Salt Pan Blues

Described by the ‘The Conversation Hours’ Richard Fidler as “The Doors meets Jack Kerouac & Slim Dusty” and songwriter/frontman Gav Dear as “one of the most remarkable men I’ve ever met”,

The Roadtrippers perform their strange far northern tales with a manic machinery shed aesthetic. Combining acoustic country with raucous Rock n’ Roll they occupy a unique place is northern Australia’s music scene.

The Roadtrippers, born in the little frontier abode of Cooktown, Far North Queensland in 2004 and generally shunned by all but the certified insane they have slowly built a word of mouth loyal following in the strangest little corners of Australia.

In 2005 the band received national airplay with the release of “100 smokes to Kununurra” described by Time Out Magazine Brisbane as “a no frills road themed sleeper and quite possibly a Northern Australian classic”.

  1. Oh. My. God. You guys!?! Never heard of you until just 20 minutes ago. What can I say? I may well be feeling – for the first time in literally decades, some kind of warm and fuzzy love!?! Please, I wanna hear more…

  2. I finally finished reading On the Road not an hour before this came up, and although this isn’t jazz or bebop it definitely hits the spot. Great fun, I’ll check them out next time I’m way up north.

  3. Loving it & played it for mates as well & it was very much appreciated. Now I want to return to Cooktown. It’s been several decades. Appreciate their music; taking us back there…
