The lake system at the mouth of the Murray River where vast amoungs of fresh water are wasted in the name of "environmental flows".

NSW country MP Helen Dalton says and artificial lakes system at the mouth of the Murray River is being maintained by so-called environmental flows that take water away from productive agriculture. The artificial lakes system has a fresh water lake on one side and a salt water lake on the other, both separated by a concrete wall.

Mrs Dalton is calling for a Royal Commission into the Murray-Darling water supply system.

“That is not a natural lake system, that is a tidal estuary forced into an artificial freshwater state,” says Mrs Dalton, the Member for Murray, one of the major agricultural regions of NSW.”

“The science is clear. Before the barrages, the Lower Lakes rose and fell with the seasons. In dry years, they became salty. At times, they ran low or dry. That was normal river behaviour.

“What we have now is permanent freshwater levels maintained by pushing vast volumes of productive water out of the Murray and down to the sea.

“That water is stripped from farms, towns and food production upstream to prop up an artificial outcome that does not reflect the river’s history or ecology.

“This is sold as “environmental science”. In reality, it is policy-driven consensus that ignores hydrology, ignores history, and ignores consequences.

“Trust the science, not the consensus that demands endless flows to hold fake lakes full at any cost.”

The MP says every gigalitre sent through these barrages at the river mouth, is a gigalitre taken from jobs, food, regional economies and a river system that was never meant to be managed this way.

“This is exactly why we need a Royal Commission into water – independent, transparent, evidence-based,” she says.

“To ask why this happened, who benefited, and why, communities were never told the truth.”

From the land of Australians

9 thought on “More on the criminal, wasteful ‘environmental flows’ going out of the Murray-Darling system”
  1. Being ruled by two remote governments, one in Canberra and one in Geneva, is a recipe for disaster. Look at the corruption in Melbourne now, at least they can catch the premier and Dicktator Dan has had to develop a fake neurological disease or possibly been bashed but it seems less likely now. How is anyone going to catch anyone in Canberra, our richest city, or Geneva, in the richest country in the world. There are no cops because they own the top cop in these places, it’s a racket.

  2. The Riverina desperately needs to become a New State with its own senators to offset the senate power of the the Greens and the likes of greener than Green, David Pocock. Voting trends in regional Australia, New States would preclude the addition Greens and other environmentalist nut jobs to the Senate. The Riverina State Party has recently filed it application for political party status with the AEC. I wish them every success.

  3. Another clue as what environmentalism is all about:

  4. Productive agriculture is all well and good but it does matter which special interests it is productive for. If it’s for the local farmers and the Oz population it obviously isn’t sufficiently productive. It needs to be sold out and taken over by overseas special interests. Only then can we be said to be a part of the global village owned by the global globalists.

  5. When all of the artesian bores are uncapped that would cure the murray darling water health issues

  6. It’s all about mocking God whilst attempting to arrogate His power
Hence the innate bent toward doing the reverse of what He commanded:

“God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth and subdue it; rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and every creature that crawls upon the earth”
    GENESIS 1:28

Hence the oblivion to what’s up ahead

  7. I had been composing an email to a radio show on Triple R FM Melbourne having heard a load of waffle on the Indigenuity Blackfella show, where the young lass was talking about caring or country and other such rot.
One of the questions was about why the Blackfellas did not arc up, nationally, about former Environment Minister Plibersek’s intention to let Glencore mining dump thousands of tons of mining waste into the Great Artesian Basin?
Anther question was going to be about Murray Watt, in the same portfolio, allowing Aussie tourists in Bali to return during the Bali foot and mouth saga?
The feds allowed some 30k foreign students back into Australia during the Plandemic years, to help the universities make a quid, whilst disallowing the return to this country of who knows how many Aussies stranded overseas.
In regards to the water: Section 100 of the Constitution says that everyone has the right to fair use of the water for conservation (which I take to mean storage) and irrigation.
That being the case, and that the Constitution is the contract binding the governments of the day, the government is thus in breach of contract and should have the pants sued off them.
Poicy, as we all know, comes with inescapable commercial liability attached.
Pat and the gang-Sir Rope included-might liek to take that one up with their local Members.
