Katter’s Australian Party (KAP) Deputy Leader and Hinchinbrook MP Nick Dametto has expressed his disgust and outrage over a shocking home invasion and sexual assault that occurred in Cairns earlier this week.
“During the night, a woman was allegedly subjected to one of the most terrifying and violating crimes imaginable, in her own home, by a pack of young criminals who think they can act with impunity,” Mr Dametto said.
“This is outrageous, predatory offending allegedly committed by youth criminals inside someone’s own home, a place that should be a safe haven. This is exactly why we need Castle Law in Queensland.
“People should have the right to defend themselves, their families, and their properties without fearing legal consequences. Castle Law would make it crystal clear – if you break into someone’s home, you forfeit your rights.
“It’s beyond belief that people have to live in fear of something like this happening to them.
“This also further highlights the ludicrous gap in the State Government’s ‘adult crime-adult time’ laws, which are a step in the right direction, but fell well short by not including rape among the list of offences subject to potentially harsher penalties.
“We need action now to ensure that anyone committing these horrific acts face the full and appropriate consequences for their actions. To start with, we need Castle law to deter home invasions, followed by bush sentencing for youth offenders so they are removed from the comforts of their city environment and their criminal peer cohort.
“Regardless of what the statistics say, Queensland is in a crime crisis that is only getting worse. We all deserve the right to feel safe in our homes and have the legal protection of Castle law to defend ourselves if needed.”

A couple of years ago I phoned a souvenir shop in Broome after reading that the shop have been overrun by young Blackfella kids wrecking the shop and stealing goods, etc.

However, with police forces now all privatised, the fact is that the governments that did that, and the police corporations themselves, hold full commercial liability for these failings.
And if you look at Victoria’s Police Act, Division 2, you will find that that legislation prohibits the Police minster from telling VicPol to do anything at all.

We already have the Castle law in place. We can defend our home from intrudeers up to and including ending their lives. But… Big BUT, if you have a weapon and you incapacitate them so that they can no longer harm you, then you must stop inflicting any further violence on them and call the cops to arrest them. You can tie them up if you think it’s necessary.
Better to put a No Trespassing sign at the front gate, another on the back gate or entry. It won’t stop the usual suspects, but it can be used against any GovCorp employees who ignore the sign. A trespassing charge is serious and if you take anyone to court for trespass they will lose as long as you have the evidence to show they were warned not to enter.
