats? Because of KAP’s good result in the state election. KAP needed a senator and this was the only way of maximising the senate vote and keeping the Greens out of the senate, a task which was accomplished. Sorry to those correspondents, this will be the last mention of this illegal LNP campaign!

Who are the ones telling lies?
Prove to me that it is a lie that Bob Katter is preferencing Labor in the Senate paper please.
Also it is common knowledge that Bob Katter broadcast that he was preferencing the MARGINAL SEATS of GRIFFITH, FORDE, CAPRICORNIA, FLYNN, HERBERT AND HINKLER (that we know of).
I phoned all those electorates last week to see if this was in fact correct after Bob Katter had been on radio 4CA denying his choice.
I was assured that yes, that was correct – although some seats have split tickets.
Mr. Katter thought he was being loyal to Kevin Rudd by helping Rudd and Beattie in their seats as well as the Marginal ones mentioned above.
Why is he now so deceitful by lying about it?

Russell Fry what you write is misleading.
Katter’s Australia Party have preferenced Labor over the LNP in all marginal Queensland seats and the Senate i.e. seats like Herbert, Hinkler, Blair, Forde, Capricornia, Flynn etc.
This deal of preferences may freeze out the LNP and save Labor candidates in knife-edge contests. In Forde, where Beattie is standing, KAP (based on the Queensland results) got 10 per cent of the vote. If that vote was maintained in the Federal Election, KAP preferences would be vital in a close contest.They would also be vital in Blair where KAP got 16 per cent, Capricornia (17 per cent), Herbert (27 per cent), Dawson (22 per cent), and Hinkler (14 per cent). ALP candidates will benefit enormously from KAP preferences.
Clearly, Katter wants to influence the outcome towards a Labor win.
He may say “a vote for the KAP is a vote for the KAP”… but does he think the Voters of Kennedy are that gullible? is the man in the Hat taking us for granted thinking Kennedy is his birth right whilst he plays Kingmaker?
We all know it is what Katter has signalled he will do with the people’s votes at the second count in giving them to Labor in these marginal contests.
