They are rolling them out around the CBD.
You can’t pay for parking without giving them your rego number.
If you put a rego number in the machine, you can pay the money but there is no receipt unless you use a smart phone to retrieve a receipt from some app. If you give them a fake rego to protect your privacy, then you won’t have any proof that you did pay for the parking. Nothing goes on the windscreen. The meter-man has a machine which checks your rego and tells him how much you paid.
This is obviously a step by step process to get people used to the idea of total surveillance so they can slide in the ‘social credit system’.
If you don’t like having to give council your rego to be able to park in the CBD, you better let council know about it or they will finish the rollout making the entire CBD surveillance parking only.
