In the Zaporozhye direction the Ukros are setting cluster mines to prepare passages for an attack using heavy equipment. NATO equipment is equipped with good night optics the next wave of the offensive will involve fresh reserves. The offensive was prepared by NATO. The strategy was straightforward; saturate the troops with NATO equipment, distract them in Belgorod, hit the Kremlin and break through to Zaporozhye. RF Intel indicates the Ukros defeated in Zaporozhye, refused to advance to staging areas, other brigades were requesting evacuation. An entire Ukro platoon surrendered in the Avdeevka direction. The 110th Ombre platoon commander wanted to save his men as his command refused to evacuate his men following heavy losses. After negotiations, the remnants of the platoon met with the RF whom provided medical assistance. Unrest arises in units due to high losses in some units hence huge reluctance to go on the offensive. The Russians are enraged and are eager to kill NATO mercs it’s just that the Ukrainians keep getting tangled under our feet.
The RF’s current defensive tactics have been dubbed the “steel blade” due to the Ukros huge losses. Its the first time the Ukros are experiencing such heavy losses in this campaign. It’s predicted the Ukros will lose between 50-100,000 (potentially 150k) men on approach to either Vasilievka or Tokmak in the Zaporozhye region. Losses in equipment are predicted at 50% of those already handed over by the West. Anything further into the RF territory is becoming a pipe dream.
They are planning to strike Crimea with HIMARS and Storm Shadow missiles, their use outside the SMO zone will mean full involvement of US and UK in the conflict. The response will be to strike Ukro decision-making centres.
NATO / US strategists base their tactical experience on the Gulf War, their benchmark operation the origin of the American cavalry charge. They like to use infantry in fast armoured vehicles (ATV’s) to attack the front lines when fully supported by aviation, artillery. This tactic works when there is good communications between field units. However this fails when they run into a competent defense and countermeasures. US tactics are built on superiority over the enemy, no superiority then failure. The yanks greatest success in Iraq was their ability to bribe some of their military leaders. Once the generals are corrupted the battle is forfeited. How were those Kursk trench systems and minefields ‘mobile’? Were the Soviets moving their mines and trenches every day?
Anyone truly familiar with the Eastern Front, will know only too well, that tactics and counter tactics were being modified and copied on a regular basis. And the ‘killing zones’ were German developments, which the Red Army successfully copied via their famous ‘Pak-Fronts’ (note the German name) of Kursk. To counter this, the Germans then devised the Panzerkeil, and so on.
After Stalingrad, there was no fixed front line, and it was the Germans, out of sheer necessity, who introduced the concept of the mobile defence positions. As it was they, – who were now on the defence.
Due to Stalin’s Order 227 (1942), the Soviets were not allowed to fall back, so such withdrawal techniques were incapable of development by the Red Army. It was the Germans who were on the retreat in 1943, and it was they, who developed the mobile defence strategies: the so called ‘fire brigade’ model. Indeed, it was they who later developed the concept of the ‘mobile pocket,’ operating behind enemy lines. These were virtual armies operating well behind enemy lines, the most notable being in Belarus and Kamanets-Podolski (1944).
The tactical withdrawal initiative, was copied by the Red Army in late 1943, modelled upon Manstein’s model, but only after convincing Stalin, that Order 227 had to be dropped. Although Manstein’s operation failed due to lack of manpower, the strategy was deemed sound, and quickly adopted by the Red Army.
As for deep retreats, see the Battle of Frankfurt-am-Oder, which was the best executed example. The Soviets got slaughtered.

The Rf doesn’t need to copy the Germans…. they did this before as the Red Army during the battle of Kursk in 1943. They used mobile defense in depth consisting of multiple defensive lines with pre-designed killing areas saturated with their artillery and air power. Although the Germans were relatively much stronger than the Ukrainians, they suffered a massive defeat and after this it was retreat one way to Berlin.
