Top US lawyer Preston Byrne has thrown down the gauntlet to UK and Australian governments trying to censor the internet.
The UK’s communication regulator Ofcom has threatened US tech companies with massive fines if they don’t censor the internet as required by UK Online Safety Act.
Preston Byrne has informed Ofcom their laws don’t apply in the US because their tech platforms are protected by the First Amendment which guarantees free speech.
Furthermore Byrne has drafted the GRANITE Act which is before Congress and expected to be passed. Wyoming has already passed this act to protect free speech on the internet.
This leaves eKaren and Canberra in a very hard place. Australia and the political parties can scream all they like but Byrne has warned foreign countries their laws do not apply in the US.
When GRANITE Act becomes law any attempt to sue tech companies will be met with a counter-action three times the amount of the fine.
Communications Minister Anika Wells and her puppy eKaren can jump up and down all they like but Australia or any other foreign country cannot impose their censorship laws on the US which means an Australian internet regulation such as banning under 16 access is implemented purely by the good graces of the particular tech company such as Facebook.
Labor’s Hate Speech laws cannot be enforced by American tech companies. Byrne says Australia and the UK could prevent access to different parts of the internet but did not seem willing to do so.

You blokes at Cairns News have spoken several times about the Crimes Act Section 28 and the Criminal Code Act 1995, Section 83.4 which protect our political rights and duties, but seem not to have learned the lesson.
That being that your political rights are there to enable you to criticise anything the politicians do-and that means criticising immigration, and any other BS the Parliament lays on us.
We also have unalienable rights, such as the right to free speech, to be free of persecution, and freedom of association, amongst others. One of our political rights and duties is our right to call out the corporate BS government for breaches of our rights, one being the right to demand that THEY honour thier Constitutional obligation to protect life and property,
Part of that property being the Constitution itself, which is the contract between us and THEM, and which Constitution is the Commonwealth property mentioned in those two Acts.
To help you all out I have already sent those Acts to my local Senator, Sarah Henderson, and will call her, and local MP Richard Marles’s offices to ask them what the bloody hell they think they are doing.
I will also be asking Senator Henderson’s staffer why the office was not open when the phone message said her office would be open on the 12th of this month?
For two consecutive days the message was “Office closed.”
It might be well, then, for you all to have a copy of those Acts, the Criminal Code Act having been adulterated in later editions of the government websites. Hmmm?

Most those those UK Royal publications who’d reporters are Royal experts with inside gossip of what the Royal family members speak about are registered in the USA for the same reason why the UK cannot censor anyone outside the UK
