Want a cheap car? 19,000 to choose from
More than 19,000 cars were stolen in Queensland last year with Brisbane topping the score across the nation with 7000 disappearing.
Cairns recorded 1289 stolen cars at the end of December, a record for the far northern city.
The most common cars stolen were Toyotas, specifically Landcruisers, HiLuxs and Corollas, followed by Holden Commodores and Ford Rangers according to the RACQ.

“because we can…”
These were the top selling makes and models which are impossible to start without the right key. It follows on that thieves have been able to break into homes and find the keys which is worrying for homeowners who probably were asleep when the thefts occurred.
In Cairns the majority of thieves are usually aged 12 to 16 who have no fear of the police or courts. They often post the photos of stolen cars on social media including themselves sitting on the bonnet for a trophy shot.
Many of these juveniles are Aboriginal who should be at home late at night and going to school the next day.
There is a great deal of anecdotal evidence claiming the kiddie car thieves are part of an organised group which deploys them into neighborhoods because the courts are unable to keep them locked up when caught and there are minor consequences.
Recently two white 17 year old males caused more than two million dollars damage to earthmoving machinery in south Cairns but were soon caught because they too posted their expensive exploits on social media.
Police asked the duo why they vandalised the machinery to which they replied: “because we can…”
These kids, black and white have not ever been taught respect for others or their property because the Labor Party’s juvenile justice laws have been debased to the point of irrelevance and indigenous education curricula has conditioned students that white man is a trespasser.
There are no rehabilitation or remote sentencing programs of any value to suit these recalcitrant kids and doubling jail time for property offences is laughable.
Kids are taught humanistic values where it is OK to do as you like with no possibility of retribution, and that white man stole your land so go get ‘em.
Could the same malady be affecting Alice Springs?

the bemusing thing is that if you are poor cashcow motorist the (LAW ENFORCEMENT) will come down on you like a ton of brick,s for the most minor lapses of attention because we are so fixated on looking at the speedo. like the hoon kid,s doing their thing are of no different to the cop,s bullying motorists because they can.Just call me very cynical after 50 years of driving.

No one is going to buy a used car from a young kid. So who is really behind it all? Who is making the money?

War is coming and canon fodder is needed. All will sort it out quite “naturally”.
Because we can – might not work when martial law is declared and they are given a choice of either a bullet now or one a little more honorable and later, in a western coalition uniform with a Chinese made hole in it. ALL the gamer generation can then shoot real people – if they don’t shi(r)t their pants first when they are realizing how real and deadly their new entertainment can get.

First the judiciary needs short sharp sudden punishment.

Put them in a highly disciplined Boot Camp, living in tents, performing hard physical labour during the day on environmental projects. Of course, it will never happen. The bleeding heart, human rights mob, will be out in force objecting to what they would describe as ‘cruel and unusual punishment’. These are the same hypocrites who remained silent for over 2 years when innocent Australians were ‘locked down’ and denied all human and common law rights during the Covid pandemic.

Considering that I actually administered probation and parole for a decade when this started, I am guessing my impressions have some passing accuracy. The very first act of de-criminalising criminality occurred in the Darwin Childrens’ Court in 1975.
The Coup de Grace to the justice system was delivered by magistrate David McCann when he ignored my pre-sentence report and declared “I am not going to punish this child for society’s crimes”.
The kid had stolen something fairly trivial but I had applied the usually effective “short, sharp. shock” of securing his mum’s permission to tell him what was at the end of this slippery slope he was on. The kid was shitting himself. The magistrate’s role should have been to exploit this fear and launch the kid on the straight and narrow. 99 times out of a hundred, this worked and the kid was never seen again.
But when McCann released the kid without conviction or warning, every other kid waiting his turn in the corridor flocked over to congratulate the new hero. Unsurprisingly, to retain his new hero status, he had to commit more crimes and became a recidivist, to the horror and despair of his mum. And mine.
As the years passed, other magistrates conjoined and eventually became known as “activist judiciary”. Fabian socialists clamoured for more of this, to be discipled by every feebleminded bleeding heart do-gooder, all of them applauded by ABC journalists. In my opinion, most of the middle-aged female proselytisers of juvenile indelible innocence, identified by their plaintive “I just want to hear what the young people have to say” (to loud applause), were in fact hoping to jump the bones of some of the virile-looking junior criminals.
Things then went from bad to worse. As the media attacked parenting, and a whole army of social workers, community police, school teachers, church busybodies, journalists, and counsellors replaced parenting, an entire generation emerged with little or no idea of right or wrong, or respect, or honour, or justice, or even basic human rights.
That is what went wrong.

forget about rehabilitation program’s, or punishment via our non justice system, these kids need some real rough justice I dont care what you say, its needed, and any wimpy soy boy complains about this form of justice meet it out on them as well, real men real justice is whats needed, out the back for a serious attitude re alignment and make sure they remember it for a long time after. they’ll think twice after that, as for the parents of these offenders make them pay for all the damage that their little darlings caused, if no payment , jail them for a long time. I know most of you wont agree with this but hay suck it up, if nothing happens to stop this its going to get worse our authorities are as weak as p–s
