China’s navy conducting maneuvers in the Pacific

Watch the video.

In a presentation to Institute of Public Affairs’ members, national security expert, Peter Jennings AO, discusses the strategic challenges facing Australia and the threat China poses to our region, including the Torres Strait.

Both sides of politics agree that Australia’s current strategic environment is the most challenging since the Second World War. Peter explains how Chinese leader Xi Jinping has ordered his military to be ready for war by 2027.

There are many difficult decisions that future Australian governments will face on strategy, budgets, alliances and partners, on understanding the threats we face and how we position our forces to meet them. The IPA and Strategic Analysis Australia is currently publishing new research that contains concrete and practical recommendations that will be achievable in the next term of government.

China has already started its planned military objective as mentioned by Peter Jennings in the video by sending advance parties in October to the Torres Strait looking for land at the Tip of Cape York and a seaport, fuel dump and acquisition of the Horn Island International airport.

Will Dutton and the next Liberal Party government immediately jump to attention now that Trump is officially in control of the US military?

From the land of Australians

38 thought on “Can Australia defend itself from the threat of China in the Indo-Pacific?”
  1. Definately NOT with comrade Anthony Maobanese in charge.

  2. Peter Jennings. Former head of the US MIC sponsored organisation advising the Australian government on all things military. The organisation leading the anti-China propaganda in Australia that now has a branch in Washington DC.

Really Cairns News? Parroting the ex-head of the ASPI’s bullshit is up there with parroting Swiss bankster Pascal Najadi of 1MDB banking swindle fame.

Then again, you run articles by Lyndesy Symonds. Fortunately many of your readers are awake enough to know his “it’s the communists” distraction is simply that, a distraction.

  3. Ah, the Chinese Threat! We must first send Aussie troops to Saigon to curb Vietnamese communism. The Vietnamese communists presented us with a threat first. The Chinese should also wait their turn until we’re done with the Afghan, Iraqi, Libyan, Syrian, Iranian, Yugoslavian, Russian and Palestinian “threats”.

Jumping the queue is such bad manners.

  4. Jennings, a typical public servant, making no sense at all. He delves into the fact that China set up three bases in the South China Sea but doesn’t mention that the U.S. has done the same in 760 (?) foreign countries around the world. He gloats that China is bankrupt financially. So is U.S., U.K. and Australia among other Western Nations. He doesn’t mention that allowing the U.S. to set up shop in Australia will make us a target to take the brunt of any attack caused by the U.S. interference in the South China Sea.

  5. Except…for…politicians….that go against….their occupier’s…instructions…Fin

  6. Look what’s happening in occupied Germany as an example as what could happen in occupied Australia, and we are occupied by a foreign military force.

Pirate Scholz has scuttled his own ship.

Pirate fired his coalition partner, finance minister Christian Lindner, leader of the pro-business Free Democrats Party, accusing Linder of breaching his trust after they met to address a shortfall in the nation’s budget.

Former banker with Goldman Sachs, Jörg Kukies will make temporary repairs to the void created by Pirate.

Pirate’s Social Democratic Party (SDP) and the Greens who lashed out with woke abundance calling Linder selfish and saying he put personal politics over the national interest, will now form a minority government.

German Green, Annalena 360 Baerbock, minister for foreign affairs, returned home from last Monday’s Nov. 4 visit to Ukraine, where she gave emotional support but no concrete assurances to her Ukrainian counterpart.

Pirate has a big hole in his budget,

🎼 There’s a hole in my bucket, dear Lena, dear Lena, there’s a hole in my bucket, dear Lena, a hole. 😞

The Zelenskyy curse? has felled many bankrupt leaders, Biden?

The industrial might of the Mark, the staple of the Euro, was hunted down and destroyed by a united force led by Mammon and Hegemony.

The Nord Stream saboteurs laughed ha…ha…ha, as billions, maybe ten trillion tonnes of greenhouse gas belched into Greta’s universe…the silence of the lamb. 🤫

Now who will supply Pirate his gas, what, where, when, “Why ME!!!”, he screams to the Matronae, “mercy…mercy”

But one pipeline survived and has been waiting, waiting……waiting for Pirate to turn on the tap.

Why has Pirate not turned on the tap for his people, industries and the national interest; what evil voices control his once clear mind?

What’s wrong in Lindner telling Pirate to suck on the laughing gas, that renewables won’t sustain the German animal?

Did he say that? Maybe in other words.

“A document leaked by Christian Lindner’s finance ministry in Berlin last week laid out a plan for tax cuts and fiscal discipline that political analysts interpreted as a challenge to the multibillion euro investment programme put forward by Economy Minister Robert Habeck (++Greens party) days earlier.” – Straits Times Nov 3, 2024

More solar and wind, maybe, it is written.

“Our country needs a government that doesn’t just officiate, but is capable of action,” added now ex-minister Lindner on Thursday. “The right thing to do would be to immediately put the question of confidence to the vote and call new elections. In a democracy, no one should be afraid of the voters.” – Le Monde

  7. BTW, I’m told it was grand of us to send over $1000 MILLION dollars of OZ taxpayer money in military and other support to the former Pale of Settlement, widely and long considered the largest bastion of corruption in “Europe”.

We couldn’t have BORROWED a better BILLION bucks for a better reason than to get entangled in someone else’s shtfight at the other end of the world, eh?

  8. Great to see other Aussies are not fooled once again by the military and political classes. If china had wanted to invade Australia they could have done it any time since WWII.

As with all foreign countries our Governments give them anything demanded of us, so why would China or any other country go to the cost, monetarily or man power to invade?

  9. “People need to chill out, get a grip on reality.”

Last time I looked (yesterday and 20+ years ago) it was the Oz navy battleships and the NATO contingent sailing around China rather than the Chinese sailing around UK, US and Oz.

But maybe I’m suffering from myopia and delusion? So good to have the bought and paid for MSM and local politicians and ideologues tell me the truth to set me straight.

  10. “Will Dutton and the next Liberal Party government immediately jump to attention now that Trump is officially in control of the US military?”

Since when have all of parliament not been standing to attention?

Dutton is drunk on AUKUS and all things Israel; who else in their right minds would berate the impotent International Criminal Court for intending/pretending to investigate racial and religious mass murder of defenceless innocents in the Gaza Strip, a post market wonderland and dumping ground for US merchants of death and their sponsored sale engines in government.

People need to chill out, get a grip on reality.

  11. Kennedy & Eisenhower on the Military Complex
Posted Sep 2, 2024 by Martin Armstrong

    Eisenhower Warned us:
“In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist.

We must never let the weight of this combination endanger our liberties or democratic processes.
We should take nothing for granted.
Only an alert and knowledgeable citizenry can compel the proper meshing of the 1mgc industrial and military machinery of defense with our peaceful methods and goals, so that security and liberty may prosper together.”

  12. Will you now please allow me to put a comment in ?
I’ve been ? banned ? have I since the 16 September, 2024, please remove my commenting ban. It is against everything we all stand for that I have been banned from commenting in the first place.

  13. THE SAVING GRACE IS NOW THAT TRUMP IS GOING TO BE PRESIDENT AND THE BIDEN ADMIN WHO ARE THE REAL WAR MONGERS MAY BRING STABILTY TO THE WORLD AND THE FIRST STEP I SEE IS THAT THE US WILL WITHDRAW SUPPORT FOR THE VERY CORRUPT UKRAIN.

  14. Get a grip on yourselves and on reality all ye snowflakes. The Chinese will not wish to be devastated again by any more western inspired Opium Wars and Manchuria style Japanese invasions. The pot calls the kettle black. And we’re being led by the nose, again.

    https://www.aljazeera.com/features/2017/12/6/john-pilger-qa-us-missiles-are-pointed-at-china

    “China is surrounded by 400 US military bases;

“US naval forces are on the doorstep of China. US missiles are pointed at China from Okinawa and southern Korea.

“There are no Chinese naval ships and no Chinese bases off California; there is no demonstrable Chinese military threat to the US, though China has made significant defensive preparations since Obama’s “pivot”.

  15. Best to stay out of wars promulgated by the US. With their economy circling the drain they are becoming desperate. “To be a friend of the US….”. You know the rest.

  16. Not on your life done nothing with our defence since ww2, been ripe for the pickings since

  17. @carol
Here is a quote from the article linked below, (and not even mentioning the Lockheed/Raytheon aerospace launch facility at Gulkula, simply a proxy USA base).
‘Going forward, the U.S. will now be able to work at Royal Australian Air Force Base Learmonth, on Australia’s western shores, and will also expand its construction work on Scherger and Curtin, two other bases on different ends of the northern coast, according to the Pentagon’

  18. A fight in the South China Sea will see Australia run dry of fuel in a matter of days. There will be no fight, as the Chinese will just have to drive in, as nothing in thsi country will move:
    https://irp-cdn.multiscreensite.com/772f65eb/files/uploaded/NRMA%20Fuel-Security-Report-Pt2.pdf
I asked Senator James Paterson about it, soem months ago, after an appearance on Q&A, detailing the Report.
Paterson had the temerity to tell me, via email, that “…we are advocating…” in respect to that issue.
If Paterson is part of the federal government and advocating, the wonder of it is: advocating to whom?
    Fair dinkum!!!

  19. Ok. Let’s put this into perspective. Let’s admit that Australia is a puppet to the USA warmongers.

China is our biggest trading partner, Russia is also significant.

USA is not wanting a world to exist where they are not in the middle, controlling things and clipping the ticket of trade deals.

How many bases does China have outside China? Maybe a couple, however not in foreign countries, but from atols/islands that have built upon and expanded.

How many overseas bases (external to USA mainland) does the USA have. Last count was 760 (and this does not include ‘Embassys’ which are also a US intelligence bases of course).

Germany didnt declare war on the USA when their Nordstream pipeline was blown up. Why?
Germany is collapsing due to the high cost of energy (which comes from now, guess, the USA) and also due to woke ‘renewable’ policies.
Germany didnt declare war because they are already occupied.
    5 US bases in Germany.

We have 5 USA bases in Australia, and expanding to provide B2 bomber maintenance support.
Now China wants to put a base outside their territory, in return for local development, Torres Straights ( think the USA and bases in Philipines, same deal) and now China is the demon.
The question I have is this:
How many countries have a base in the USA?
    The answer is none.
Think about it. Who are the aggressors here.

  20. The U.S. Has 750 Overseas Military Bases, and continues to build more to encircle China. So who is the threat? We have 3 US bases in Australia. We are being used by the US just like they used Ukraine against Russia.
