Ron DeSantis presidential candidate: “Democrats sending America down a scary road”
Joe Biden is planning to arrest Donald Trump a second time. Never before has a sitting President weaponized the justice system to jail his leading opponent.
Donald Trump broke the news that Democrat prosecutor Jack Smith sent him a target letter over the weekend indicating that Smith plans to indict and arrest him for what happened at January 6 incident in the White House.
“Deranged Jack Smith, the prosecutor with Joe Biden’s DOJ, sent a letter (again, it was Sunday night!) stating that I am a TARGET of the January 6th Grand Jury investigation, and giving me a very short 4 days to report to the Grand Jury, which almost always means an Arrest and Indictment,” Trump posted.
Trump offered his first public comments on Smith arresting him on behalf of Joe Biden’s re-election campaign in a town hall event in Iowa hosted by Sean Hannity. “It bothers me for everybody in this incredible, sold-out audience. It bothers you — I got the letter on Sunday night.
“Think of it. I don’t think they’ve ever sent a letter on Sunday night. And they’re in a rush because they want to interfere, interference with the election. It’s election interference. Never been done like this in the history of our country and it’s a disgrace,” Trump declared.
ABC News reported on the charges Smith intends to indict Trump on.
“The target letter mentions three federal statutes: conspiracy to commit offense or to defraud the United States, deprivation of rights under color of law, and tampering with a witness, victim or an informant, sources familiar with the matter told ABC News,” ABC News reported.
Even Florida Governor Ron DeSantis – who is fighting to turn around his campaign and overtake Trump in the polls – told CNN’s Jake Tapper that this indictment by Smith is criminalizing political differences and sending America down a scary road where Presidents will not just arrest opponents instead of trying to defeat them at the ballot box.
“So here’s the problem: this country is going down the road of criminalizing political differences. I think that’s wrong. Alvin Bragg stretched the statute in Manhattan to be able to try to target Donald Trump.
“Most people, even people on the left, acknowledge if that wasn’t Trump, that case would not have likely been brought against the normal civilian,” DeSantis stated. – from Renewed Right
