Rupert Murdoch digitises most regional papers or shuts them down

Regional Queenslanders and nearly all other districts across the nation are about to lose their local rag. Something as fundamental as a local newspaper which a reader can pick up from the newsagent  is a part of Australian culture. Regional Australia can place the blame fairly and squarely on the LNP/ALP duopoly for allowing such a concentration of media in the hands of one media monolith. Murdoch took the abundant advertising cream from these tabloids for two to three decades after buying most independent newspapers from family owned businesses across Australia.

Murdoch editorials and general news stories have always favoured the LNP first, then the ALP and bugger everybody else. This is how Murdoch was allowed to have such a disproportionate concentration of media ownership which includes nearly all major city dailies and The Australian. Billions of dollars revenue from government advertising and the grocery duopoly also played a big part in the editorial flavour of News Ltd publications.

The opportunity now presents itself for new players to enter the print media market but there is one snag. Murdoch still controls most of the tabloid printing presses in Queensland and the price of printing a local paper might keep new publications from filling the void.

Banjo Peterson will roll over in his grave.

About Editor, cairnsnews

One of the few patriots left who understands the system and how it has been totally subverted under every citizen's nose. If we can help to turn it around we will, otherwise our children will have nothing. Our investigations show there is no 'government' of the people for the people of Australia. The removal of the Crown from Australian Parliaments, followed by the incorporation of Parliaments aided by the Australia Act 1987 has left us with corporate government with policies not laws, that apply only to members of political parties and the public service. There is no law, other than the Common Law. This fact will be borne out in the near future as numerous legal challenges in place now, come to a head soon.

  1. Murdock is a Jew! Jews run Australia! JWO folks! You’d better start waking up very quickly

  2. What’s really sad is that most good honest ‘Strayans don’t seem to care as long as they can temporarily survive in an increasingly disastrous sociopolitical/economic/financial scenario. There’s nothing new. See what this bod said way back in 1991.

Its no wonder, the Fraser Coast Chronicle ( Wide Bay) has has become a Feminist/Socialist paper
( Ed publicly admitted this at about 4 am then closed the admission before 9am)

Has not published ANY GOV/Qld Health story’s exposing wrong doing since she took charge!

Publishing ANY story showing MEN in a Bad Light only publishing storys that show Females as ” Victims”.

50% of readers are ” MEN”.

most people I know dumped reading this Socialist rag years ago even at a $1 week.

  4. You have to laugh! He is unaware each copy of each regional newspaper in Australia is registered at the National Library of Australia? And what about copies kept in regional libraries? Murdoch and sons would have a huge and unwinnable task to try and wipe those collections out.

  5. Sir blar of tabelands

Last time I looked none of these papers are worth Ink. Murdoch is a dip who is more interested in the us market but due to financial emptiness of his us purchases needs Australians to continue to pay for subpar papers to keep his operations afloat in us. His son has a lot to answer for (in gitmo)
