The Wall Street Journal 2009 article “How Israel Helped to Spawn Hamas” is Fascinating, to say the least, see https://archive.md/6mQ4Z#selection-4121.0-4121.32 . But VERY complex, so i’ve timelined the entire article below, if that’s of any help. So, almost at the very TOP of the list is:
“1948: the British Mandate of Palestine, West Bank & Gaza. Israeli/Palestinian counter-claim.”
Perhaps the British made the first fatal mistake, yet hide behind the conflict raging toward unbelievable heights. Egypt ruled Gaza, but:
“1967: Nasser suffered crushing defeat, Israel took control of Gaza & West Bank in 6-day war.” I recall the 6-day war, & wondered why a British Sergeant was over the moon with this result.
“Religious affairs official Mr Cohen warns the lenient approach allows Mujama to become a monster. Cohen declares Israel never financed/armed Hamas, but neglect nurtured the Muslim Brotherhood plan.”
Some ‘good/bad’ news perhaps:
“1990s: PLO dropped vow to destroy Jewish state. The rival Hamas did not.”
Then:
“Israel gets ferocious after 1994 suicide bombings. But this increased Hamas appeal to Palestinians.”
It seems Israel was damned both ways, with no way out. Raises the 1948 British Mandate once again. “Israel tried to decapitate Hamas, but increased Hamas support. A bungled assassination led to the release of Yassin, now a hero.”
“2000s: Yassin killed by Israeli air strike. “The price of crushing Hamas is a price that Israel would prefer not to pay.””
“2009: Mr Cohen israeli jew says “Hamas, to my great regret, is Israel’s creation.””
It seems so easy to place blame either way. One can understand the anger of Palestinian factions, many fighting amongst themselves. And unfortunately, it’s ‘understandable’ that young Israelis now call for the complete destruction of Gaza, as a ‘solution’ has NOT been forthcoming all these decades.
Arab factions pre- & post-date the British mandate, & include: Muslim Brotherhood, Fatah, PLO, Mujamas, al Qaeda, & finally, the ever-popular but intractable Hamas. How can one take sides, then, when it must therefore be an issue of international responsibility? Does that include back-pedalling the British Mandate, & HOW? Is a Ukranian homeland on the agenda, & how viable is THAT?
Higher-dimensional information may not be well accepted in this day & age, but putting opinions & religious thought side, on a Collective basis try: “What seems like punishment is nothing more than natural law asserting itself. It’s Not Our Fault, we say, & we are Right, it is our CHOICE. The World/Earth/our Life is in the shape it is in because of US, the Choices we make, or fail to make.”
Let’s just call this ‘state of international affairs’ sad for the moment, given there are very tough barriers toward: “Society rejects elements that exist beyond a physical, material world, smothered & misunderstood with time. But new awareness will be like a magnetic tide, gathering followers as it flows & sweeps right in. Man will be more interested in his fellow man, rather than an enemy out for his blood.” Be assured, it’s coming.

1928: Hamas traces roots to Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt toward Islamic devotion.
1948: the British Mandate of Palestine, West Bank & Gaza. Israeli/Palestinian counter-claim.
Muslim Brotherhood recruits followers in Gaza & elsewhere.
Gaza ruled by Egypt’s Nasser, who brutally repressed the Brotherhood.
1964: Fatah, the backbone of the PLO. Hijackings, bombings and other violence against Israel.
1967: Nasser suffered crushing defeat, Israel took control of Gaza & West Bank in 6-day war.
“The Arab defeat provided the Brotherhood with a big opportunity,” says Hamas supporter Mr. Tamimi.
1970s/80s: Israel allowed pre-cursor of Hamas, Mujamas, setting up Islamic infrastructure.
Regarded an un-intentional mistake. “You kill Hamas you might get al Qaeda.”
Hamas was encouraged/tolerated to ‘balance’ PLO & Arafat’s Fatah through Islamic cleric Yassin.
Yassin considered a big danger, more interested in politics than faith.
1974: Arab states declare PLO the “sole legitimate representative” of Palestinian people.
1979: Israeli governer declared Yassin 100% peaceful toward Israel, despite perils of political Islam.
Yassin & Israel had shared enemy: secular Palestinians such as Fatah.
1980s: Yassin’s Gaza Islamic activists battling Fatah. Israeli security forces stood back.

Seems some of us are more equal than others.
Have you noticed how often lately some ‘authoritative’ voice asserts, totally unsubstantiated, “there’s been a rise in antisemitism lately” ?
They expect you to believe it’s everywhere…The term has been stretched to apply to any criticism of Israel, even to denunciations of Zionism, turned into a blanket term to shut down all legitimate criticism…
A state government has twisted it to mean that even giving a Nazi salute is antisemitic…Laws against “Hate Speech” – that empower the government to decide what “hate” is – are used to silence ALL criticism…
Isn’t it odd anyone objecting to the mass slaughter of Palestinians is automatically labeled pro-Hamas by the lying media. Of cause the Americans are right on to it, no surprise there. The media says hate and like good little serfs, they hate but it’s not really their fault. After all, they’ve been brainwashed since birth to believe they’re exceptional, just no one’s bothered to tell them exceptional is just another way of saying racist. If you don’t believe it, look it up. I dare you.
China, Russia, Iran, Iraq, Yemen, Palestine, Libya, Syria, Nth Korea, they even hate their allies. They just rev up the good old American hatred and presto, yet another nation gets bombed back to the stone age under false pretenses and after Palestine it’s Iran.
America got upset recently because no American hostages were released. It never entered their head not even a cockroach can enter Israel undetected and the chances of hostages even existing are slim at best. They know the media lies yet they believe every word of it. It’s just one distraction after another, from Bush’s Weapons of Mass Deception to Donald Trump’s going to save them at the next election. Try telling an American there’s more chance the Project for the New American Century is behind this madness than god as see what happens.
Americans are armed to the teeth to prevent tyranny yet the First Amendment’s been violated on every level, the Seconds heading that way through apathy so they shoot school kids, women shopping and each other. What’s troubling is when you include the incineration of the last remaining connection to Hawaii’s royalty in Lahaina and the elimination of the Ukrainian male, you can’t help but wonder who’s next…
