This eliminates unnecessary FX transactions between banks and independent traders, etc, which cuts costs and speeds up trade, – but its also less secure.
The decentralised system is slightly slower (e.g. a BTC transaction can take several minutes), but its more secure: – in fact it is indestructible.
It is the latter case scenario, why America chose to adopt the decentralised model, where in the event of nuclear war, its cyber empire and operations will remain completely impervious to nuclear attack, or any other form of attack.
