A NSW government regulator has blocked an attempt by North Sydney Council to increase its rates by 87% over two years, forcing the council to cut $25 million from its budget for the coming financial year.
We’re not crying and neither are North Sydney ratepayers. Cairns News suggests every Australian council should be slashing their bloated layers of corporate bureaucracies, who squander ratepayer funds not only on their own corporate salaries but on things like multicultural festivals, environmental surveys, arts festivals, welcome to country ceremonies and diversity seminars.
These are the same councils that will come together at the 2025 National General Assembly of Local Government (NGA) in Canberra from June 24-27 to whinge and whine to the Federal Government that they haven’t got enough money to cover their “increased responsibilities”.
It’s the same problem across the Tasman in New Zealand, but probably worse, where former local councils have been amalgamated into larger district and city councils overseen by regional environmental councils.
Australian and New Zealand councils, like the the state and federal bureaucracies above them, are afflicted by corporatism i.e. layers of management overseen by CEOs on enormous private-sector-equivalent salaries starting at around half a million dollars.
At the state and federal levels of government, within the Senior Executive Service, the median salary is $506,528. However federal and state Band 3 SES officers, for instance departmental secretaries in 2022-23, earned a median salary of $858,279, according to The Mandarin newsletter.
Another Sydney council, Northern Beaches, which was pushing for a 40% rate rise, was found to have been spending $171 million on a staff of 1800 people including 111 managers, directors and executives earning a combined $25 million.
The management layers of local government bureaucracies are well “looked after”, as are mayors and councillors. A “change manager” (whatever that entails) at Brisbane City Council in 2023 earned $127,986 per annum, a “team leader” $99,397 p.a. and “regional co-ordinator” $101,162 p.a.
Brisbane City librarians, who come under the “social science” category, earned from $70,300 to $82,600 p.a. Those down the ranks are represented by the Australian Services Union, formerly the Australian Municipal, Administrative, Clerical and Services Union, which is currently harassing councils across Queensland over what they are calling “inadequate” wage rises.
They may have a case for those council workers at the bottom of the barrel, but the reality is that most employees in any government job in Australia, especially those in the higher ranks, are well looked after.
Councillors and mayors in Queensland do quite well too. The outback, rural and regional councillors earn $60-$78k and the city councillors rake in from $100k to $166k. Mayors earn from $119,400 (rural) to $279,300 (Gold Coast). We assume Brisbane’s Lord Mayor is higher than that.
Nationally, government bureaucracy is a bloated, self-serving monster, sucking the lifeblood out of the nation, that is, the real wealth created by our farmers, miners, manufacturers (what is left of them) and the businesses that service them.
Councils and other bureaucracies are notorious for licensing. You want to sell ice-creams from your van? Well you better go to your council and pay the “fees” to allow this to happen, in addition to your food vendor licence annual fee.
The Queensland State Government has eight pages of information on how your local council calculates fees to “allow” you to run a food business: The fee may be based on administrative costs of recording details of mobile food businesses into the state register; administrative costs associated with recording and issuing the licence; professional costs for assessing the application; professional costs for undertaking inspections; professional costs associated with investigating complaints; administrative costs in maintaining a register of licensed food businesses.
So you who want to do business selling food, the bureaucrats from Big Brother Council want a slice of your pie even before the ATO gets their slice of your hard-earned money.
The debt-ridden state of Victoria is a lesson in government largesse bankrupting a state. That state government is attempting to drain what lifeblood is left in rural communities with a monstrous so-called fire services levy increase of 189%.
The pampered hordes of what we used to call the public service, are insulated from all of this and we are seeing the nation devolve into a two-tiered society of haves and have-nots. We already see the lower end of the latter in the homeless tent communities springing up in city parks across the nation.
Meanwhile in Melbourne’s notorious Labor-Green dominated councils like Darebin, we see multiple millions of dollars being squandered on “arts” and/or “cultural festivals” by councils who think it is their role to provide culture to their communities.
Darebin’s FUSE program boasts: “In our program, you’ll find everything from large community-gathering celebrations to smaller, intimate new experiences, with all manner of artist-led, risk-taking creativity in between. FUSE moves in step with the times, our communities and the rhythm of the seasons to inspire, connect, inform, entertain, gratify and provoke.
“At FUSE, we believe that art is for everyone. That’s reflected in the bold and diverse programs that we offer. No matter who you are, you’ll find something to love: something that speaks to you, connects you with others, or transforms your worldview.”
This council, and no doubt others in the Melbourne metropolitan area, has a 44-page “Darebin Creative Cultural and Infrastructure Framework”. It contains gems such as the following: “Understanding the spatial distribution of creative industries can provide insights into the conditions that are required to make creative communities flourish. These conditions may be physical or non-physical. For example, a physical condition could be the provision of a space while a non-physical condition could be the provision of funding.”
This is typical of the bollocks and baloney being peddled by big councils and their bureaucracies that is literally costing ratepayers and state taxpayers millions of dollars. Since when has it been the role of a council to provide “artist-led, risk-taking creativity” or to “transform your worldview”?
As for home-veggie patches and the small local grower, this was merely an example into the reality of micro-transactions. Because if you’ve got a community of five-hundred people who buy $20 of veg pw, – this gives the local farmer a weekly income of $10,000. But if everyone then decides to home-grow all their own produce, thus saving a weekly expenditure of $20, the local grower grower will simultaneously lose their weekly income of $10,000. That’s a very significant amount. This is the hidden power of ‘micro-transactions.’
Modern banks operate on this virtually invisible system of micro-transactions: they understand the reality.
People can deny economic entropy all they like, but the big players couldn’t care less, because not only do they understand it, – but they operate all of their investment, banking and insurance models according to its laws.
A plot of vegetable land is valuable only because the owner reinvests capital/labour into it each year. But as soon as he stops, the weeds take over, trees seed from the nearby hedges, and within a few years the valuable farmland has returned to woodland/scrubland. The plot of neglected farmland land will now be valued at a discount: that’s land value entropy.
Value entropy operates in everything [almost], every investment banker and insurer understands this. A change of purpose from farmland to property land will have the opposite effect of entropy, but as soon as the property’s finished, property entropy begins immediately.
At some point, all those old skyscrapers are going to come down, primarily because concrete has a natural shelf life of around a century. Steel and glass are better, as the building can be continually rebuilt like the Greek parable, – the Ship of Theseus.
Its a shame people prefer not to listen to the advice provided by those actually running the show, because if they had, they would not have missed this week’s highly anticipated U.S. political-economic-business conference, – headlined by leading U.S. White House economists, senators and future business leaders.
The meeting was supremely important as some of the more important public discussions, have just ‘confirmed,’ what some of us have known for some time: i.e., – the existing classical economics model driven by land, labour and capital will soon be confined to the waste-paper basket of history.
One of the leading economic advisers to the White House, eloquently pointed out, – that the advancing twenty-first economic model will see the demand for land, as an input to the economy, falling by a factor of 10, whilst the demand for labour will fall by a factor of 100.
So what’s left? – Capital.

The corruption is incredible, nobody should go to Coles and Woolworths, especially their “fresh” produce section where things are cool-stored for up to half a year, so they go rotten two days after you buy them. Yes it is a natural process as capital always seeks yield. So capital always relocates to where the yield is greater. Even a farmer understands this, which is why rich fertile yielding land commands a premium over poor soil, the same with beachfront real estate, etc, etc.

Land has been subject to this process for millennia, especially following the Industrial Revolution, and right now the procedure is accelerating as the new Industrial Revolution unfolds. Right now economic energy is rapidly moving into new asset classes, that are much further down the production chain than anything previously imagined.
The natural consequence will be the accompanying demonetisation of existing asset value, which is what many are already experiencing. No one can be blamed for this, its just what it is. If previous versions of this procedure hadn’t materialised, we’d still be living within a hunter-gather economy.
If a landowner, householder, or whoever, can avoid the the process of entropy, by whatever means, they will keep their wealth: Its that’s simple.

Farmers, particularly small farmers, don’t compete with big manufacturing industries. Barring mismanagement, they can happily survive and profit from their operations whether a manufacturing sector exists or not. Unless of course they are pressed into shut down by predatory interests.

In the West, the agricultural land based economy collapsed long ago, which is why the farming industry has been mostly Government subsidised for decades. They couldn’t survive otherwise, as rising inflation expressed via rising costs and taxes makes the industry uncompetitive with regards to other industries.
The farming industry is merely a competitor in the economy like every industry. It is losing because its product operates at the bottom of the production line hierarchy.
The cost of a product increases as it progresses from the raw material to the finished product, e.g., the raw material of sheep wool (cheap) to the finished woollen jumper (expensive). As farmers produce the raw product, they operate at the bottom of the production line.
Twenty-first century Western economies are predominately ‘end of the production line’ economies, as in manufacturing based economies, currently led by the technology industry. So how on earth can a few acres of land with a farm built on it, producing a cheap basic raw product, economically compete with a few acres of land with a tech factory built on it, producing an expensive highly engineered finished product?
It cannot, and it does not.
A much smaller plot of land occupied by a tech factory, can easily generate many multiples of economic return, greater than a farm occupying a far larger area of land. So the former generates more income on less land, whilst the latter generates less income on more land. One is defeating value entropy, the other is being destroyed by it.
As these high tech industries currently generate upwards of 80% of global GDP, contemporary inflation levels are formulated around these industries. This is why they have no problem keeping up with inflation, as they are basically leading it.
As a factory’s use of the land generates vastly superior returns to the farm down the road, the land taxes, electricity bills, water rates, etc, are easily affordable for them, but increasingly difficult for the farmer to pay, as his earnings are deficiently incomparable, so ends up getting further relegated in the industrial league as technological products continue to advance.
It is then, that the taxes of the outperforming industries go to subsidisation of the underperforming farming industry.
As smaller unproductive farms realise they can no longer compete, and sell up, the industries unaffected by value entropy can then buy up the land, – if they choose.
And that’s just the productive land, – for those with unproductive land its far worse. If you stop work, retire your family on your land, the taxes don’t stop, they will eat your savings into non-existence: thats value entropy.

Examining the Globalist Conspiracy to use the “Indigenous” as a land-grab
In our collective unawares, they keenly await their calculated moment to swoop, and strip-tear the fat of our land. The Voice Referendum is why they circle; a ‘Yes’ vote will signal their frenzied descent with razor beak. These vultures operate behind the seemingly noble front of the United Nations, and are truly the Transnational Globalists that have strategised to exploit the “Australian Aboriginal” as a cover to carve-up and consume our Australian land. They are ravenous, and they are coming for our farms, and they are scheming for at least seventy-percent of all land by 2030.
They believe you will be happy to own nothing, because you will have no choice — so, be happy, or else!
Globally, the United Nations are currently puppeteering their regional figureheads to recognise Native Titles, Treaties, and in Australia’s instance, a constitutionally enshrined ‘Voice to Parliament.’ However, it is all a grand deception to seize our vast natural resources and land: agricultural lands, forests, oceans, coastlines, nature reserves, metals (lithium), minerals (uranium), and waterways. Indeed, such humanitarian policies are not motivated by any sincere endeavour to address the plight of the Indigenous. All that has been propagandised and presented beneath the banners of “virtue” and “atonement” will only benefit a shadowy Cabal of oligarchical billionaires. Canadian, US and New Zealand territory is similarly being targeted by the Globalists, and our Prime Puppet, the mush-minded Albanese, has had his strings impatiently yanked to ratify their agenda at the expense of our sovereign nation.
We cannot permit this — this will be the end of Australia. We must not allow them to cut-out our collective tongues to gift themselves The Voice. We must speak out, but we must also be aware of what needs to be spoken to awaken Australians to the devious agenda. We must unite and unify in our opposition, exercise discernment, disengage with the government-funded Media trickery, and rationally articulate why we MUST vote ‘No.’
