Bob Katter, the former Cloncurry boy holds the esteemed title of the longest serving MHR in federal parliament.
He left Queensland state politics in 1993 when elected to the Lower House as a member of the National Party. Bob soon fell out with the Nationals berating them for being ‘Liberals wearing Akubras’ after the supposed farmer’s party supported deregulation and free trade which has since destroyed the dairy industry, grain growers, farming and the entire economy.
Bob Katter has been re-elected in 1996, 1998, 2001, 2004, 2007, 2010, 2013, 2016, 2019 and 2022. He has never lost an election.
At 77 Bob has seen it all in Australian politics. Not so long ago he could have been Prime Minister but the treacherous LibLab machine has pulled every crooked stunt imaginable to keep Bob and his nation-building policies buried.
Backed by many reader’s comments over the past 12 years and enduring support from his Kennedy electorate we say well done Bob.
We are checking the Murray Darling bit Bill. News to us. Ed
He’s smarter that the average cat. Ed
“A political genius who cannot grasp how a personal name party disenfranchises every Australian. No thanks”.
Time to set up Tony’s and Dave’s Party I reckon. It’s our only hope. lol
Criticising Katter is like complaining the winner of a race didn’t run fast enough. As Katter says in the clip, “there’s a crossbench on the rise”. The crooked Teals Party should merge with the crooked Greens party and get off the crossbench, they are squatters. Considering Teals Party funding comes through an NGO or similar I forget the name, 21 or something, from Holmes a court makes me wonder why don’t I know who is funding the Greens Party. South Australia is way underrated for weirdness, they vote for Sarah Hanson Young of the WEF in denial. What else is weird, long ago there was Hawke vs Peacock, nowadays we have Hawke vs Pocock, true it’s a thing. Whey do we have a green Pocock and a Teal Pocock in denial. Teal was a feminist plot I think, Pocock allowed to leave the shirt off. Even weirder we had Abbott and Costello doing a cream pies routine. Is some 33rd degree someone scripting all this stuff
Bob Katter, all hat and no brains. Always has always will.
A political genius who cannot grasp how a personal name party disenfranchises every Australian. No thanks.
This is why every political party since the year dot has been named for a goal, a strategy, an ideology, or an ideal. That way voters understand immediately what a candidate stands for, and to what ideal he is accountable.
Katter? What does this convey? A cat shooter? Even if Kennedyites know immediately, his only accountability is to his name. Well, I tested this out by leaving a message about a salient issue at the Katter Party office in Townsville or Charters Towers. Nobody got back to me so I conclude precisely as I anticipated, unless I had local influence I was nobody. Which is why Katter senior still has not got back to me in response to several communications a dozen years ago.
I blame megalomaniac Pauline Hanson for this dangerous trend; and with a smidgeon of charity I can only conclude Katter is easily led.
Bob Katter is an enigma. He poses as a centre right but loudly and proudly proclaims that he is a financial, card carrying member of the CFMEU and his political hero is Red TED Theodore who abolished the Queensland upper house. He also voted with with Labor and the Greens to take 450Gl/y off MDB irrigators to provide more water for environmental flows.
While he can attract a crowd, he and his brand don’t seem able to grow the party, state or federally beyond the borders of Kennedy.
I visited Canberra some 20 years ago to discuss ‘biodiesel’. I met a lot of the politicians, but Katter was the only one that impressed me. The bloke is smart. The guys I was with mentioned some statistics and Katter quickly, without pencil and paper, came to the correct mathematical conclusion.
I couldn’t have done that math in my head, but he did it quickly like it was some simple purchase at a grocery store.
Quite substantial especially in his electorate. If you live in Cairns thank Bob for the Portsmith bypass costing $1billion. Editor
I dont know anything about Bob Katter’s achievements. Been in politics about 30 years. Say one good thing per year equals about 30 good things.
What does the list look like?
