Even in the 21st century, Israeli children are taught to sing “The Whole World is Against Us” (“Ha’olam Ku’lo heg’denu”). We have not only David M. Weinberg’s defense of the “shfoch hamatcha” prayer, but even Rabbi Meir Y. Soloveichik, “The Virtue of Hate,” First Things, Feb. 2003 (available online) (“When hate is appropriate, then it is not only virtuous, but essential for Jewish well-being”). Soloveichik is not a fringe figure. He is a member of an exceedingly eminent Orthodox rabbinical family. When he wrote the article he was resident scholar at the Jewish Center in Manhattan and a Beren fellow at Yeshiva University and was studying the philosophy of religion at the Yale Divinity School.
Note the words “essential for Jewish well-being.” The “virtue of hate” seems to come of a positive need to be hated. The widely published Rabbi Dr. Dan Cohn-Sher-bok, professor of Jewish history at the University of Wales (Lampeter) and author of The Paradox of Anti-Semitism (2006), says in an interview with the Independent (U.K.), March 19, 2006 (available online) that: “Jews need enemies in order to survive. . . . [I]n the absence of Jew-hatred, Judaism is undergoing a slow death. . . . We want to be loved, and we want Judaism to survive intact. . . . these are incompatible desires. . . . Why do we endure? Because we’re hated.” (Emphases added.)
Cohn-Sherbok says of a founder of Zionism, Theodor Herzl: “He warned that if our Christian hosts were to leave us in peace for two generations, the Jews would merge entirely into surrounding races.” Id. Herzl also wrote in his conclusion to Der Judenstaat (1896): “Universal brotherhood is not even a beautiful dream. Antagonism is essential to man’s greatest efforts.”

The alleged connection of Karl Popper, Hayek, the Mont Pelerin Society and the Congress for Cultural Freedom is highly misleading. As far as I know Popper and Haye did not groom Soros at the LSE, Soros attended lectures by Popper and liked the idea of the open society.
I read several books by Soros and found no trace of Popper’s more important ideas about the defence of freedom, tolerance (but no unlimited tolerance) and piecemeal rather than radical social reform. None of this foundational ideas in the theory of knowledge and the institutional study of science.
Popper had no part in forming the Mont Pelerin Society, that was Hayek. Popper was a foundational member, with some economists and classical liberal thinkers. Not an oligarch in sight, and Soros had no connection with the organisation.
Popper and Hayek had no role in the organization of the Congress for Cultural Freedom and again Soros was nowhere in sight. They unknowingly accepted money channelled by the CIA and some were upset but others said they didn’t take orders from outsiders.
The Australian chapter, the Association for Cultural Freedom was fractured and half of the committee resigned, the others said it is not a good look but we are indepe4ndent so who cares. Peter Coleman wrote the definitive history of the Congress.

1st problem being that the respective Guardian headline doesn’t accuse Trump of being, quote “antisemitic”.
It simply suggests that Trump has accused Soros of falling foul like so, quote:
“billionaire (Soros) ticks all the boxes on the anti-semitic score card”
2nd problem being that the vid doesn’t record Trump saying anything more than, quote:
“Well, Soros is a name certainly that I keep hearing. I don’t know. But Soros is a name that I hear. I hear a lot of different names. I hear names of some pretty rich people that are radical left people. Maybe I hear about a guy named Reed Hoffman. He’’s a pretty rich guy I guess and I hear about him. As for the Sumud Flotilla, the Israelis first jammed the ships telecommunications to disable the vessels, leaving them drifting hopelessly around at sea, at which point, the Israelis used the ships hijacked telecom system to play ABBA songs at full blast!
