Billions of Canberra dollars have gone into Aboriginal corporations yet the little kids such as Kumanjayi Little Baby still get murdered. Pic NT News

Jacinta’s five year old niece allegedly was murdered by a local man at Alice Springs.

From NT Senator Jacinta Nampijinpa Price

I want to tell you about my niece.

Her name is Kumanjayi Little Baby. She was five years old.

Close-up portrait of a woman smiling, with long wavy hair and wearing a white jacket over a black top, set against a blurred natural background.

On Anzac Day this year, she went missing from the Old Timers town camp in Alice Springs.

Five days later, she was found dead.

The night she vanished, Kumanjayi had been put to bed on a mattress on the living room floor. Surrounded by empty Jim Beam bottles. In a house where the doors didn’t lock.

That is what her grandfather showed the country last week.

He said it was “a really nasty place for her to live”.

He’s not wrong.

And here’s what makes it worse.

Tangentyere – the Aboriginal corporation paid to look after that town camp – has received more than $70 million in federal grants since 2022.

That figure came out at Senate estimates this week. I read it into the record. Grant after grant after grant:

  • $11.2 million for the Central Australian Youth Link-Up Service
  • $9.4 million for capital works
  • $8.6 million under the Access to Education program
  • $2.9 million for Youth Employment Pathways
  • $1.6 million for playgroups
  • $842,000 for afterhours youth services
  • $55,000 for “play therapy”

There’s more. A lot more.

And on March 16 this year – six weeks before Kumanjayi went missing – the National Indigenous Australians Agency (NIAA) wrote another cheque for $841,500.

For “Afterhours Town Camp Youth Services”.

Six weeks before she vanished.

After hours.

From the town camp.

So where did the money go?

When I asked NIAA how much Tangentyere actually receives from the Commonwealth all up, the chief executive told me it would be “very difficult” to collate.

I was told to direct my questions to other departments. They could give me a “fulsome account”.

A fulsome account.

A little girl is dead on a mattress, and Canberra can’t even add up what it’s spent.

This is what the Indigenous affairs industry looks like from up close.

Tens of millions of taxpayer dollars flowing year after year. Programs with grand names. Bureaucrats who insist child protection is largely a Territory issue and head home for the night.

You and I both know this isn’t working.

It hasn’t worked for years. It hasn’t worked despite billions of dollars poured into it. And it won’t ever work as long as Canberra keeps measuring dollars paid in grants instead of keeping children safe.

The truth is plain.

Race-based programs don’t keep children safe. Houses with doors that lock do.

I am not going to stop asking the questions until we have answers.

Until every grant is accounted for.

Until the children in those camps have what your kids and mine have always had – a roof, a lock, a safe place to sleep.

That is what REAL solutions look like.

I’ll keep fighting for them. From the floor of the Senate. From Alice Springs. From every camp I can walk into.

Thank you for standing with me.#

8 thought on “Price asks where have Labor’s billions for Aboriginal welfare gone ?”
  1. I know where the money has gone. It has gone just like the same in nearly every other country on the planet, into the pockets & bank accounts of thousands of crooked bent dishonest politicians & their contacts . It is the same everywhere. Eg By now everyone here should know the news from da last 6 months or so that Blackrock is bankrupt just like every single country & most companies on da planet. All of this squandered at da expense of the poor people who mostly got nothing except dangerous jabs by Bill Gates & a death wish from their evil governments. Several millions of peoples globally have made good use of government & private funds for their own selfish benefits & to hell with the rest of the peoples. Here in aussieland it is the same cos they do it & think they are getting away scot-free, well they will meet the truth after this life & they are far from free.

  2. You will find the money in the pockets of the corporate aborigines, Jacinta. There are many who claim their native DNA, no matter how low the percentage, just to ride this money train.
We acknowledge the many wrongs done in the past, but these people weaponise “guilt” as a distraction to being questioned about where the millions are going, while they treat their own in the manner of which they accuse others.
Don’t stop till you get answers!

  3. Jacinta, our hearts bleed for you, and your family for Kumanjayi Little Baby’s passing, So sad, so avoidable!
Millions spent, how and where no one Knows? Or, do Not want to know more likely!
Taxpayers Aboriginal Affairs Industry monies have a bad habit of being misappropriated for decades
Can the Federal Government sort it out, or just Tax more to cover these criminal thefts?

  4. So what you should be doing is exposing the accounts that have benefited from these multi million dollar grants. There is no excuse in todays electronic accounting other than of fear in naming names.

  5. Well folks,
    .
    Jacinta said – “… It hasn’t worked for years…”
    .
Yeah it has, it’s all been going swimmingly well.
    .
And Jacinta said – “… It hasn’t worked despite billions of dollars poured into it…”
    .
But that’s the whole point, it IS working just the way they want, with all those BILLIONS of dollars pouring into it and being spirited away into real estate portfolios and fast cars and luxurious lifestyles and overseas bank accounts.
    .
Kudos to Jacinta Price, God bless and protect her for being a solitary voice of conscience and sanity, but you CANNOT “fix” what’s irreparably broken, you cannot “fix” a multi-billion dollar thoroughly institutionalised and utterly entrenched BLAME GAME EXTORTION RACKET.
    .
This is where EVERYTHING has to be DEMOLISHED and rebuilt from the ground UP. This is where the WHOLE BLOODY FOREIGN-OWNED CORPORATE PIRACY that masquerades as our “government” has to be broken into a thousand pieces and burnt to the ground, the proverbial RAT-INFESTED IRRETRIEVABLY CORRUPTED LUCIFERIAN CHAFF that has filled our grain silo to OVERFLOWING.
    .
And this is where sturdy rope and lamp posts will come in so very very handy. Lots and lots of them.
    .
Patience, children, just another half decade, just a few more years for enough Useless Eaters to have nothing left to lose and Mr. Rope & Mr. Lamp Post to answer the Fat Lady’s call. Just like Nepal, folks, only better, because we’ve got so many thousands more low-life Treasonous Australia-hating mongrel arsehole bastards to send back home to their Sugar Daddy in Hell.

  6. The solution is a completely new government with mostly new laws, and Jacinta Price as Minister of Aboriginal affairs, including all related expenditure.

  7. As Riccardo stated clearly placing the indigenous elders on notice, step up & clean up this mess. Last chance before we do & we know what that means to anyone harming children. 💀🕷️
