Queensland residents draws to the attention of the House there are approximately 4,000 wind turbines planned along the Great Dividing Range. With over 3,736 kms of haulage roads causing massive land fragmentation high biodiversity forests, critical habitats for koalas, greater gliders, red goshawk, magnificent brood frog and the Sharman’s rock-wallaby are being bulldozed. The destruction of vital habitats for endangered species is unacceptable in the pursuit of renewable energy targets.
Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to cease processing renewable energy development assessments and call for a moratorium until a comprehensive review with proper community consultation is undertaken. We also request the House to do all in its power to reform the State Assessment Referral Agency (SARA) and remove State Planning Code 23. This code currently exempts renewable development applications from rigorous assessment processes. We further call for the Department of Environment to oversee the assessment of all development applications and request the material change of use to industrial without consultation be stopped.

That photo reminds me of Malaysia where palm oil companies chain cleared the jungle killing off the wildlife just to grow a crop oil producing trees that have a life span of 10 years before they are cut down for the tree to continue to grow again for another 10 years to then the stump has to be removed to plant again for the next cycle all for little profit since the world saw the destruction of the native fauna so why aren’t wind farms that supply little electricity like in that photo who have destroyed the native fauna ,aren’t they entitled to be treated the same by the whole wide world ?
Nothing wrong with a PETITION …it’s a good way to express one’s opposition or approval of something ….. BUT, if submitting it to a so-called “government” for “consideration” is pathetic. Lord Thomas Denning said “The purpose of a court in a civilized society is the vindication of men’s rights and the enforcement of just causes”. How about getting off knees and doing a little standing up!
For some reason this wind turbines story did not show up on the CN home page and the same for the previous wind turbines story a couple of days ago

I expect they would use a device known as an “inverter”, if you are in NZ they are probably unknown there because it is always cloudy and raining
If these moron politicians think that they can power a city’s electrical needs with solar panels and windmills they’re stupider than they look. They need to go back to the WEF cap in hand and tell them to F off.
Cairns News are reluctant to make contact with me.
Wind turbines do not produce the essential and legally required 50 hertz energy as required per your jug label. 50 Hz
Secondly if they did produce 50 hertz how would the energy be synchronised to the grid another legal requirement.
Here is hoping the build does not go ahead and all existing turbines are removed and legal action begins.
All that waste of money and destruction for nothing.
Who is responsible for designating that only Queenslanders can sign the Petition = obviously an arm of the Government. This is our country regardless of which State we live in & these Political fruitloops are destroying our country & therefore it is surely my God given Right to sign any Petition that I want to sign. I have notyiced this restriction is placed on some other Pettitions & it is criminally wrong. Lake Pedder was a State Issure yet Australians allover protested loud & clear as they have on many other occasions.
