Letter to the Editor
If our reefs are so depleted of coral cover then why is Coral Harvesting in Australia still going at full speed in Queensland, Northern Territory and Western Australia?
It’s hard to believe but for decades now, government licensed divers jackhammer out for export to marine aquariums, over 100 tons a year of hard & soft corals, anemones & live rock.
Sometimes in full view of horrified tourists on scuba excursions! But that’s ok because JCU, GBRMPA & all the governments say it is for the 30 odd companies exporting great chunks of our beautiful reef for profit & not a peep from the greenies.
See where it ends up at:

These guys say it’s all ok:

Well, it’s sorta like, the scientific gurus make the excuses that they’re told to make or they will lose their life of luxury and leasure funding.
Do as I say or else.

There’s always some emergency on the reef; recall the Crown of Thorns Star Fish crisis. Then there were the bulk ore carriers ploughing up the reef. That reef sure is a survivor, eh! “Always look on the bright side of life…”

The problem is, Irene, who does the protecting? The AUSTRALIAN GOVERNMENT (the American company) clearly doesn’t git a sh*t, they’re the ones making the money.
Hanging is no good, it’s too quick.

I thought that the Great Barrier Reef was World Heritage listed and therefore, protected.

Typical governmental bullshit over and over again, why is this OK? Because the Government is getting paid. Just like Elbo and Wong’s multi million dollar pay outs for their selling of more of Australia. Its ok when they make some cash. they do not really care for anyone but them selves.
