Europe is looking rather like it did in 1944, when the Russians and Americans were closing in from the East and West in a two-front offensive. This time the political situation is different, or in some ways reversed, but I suspect the outcome will be similar.
Despite their obvious disagreements with regards to their competing international interests, America, Russia and China are actually working more closely together than most realise. All three super-powers realise that Europe is politically toxic and incapable of meaningful diplomatic relations. It is a failed super-State, dying and dangerous. A relic from the twentieth century.
